  1. I'm in the 'Minimalist' posse also. Ruger pistols: about once a year. SG 97: I swab the bore with an oily patch every 75-100 rounds Marlin rifle: whenever it starts to feel sluggish, or a couple times a year. In my opinion, the type of powder residue and your lubricants can create hardened crud OR prevent it. Try to use relatively clean burning powder and good lubes and you may discover a lot of your cleaning methods can be reduced to just a good wiping off of your guns. ..........Widder
  2. Calico, It ain't beer that Rye and others in the surrounding states might drink.......... its Lemonade. Check out your map and you'll see that Ohio borders on Kentucky. And most any state that borders on KY or TN has 'lemonade'. As for me, I don't indulge. That will leave more for you. ..........Widder
  3. If you want to talk about LEFT handed shooters, there's always RED KNEE out in Oklahoma who pulls 4 with the right hand while shooting from his left shoulder. He's 'kinda' fast..... ..........Widder
  4. Santa Fe River Stan pulls 3 with left hand & 1 with right hand. He goes over the top with the left hand ammo for first 3 shots and then finishes the 4th shot with the 1 round in his right hand. He's mighty good. I sure somebody can post a video of him shooting. ..........Widder
  5. JEDI Calico Mary, All those states you mentioned are top notch when it comes to clubs and the Cowboys/Cowgirls that shoot in those areas. The ONLY drawback to moving to Indiana is that you will have to put up with Purty Boy (ShyAnnie)... Also, a good deal of the clubs in those states are VERY GF indoctrinated. In other words, there are PLENTY of top notch GFer's at many of the clubs in those areas you are considering. Its not uncommon for the Ocoee Rangers (in Cleveland TN) or the Oak Ridge Outlaws (in Oak Ridge TN) to have 60+ shooters at a match with many GFer's, who also
  6. USC 52 PENN ST. 49 WHEW, this game was a real donnybrook. When Penn St came out in the 3rd qtr and put 21 on the board in 5 minutes, I thought..."Katie Bar The Door'. But USC wasn't finished strutting 'their stuff' and prevailed.......... despite some terrible Ref calls. The USC player that was thrown out of the game deserves an apology from those refs. From the replay I saw, he dove over the quarterback and didn't even touch him. Great game. ..........Widder
  7. But if you listen to some of the sports 'know it alls', they'll still try to convince you that OSU and Michigan should be playing again for the Natl Championship. the big 10 got clobbered AGAIN: Florida 30, Iowa 3. ..........Widder
  8. If "Nolege is Power", then Morelege is 'MoPower' ..........Widder
  9. CHILI, I've owned P229 in .40 cal. It functioned flawless. A shooting friend bought it from me. I presently own 2 full size P320 models in 9mm and .357 SIG. That SIG is a romper-stomper on the muzzle end, but its VERY controllable on the shooting side. I really like it as it is my main carry pistol. I'm considering buying another in P220 10mm cal. Thats a powerhouse round. ..........Widder
  10. Hey Ridgerunner, I live on the other side of the 'Hill' here in E.TN. Welcome and I'm sure our paths will cross someday. I normally shoot the NC State match. Lots of GREAT Pards in NC. And thanks for your service. ..........Widder (USN)
  11. I think our good Wire Pard, BOGGUS DEAL, also carries Lucas Oil products. My apologies to Boggus in my forgetting to mention LUCAS OIL PRODUCTS in my previous post because I got some of their gun 'stuff' from Boggus and found it top notch in cleaning and in lubricating. ..........Widder
  12. Although my carry pistol(s) are full size, My brother recently bought a Sub-Compact SIG P320 in 9mm. It is a great shooter. VERY accurate and highly dependable in function. ..........Widder
  13. And they call it a 'Sanctuary' city. Sanctuary from WHAT? ..........WIdder
  14. Bama probably won't 'peak' until they play the Dallas Cowboys..... ..........Widder
  15. AMEN, Bro. Burt ROLLLLLLLLL TIDE (Judge'em All Duncan's team) ..........Widder
  16. Ohio State is taking a 'dog whoopin' from a bunch of Tigers. MIchigan and Nebraska also got drubbed. Can Penn State and Wisconsin stop a Big 10 derailment? ..........Widder
  17. When I use to shoot in the cold/cooler weather conditions, I noticed my CLAY loads in .38 special ammo was sensitive UNTIL I started using MAGNUM primers. The MAG primers give more flash time which apparently help get the CLAYS powder a better chance to fully ignite. That is my limited experience with weather sensitive ammo. When I chronograph my ammo, I normally do it in summer months and also make note of the temperature range during my test. ..........Widder
  18. The Fla State/Michigan game was out of this world. Great game and both team played some GOOD football. TOUGH football. ..........Widder
  19. Congratulations on the retirement, Krazy. I been at mine nearly 2 years and I seem to be busier than ever. ..........Widder
  20. I think FSU will prevail. Michigan will fall, just like Nebraska. OH YEA.......... GO VOLS ! p.s. - as I just finished typing this, FSU scored on a 92 yard pass. So Noles. ..........Widder (Walkin in a WidderWonderLand)
  21. CONFIRM..... If this rifle is the one Junky showed me, the trigger is a 'Slater' trigger mod and in my opinion, they are great. Slater welds the trigger/sear as one piece and smooths out the sear/hammer cocking notch really nice. Then he uses the trigger/lever safety bar to function as a trigger stop. It is truly a neat setup. I have handled this particular rifle and I honestly ran numerous rounds thru it and found it to be flawless in function and feel. My opinion, this rifle has no functioning flaws and if the owner knows how to run a Marlin and feeds it properly OAL ammo, I t
  22. They know a VIP when they see one... Happy Anniversary! ..........Widder
  23. Unless I missed it, You can add 'Debbie Reynolds' to your list, who passed away Dec 28th. Remember 'Tammy'? She is the Mother of Carrie Fisher (who passed away the day before) ..........Widder
