  1. Chester and Festus always looked forward to a visit to the LongBranch Saloon for a 'Cold Beer'. How was it kept cold? Or was is just 'cool' because it 'wet their whistle'. ..........Widder
  2. 😍She's a dear friend of mine! ..........Widder
  3. I forgot to mention that TW loves to wash down his nanner splits with TAB. He's heartbroken that he can't find it anymore and his 'survival' stock has greatly diminished the past couple years. ..........Widder
  4. Don't laugh.....he'll get worse. TW never told anyone that he was once an eye doctor. One day, a patient called him up and claimed his new glasses didn't let him see at a distance. Of course, ole TW ask the patient to come into his office for a check up. Upon arrival, TW ask the patient to step outside and look up into the sky. Then TW ask....... "Whats that way up there"? Patient replied....."that's the Sun". TW says...."Well my goodness feller, just how far do you want to see". Another true story. Oh yea, TW's eye doctor business closed up. I wonder why! ..........Widder
  5. I'm a Pepsi man. Moon Pie and RC Cola was also a favorite of mine. And of course, living here in God's country (E.Tennessee), I love sweet tea. Speaking of some of the early 'diet soda's, don't forget Diet Rite. I wasn't all that bad but I just never took a craving for it. ..........Widder
  6. I'd probably keep a few clothes at both places and increase the volume of clothing over the years.....assuming I'm that rich. But actually, I'll probably just have one home. I would tend to give most of my $$$ away to good charities (children's hospitals, ST.Jude's, etc...) I probably would have a couple trucks, maybe customize em. And I'd hire TW to be my handyman, lawn care guy. And I'd hire a professional cook with expertise in seafood and hotdogs/slawdogs. ..........Widder
  7. TW is a sore knuckleloser........ and he calls me a 'knucklehead'. ..........Widder
  8. I got a good deal on it quite a few years back and I love the .357 SIG caliber. AND...I got it before any faulty issues were experienced. Plus, if my memory serves me correctly, it was my FIRST striker fired pistol, of which I've only owned very few. Most of my armory is 1911's in .45 Super and .460 Rowland, Ruger SBH hunters in 45 Colt, a 460 S&W mag and a 500 S&W Mag. Other than the OOB experience with the P320, which I referenced in an earlier post, the gun has served me well and is super accurate. ..........Widder
  9. Congratulations Ambs Aces. Your peers have chosen well. Keep em smokin. ..........Widder
  10. I'll update this thread as things progress. ..........Widder
  11. Indeed, Lassiter is a grade A Cowboy..... first class all the way. We would be blessed if more folks in society were like him. ..........Widder
  12. Yea... easily. And, the case also holds the bullet tight.....real tight. ..........Widder
  13. Stump and Lumpy, Yea, I also was at the same conclusion. And after too much stretching.....the brass will be apt to separate. The 500 brass is expensive and I would prefer to reload each piece a few times. At the rate it is stretching with the Carbide die, my guess is 3 reloads might be max. ..........Widder
  14. Hey Lumpy. I preferred not to mention that because I think they have sponsored some SASS matches and I didn't want to put any negative comments about them. I use A LOT of their dies and have never had any issues. I will PM you. ..........Widder
  15. Thanks for all the replies. B.Bob: All my brass is new Starline. Both new and once fired were checked for length and measured to 1.618 +/- .001 AND both the new and once fired had a case mouth diameter of approx .530 Then some were resized with the Steel die and only lengthened about .001 (case mouth diameter was .528/.529 Those resized with the Carbide die lengthened .008 up to .011 (case mouth diameter was .522) This inconsistency effects setting the case flare die AND getting a consistent crimp According to a couple reloading manuals, case 'trim length' should be around 1.618 and overall case length should be 1.625 My CARBIDE resizing die is actually lengthening my brass beyond SAAMI case length specs. I'm hoping the die maker replies and ask me to return the dies because in my opinion, even with a slight variation of brass thickness, the resizing die should only resize the case mouth to about .528 Anything much less is causing too much case stretching during the resizing process. I don't know everything about this topic, which is why I like reaching out to the Wire Pards for their wisdom and experience. Hey 3 foot: guess where I got my .500? Yep, TW. I really like it and enjoy shooting it. Bgavin: I were a glove and a wrist wrap support when I shoot it. PLUS, I'm limiting my reloads to only 350 grain bullets. I tried some 450 grainers.....and they hurt. SUN: Yep, some of those bullets are about a buck each.....and the powder charges are about double what a .44 mag is. I'm glad I have a rich banker.....:) ..........Widder
