J.Barleycorn: can u update us on your Henry .22?
Widder, SASS #59054 replied to Widder, SASS #59054's topic in SASS Wire
It was a really nice Widder Soft Stroke. It was actually one of my own, a super nice Golden Boy Youth model. A few weeks back, JB had posted some ignition issues with some ammo and was wondering if it might be rifle or ammo related. Many Wire Pards posted some suggestions, including me, but I never heard a reply. I'm hoping it was ammo related and not rifle related..... but I would like to know what might be the real issue. ..........Widder -
Need help with GunVault pistol safe
Widder, SASS #59054 replied to Gracos Kid's topic in SASS Wire Saloon
The keypads I am familiar with will 'pop off' and allow battery replacement. Some of them need to be 'smacked smartly' on the bottom and push in an upward position to come off. Good Luck. ..........Widder -

Hey JB. Since your original thread about misfires with your Henry .22, I've been wondering if you got it fixed and what might have been the gremlin. Can you update us? Thanks ..........Widder

Food question: Salmon
Widder, SASS #59054 replied to Widder, SASS #59054's topic in SASS Wire Saloon
after reading these 2 post, I can better understand why some of the Salmon is advertised as 'Pink' Salmon. Thanks ...........Widder -
Rule change using the word “Fall”? Your thoughts
Widder, SASS #59054 replied to Cahawbakid's topic in SASS Wire
We also throw a lot of lead and 'hope for the best'. Maybe we should redefine the word 'throw'. I like 'chuck' (i.e.....we chuck a lot of lead down range). Ernest T. Bass was a 'rock chucker'. ..........Widder -
Food question: Salmon
Widder, SASS #59054 replied to Widder, SASS #59054's topic in SASS Wire Saloon
Thanks for all the replies. It was a serious question. One of my favorite dishes here in E.TN when I go out to eat is 'Bourbon 'glazed' Salmon and shrimp'. And the salmon is always pinkish........ and super good and tasty. Thanks again. ..........Widder -
Is all Salmon...'pink'. Seems like every piece I've ever seen is pink, so why is it advertised as 'pink salmon'? Is their any other color of salmon? ..........Widder

I've seen some lately. But the real question is: Now that the gov't has stopped making pennies, will the penny loafer cease. Will the Penny Loafer become an endangered species. Will someone sue the U.S. Gov't over this on behave of the 'Penny Loafer'? ..........Widder

YES, my problem was also with those style bullets. (green arrow). Thanks for posting that pic. ..........Widder

Good load info above from everyone. But I will make a comment about BOTH of my Single-Six Ruger's in that both of them had 'short throats', meaning I had some issues with a couple bullet styles preventing my rounds from seating fulling in the chambers. CURE: correcting the throats to proper dimensions. I don't know if this is common with .32 Ruger's. ..........Widder

I like ELF, although I ain't a WF fan. My favs are: Miracle on 34th street (I like em both, but the original one is my fav) White Christmas ( just like the song) A Christmas Story (really like the WHOLE movie). The scenes shown in the windows of all the toys remind me of my childhood days in downtown Knoxville. The stores really did it right back in the 50's and 60's). I like Its a Wonderful Life, but it does kinda drag on and on and I have a hard time watching the whole thing. Natl Lapoon's CHRISTMAS is always fun to watch. Chevy's character and adorning his house with lights remind me of meowndangself. I love lots of lights at CHRISTMAS. I love about ALL the Christmas music, those about Christ and those that are just seasonal. I do hate 'Grandma got run over by a reindeer'. ..........Widder

Howdy Bubba Bear. I'll send you a PM. P.S. - I officially gave up my 'Widowmaker' alias a few years back to officially be 'Widder'. ..........Widder

Indeed, Mr Badly was one of the most fun Cowboys to be associated with AND to shoot with. He had visited Fort Widder a few times and we always had great get-togethers. In his own way, he was a remarkable person and left a positive and lasting impression on ya. If ya ever saw him shoot OUTLAW, you would know that he was JEDI. He will be fondly remembered and dearly missed. May his soul find peace in the arms of the Lord. My condolences to his family and his many friends. ...........Widder

sounds like a day well spent. A good gun show is always a fulfilling day....but when some of them have more coins, knives and leather pocketbooks than guns, then it ruins my trip. Good to hear about the primers. ..........Widder

What would you do in this situation?
Widder, SASS #59054 replied to Alpo's topic in SASS Wire Saloon
As stated above, I would proceed with 'certain cautions' before going in, such as lights, making sure I can get back out, etc..... There is a reason those kind of hidden rooms are there and it usually ain't for the benefit of the victims who enter. ..........Widder -

1974: my 1st Colt Python
Widder, SASS #59054 replied to Widder, SASS #59054's topic in SASS Wire Saloon
I have a lot of trouble posting pics, but I'll try again when it arrives. I'll have to take a picture as soon as I get it because big bore revolvers don't stay clean very long around my house. I buy to shoot.....and shoot often. ..........Widder -
It was a 4" blue. Super shiny. I was told it was 'black chrome' but I ain't sure Colt ever made any of those. Anyhow, it started my small, and costly collection of Pythons, of which I later sold cause I needed the money. BUT, it started my dream of a Python like revolver in .44 mag, with solid (unfitted) cylinder, 4 or 6", and either blue or nickel finish. A couple years back, I got me the new 4.25" Anaconda. Really like it. BUT, today, I had a chance to order a new Kodiak.......4.25, polished Stainless, UNFLUTED cylinder, AND..... 44 mag. So I obligated myself to take it. That setup of the pistol was my 'dream revolver' back in 74 and now, I got the Anaconda and the Kodiak. I think I've suckered ole TW into buying my Anaconda. I'll make up some story about how it belonged to some Afghan war hero or astronaut. He can't pass up a good revolver that may have belonged to a legend like Dr.Bottlestopper or Prof. Smellfunkus. ..........Widder

What’s it worth 10/22 Laminate stock
Widder, SASS #59054 replied to Mezcal Charlie's topic in SASS Wire Saloon
If you decide to go with an aftermarket stock, be sure to check out BOYD's gun stocks. I've owned 1/2 or more for various 10/22's and they are of the highest quality.....and priced right. ..........Widder -
The '97' question: do you need 1, 2, 3 or more? I wonder how many 'back up' rifles and pistols all the '97 naysayers' own. Basically, because original 97's have had years to age, and some abused, and many just sit in grandpa's closet for 50 years, they inevitably get a bad reputation of being unreliable. But heck, us Cowboys abuse the snot out of them. We run em hard, treat em like a rented mule, slam em down....... and then tell everyone to be sure and have backups. My guess is that most of the 66's and 73's are newer clones and if someone is using an original 66 or 73, it probably has been thoroughly gone over after sitting in grandpa's closet for 50+ years. And most of us have backups for all our guns. I may have the most reliable Marlin in the world, but I still kept a backup. And for a long time, I even kept backups for my Ruger's. Pay attention to shooters at your next match and you'll see folks have issues (problems) with SxS, 1887, 1897, 73's, 66's, Marlin 1894's, and all the other firearms that are in use. The main thing, in my opinion, to look for is to get one in good condition and follow some of the good advice above on what to look for. All things considered and keeping things in perspective, a good 97 is still a good shotgun for our game.....and its prices are relatively fair, considering the prices of our other firearms. Best wishes. ..........Widder
