I just read the SHB section on firearm sights, and it lists various requirements for the rear sights on rifles.  But it doesn't specifically say that a rear sight is required to exist.

Is it OK to have a rifle with a hooded front sight and no rear sight at all?  Or to use it with the legal tang sight folded completely down?

I only ask because I set up my backup rifle for long range, and I might need it at short notice in a regular match.

It is entirely up to you whether you have a rear sight or not (or a front one for that matter).  I’m pretty sure Widder used to run his rifle with no rear sight, don’t know if he still does or not.  As Garrison Joe and Flying W Ramrod said, there is no requirement to have sights.

  2. I put a cork in my barrel and sprayed a lot of Kroil in the barrel and let it sit overnight and was then able to get the separated case out with the Shotgun Boogie tool. I might have just got lucky?

  3. I have both and can’t tell the difference when shooting. But for whatever reason on a 6 shot run with a pigeon flipper and a clay bird, I’m about 1 second faster with the SKB.

  4. Right now I'm using Perfect Pattern Powder. Hodgdon online reloading manual has some usable loads for it, down to about 970fps. I use STS hulls, Cheddite or Remington primers and I drop down one wad size to get a good stack height. 1 1/8oz load-1oz wad, 1oz load-7/8oz wad, 7/8 oz load-3/4oz wad.

Shooter list capped out yet? I may be able to make it this year. Curious, if I would be put on the waitlist?

    Thanks

No, we still have room, last I heard we were around 165, we start a waiting list at 225. Send in your application and come join in on the fun! 🤠

  6. Wartrace Regulators will be shooting our April Cowboy Match tomorrow, April 4th. The forecast for Wartrace looks good with rain not starting until 6pm but bring your rain gear for insurance. Registration starts at 8:30, Safety Meeting at 9:30 and shooting shortly thereafter. Fees are still $15 members and $20 non-members.

We will be shooting stages 1-5 and I hate to disappoint English Tom but we aren't shooting the Texas Star.

We only have a few more matches at Wartrace before the Tennessee State Championship, June 4-6. Please get your entry in soon if you plan to shoot. We are at 159 shooters with 2 months to go.

Hope to see you at the range! 🤠

  7. Wartrace Regulators will be hosting an ROBS+CAS course on April 15th. This is the new course that replaced RO1 and RO2. The class will be at the range and you do not need to bring any guns.

The cost for the class is $30. We will start at 9am and expect it to last 5-6 hours. If you would like to take the class please contact me at rws2700@comcast.net
with you alias. I will send more information to those attending.

Whiskey Hayes, Randy Saint Eagle and possibly Tennessee Williams will be teaching the class.

    Thanks
    Randy.

I have one written for our Work Shirkers match this Thursday. I don’t think it’s a “P” trap but it’s a sweep I’ve never seen. 3 targets, single tap T1, triple tap T2, quad tap T3, single tap T2, single tap T1. I guess I’ll know Friday if it was considered a “P” trap. 🤠

I guess this was ok, I didn't get hung and we only had one "P" on the stage and that was by a shooter shooting Josey Wales for the first time.

Does anyone have any insight as far as a response from the main office? I have left several messages with membership services and no one responds.

We have a new shooter that called Monday and talked to Ruby to sign up and confirm his alias. After just getting back from EOT, I expect they are just very busy catching up.  🤠

  10. I can’t say about.4 Colt, but I don’t like it in .38 special. The cases are thicker on the inside towards the base and Dillon 650 won’t hardly decap them. I throw all I get into the recycling box.

Thing sure change.  Now the nice trophies matches once gave out have SO greatly increased in cost they are no long viable.  I wonder how much the Molly belts will eventually cost?
Some trophy shops are now reselling trophies with a new label.

Molly’s went up $5.00 per buckle this year.

  12. As far as I know, your best bet is to order a short stroked pistol from one ore more of the current gunsmiths that currently do them. Take them apart and see how it’s done. As mentioned earlier, all are welded up parts that I’ve seen except for Shotgun Boogie. I have short stroked Rugers from Joe Perkins, Boomstick Jay, Three Cut and Shotgun Boogie. I also have some factory short stroked Uberti’s.
