  1. I wouldn’t worry about the table, my loading bench is a piece of 3/4” plywood with legs from an old folding table and it has worked fine with my Dillon 650 for 15 years..  30 years ago a friend loaded with a Dillon 650 mounted to an old folding card table.

Capt. Bill Burt.  OK.  MY SLAM was generated 'cause the OP was dry firing without Snap Caps.  THAT is a well known NO NO.  Ignorant folks been breaking guns that way for years

I looked back through all the posts and I failed to see where the OP said he was dry firing? I was the TO in the match when this happened.

  3. I shot an entire match with it today and while it’s no SKB, it shot well. I was a little fumbly loading it and had to remember it has 2 triggers but I could shoot with it. I finished 2nd Overall. Here’s a video of a 6 knockdown stage.

  4. Cowboys, Cowgirls and Wild Bunch Shooters, we will be shooting at Wartrace this Saturday 01/18/25. The forecast is for 40°-50° while we're shooting so dress accordingly. 25% chance of rain from 7am till 1pm and 30% chance from 1pm till 2pm so if everyone brings their rain gear maybe the rain will stay away!

We will be shooting stages 6-10 so most are covered and we can get out some canopies if need be. $15 members and $20 non-members. Registration starts at 8:30, Safety Meeting 9:30 and Shooting starts around 10. All SASS Rules apply.

Hope to see you at the range.

  5. Wartrace Regulators plan to have a Make-up Work Shirkers Match this Friday 01/17/25. With Annual Matches starting soon I thought this would be a good time to start preparing. We'll shoot 5 stages Friday and a different 5 stages for our regular match on Saturday. They will be separate matches but have the feel of an Annual Match. Match fees for each day will be the same $20 non-members, $15 members. For the Friday match please email me at rws2700@comcast.net with your alias and category (Saturday Match will sign in at the range). On Friday I'll start collecting the money at 8:30. Safety Meeting at 9:30, shooting shortly thereafter. I hope to see you at one or both of the matches.

    Thanks

Thinking to the future, why not use PractiScore? Works for all shoot sizes, from local clubs to national events.

I for one, certainly hope they don’t! I like to see my score written down and initial it before I leave the stage. I may be computer challenged but going to Practiscore for match results is a pain.

  7. We have some lady shooters that can't stand the name Grand Dame for 70+ ladies. I know of one lady who refuses to move up from Lady Silver Senior.  I posted this on the TG Wire and got this reply from PaleWolf so it looks like this was discussed back in 2017.

A name change was suggested back in 2017.

As far as I know, no further action was taken.

😎 The ladies equivalent to the Grand Patron (El Patron) category has been officially renamed by SASS to La Patrona, effective immediately (as of Winter Range 2017).

    ...

    13) SASS will consider changing the Grand Dame category to something else, if they get suggestions and the majority agrees.

    WR TG MEETING - 2017

Do any other Ladies have complaints about the name? If so any suggestions on a better name?

I tried this once before and I read all the comments I got but very few were constructive and it got to the point that no Lady would want to reply and I had the thread closed.

I'd like to get some ideas before the TG Meeting at Land Run and I'd like to only get replies from Ladies since this really only concerns them.  If this request cannot be honored and it gets out of hand like it did last time I'll ask the moderators to close this thread and ask any Ladies to PM me with their ideas.

    Thanks

I hope you're PM was merely to inform FLR that his asking price is "gracious", and not in an effort to snipe these  🙂

I told him if that was the price and you didn’t take the I would be interested.🤠

  9. I missed EOT last year and will miss it again this year but I still want to say "Thank You!" to everyone involved in putting on the match! It's amazing how much work goes into preparation, set up and tear down for this match. If you've never been it's hard to understand what it takes. Hopefully I'll make it back someday.

Thanks again for all the hard work!!

    Longfoot, where are you located?

I have a pair of these, stainless, 4 5/8-inch, Faux Ivory grips, untouched.  I bought these two many years ago thinking when I got older, I might switch to this caliber.  They have sat in my safe for many years.  I bought them used but in excellent condition.  I did not do anything to them, I did not even test fire them, just put them in the safe.  I missed buying a rifle in the same caliber, which helped me to decide not to shoot them.

2 - Ruger  New Model     xxx-xxxxx       Single Six SSM   32 H&R Mag     Revolver            Stainless Steel

USED        Ruger New Model Single-Six revolvers in .32 H&R Mag, 4 5/8 inch Barrel, High Gloss-Stainless Steel with Faux Ivory Grips, ejector rod and Fixed Sights. Nice revolver, it is used and has been fired, but overall it is in nearly minty shape with very minor handling wear.    $850

I started with 45 LC but during the period that the ammo was not being sold I switched to 38 Spl.  I did not reload so I was dependent on a caliber that I could find the ammo.  At 77 years I am still waiting for the 38 Spl kick to be too much for me.

    PM sent.

Ordered a few thousand 9mm and 45 acp 2 weeks ago from Mojo. Just got a shipping notice yesterday, was beginning to wonder if it was a scam site. Prices are good, waiting to see if it shows up.

I ordered mine on December 22, it was delivered on January 3. I thought the shipping time was very reasonable especially so close to Christmas.

I've gone through both of the guns that I bought and found nothing out of the ordinary from a standard Stoeger. They both slicked up well.

Good move by Stoeger to give a little price relief for new shooters on a budget.

Johnny, years ago after Larsen's article came out, I swapped the triggers on an old Stoeger I had at the time, do you think it can still be done one these new ones?

    Thanks

    Randy

I’m not a gunsmith and I didn’t sleep at a Holiday Inn Express last night but I decided to attempt a trigger swap today. I found that this Stoeger doesn’t have a slot for the left and right trigger, both triggers sit beside each other in one big slot. The triggers are cast and it looked like if you ground enough for them to work swapped in the slot they would be able to move around. I don’t think you would have very good luck if you tried it.

The casting was a bit gritty so I took a fine stone and smoothed up the sides and they seem to work better. My main reason for wanting to swap them was to shoot the left barrel first so if I was shooting a pigeon flipper the right barrel would be for the bird. Now I may see about getting a choke reamer and opening up both chokes?

For the money I still think it would be a good choice for a beginner on a budget, I hope Stoeger decides to make another run of them!🤠

  13. I normally always have enough ammo in the truck to shoot at least two matches, you never know when you or someone else might have ammo problems.

  14. There’s a lot of shadows in the pictures taken when I was spreading it out in the sunshine. It’s a balmy 38 degrees here. But it cleaned up really well. 🤠
