I don’t know about the charge weight but I could not tell any difference in my shells when using Clays, Clay Dot or Red Dot. I did have to up my powder charge .2 over Clays when loading .38 special. Randy

I really like it, but you have to change bushing and wads because it takes a lot less powder. For a 7/8oz load I use a 3/4 oz wad, 12.2gr (MEC 14 bush) Perfect Pattern. You need to use the 3/4oz wad to get a good stack height. You can find Perfect Pattern powder for around $300 for an 8lb jug. I have heard of some folks loading quite a bit lighter than I do. Randy

I agree with Badlands Bob, they are all rifle/ pistol targets so no miss for shooting the wrong type gun first, just a “P”. IMHO Randy

Katfish Kid, As it has been said in previous posts, work on transitions. You can lower your stage times more with great transitions. As far as dry firing goes, as you said it is good for mechanics and I basically never dry fire anymore except for transition practice. When I started I dry fired a lot and got my speed up. The problem is that you have to be honest, I never missed a target dry firing. I didn’t get the same results at the range during live firing. 🤔 I admit that sometimes I’m a slow learner, but I finally realized that I would never miraculously get faster by practicing slow to stay clean. Work on smooth movement with no wasted time. Move fast but smooth. Papa Dave used to say, don’t stroll from point A to point B, run. Get someone to video you when shooting. We can see things on video we don’t realize we are doing. in the words of Tennessee Williams, “Smooth is Fast, Slow Sucks!” Good luck!🤠 Randy

#1, even without TO acknowledgement the shooter essentially declared the gun broke, possible blocked barrel. When he came back and fired it without verifying the barrel I think it should be a SDQ for unsafe gun handling. #2, There was TO acknowledgement and the TO told him to ground it. Same penalty. Just my opinion. Randy

In my opinion the Shotgun Boogie '66 style loading gate makes reloads a lot easier than a lightened 1873 loading gate. Pictures will show the difference. 1st Boogie's This is a standard 1873. Just my opinion. Randy

I can't speak for Widder, but when I started, I shot Marlins and used to tinker with them quite a bit. I felt like the one-piece firing pin helped to smooth them up quite a bit. Along with changing the main spring, tweaking the lever safety spring and changing the plunger spring on the lever. Randy