  16. Hey BB. Yea, I expect some case stretching...but after firing, my cases have basically remained 1.618 to 1.620 (I trim my cases to 1.618). Its the resizing that is puzzling me because my CARBIDE die is stretching it out to 1.627 and sometimes to 1.630, which has me trimming cases all the time. ..........Widder
  17. Good question. I have no idea, but many folks do carry the P320 either on their person or in a vehicle. Mine rides in the vehicle and/or on my person. I don't carry one in the chamber cause I don't trust striker fired pistols. That being stated, I do often carry my 1911 with a round chambered, and safety on. Of course, it also has the grip safety. ..........Widder
  18. To see my updated info, go to my last post below, titled 'UPDATE'. I have both a Steel resizer die and a CARBIDE resizer die. Upon firing, my brass measures approximately .530, outside diameter. Resizing with the steel brings my brass to .528, outside diameter. BUT, with the carbide, it squeezes it down to .522, outside diameter. PLUS, the STEEL die normally lengthens the brass just a tad, basically .001 longer than before resizing. BUT, the carbide die will lengthen my brass anywhere from .008 to .011 longer than before resizing. And, I've even used a case lube to see if it would minimize this stretching.....but it didn't. This lengthening my brass is unacceptable to me, because we (all of us) only have so much 'stretching' allowed before possible case head separation. Normally, that is about .015, especially in the 500 mag. QUESTION for you 500 owners (and others who might have more knowledge on this): what has been your experience and thoughts? I have emailed the die maker but haven't gotten a reply yet. Just thought I would venture the Saloon for Y'alls wisdom. Thanks ..........Widder
  19. This particular subject was a Saturday Night Live skit with one of their characters playing Sean Connery on a JEOPARDY game skit. The category was AN ALBUM COVER and he pronounced it like AnalBumCover. Halarious skit. ..........Widder
  20. RYE, I'm guilty of 97 abuse. I treat mine like a rented mule. The more I can get it to bleed, the better it runs. ..........Widder
  21. TEST suggestion: If you own a P320, have you thought about putting just a PRIMER ONLY shell in the chamber, put in it a holster, safe, on top of your gun cabinet, etc..... and see if it will eventually fire on it own. Just. a thought. ..........Widder
  22. Mr Badly, WHY would you try to keep your 97 from getting sore? ..........Widder
  23. Although I've never had a need for it, I had a friend that used horse linament on his sore, arthritic hands. Said it relieved a good bit of his ailment. I heard TW used some on his big nose and it made it run faster..... ..........Widder
  24. The only fight TW had to deal with was his bad (and rightly earned) reputation. At one time, he was actually the Poster Boy for Dairy Queen, particularly their banana splits. His sore knuckles was because he got his hand caught in the freezer door. Hey, another true story. A feller just cant make this stuff up. ..........Widder
  25. My P320 is in .357 SIG caliber. Full size and really fun to shoot. BUT, before I sent it back for the 'safety mod' they initiated, I had a couple 'double discharges', one of which was OOB (out of battery). It blew the slide back and lock it up solid. It blew the magazine out and separated the base pad and spring from the slide body. All 3 pieces were at my feet. It cracked the crip frame in 2 places, in my palm area. It 'stung' my palm but no harm was done to my hand or skin. I might add that I also found the 2 pieces of 'split in half' brass from that OOB discharge. Of course, I sent the P320 back and it got all repaired and their new safety device installed. I haven't had any issues with it since. I use it as one of my carry pistols, although I don't carry it with a round in the chamber. Of course, most of my main carry pistols are the 1911's. Love em! ..........Widder
