  1. Update, Filly made it out of ICU and is currently undergoing physical rehab. While that was happening I got knocked flat by what the doctors think might be a flare up of CPPD (sometimes referred to as pseudo gout.) put me basically in bed the last 7 days, Dr. finally prescribed colchicine, but I heard so many horror stories about the drug I'm afraid to take it. Anyone here have any experience with it? Thanks again for all the prayers, it was kinda close there for a couple days,
  2. Filly is finally off the ventilator and doing well. They might even move her out of ICU latqer today. Still a long road ahead but positive progress. Thank you again for prayers.
  3. Just got great news from the doctor that Filly woke up!!!! She still has breathing tube but responded to directions. They're keeping her lightly sedated so I will go see her tomorrow morning. Thank you thank you for your prayers
  4. Update: The clot removal procedure went well, but now the doc is concerned that because she isn't waking up there might be brain damage from the heart stopping. Damn this sucks!!!! Filly doesn't deserve this! I can only pray that if its God's will she will recover, if its not that she passes quickly without discomfort or distress. My heartfelt thanks go out to all the saloon denizens that have entertained and supported us through the years.
  5. Ambulance took East Coast Filly to the ER today. She is currently in ICU diagnosed with the RSV virus and a large blood clot in her lung. She has stopped breathing once and her heart stopped once but they brought her back. Are trying to stabilize her now, but cautioned she might not make it.
  6. First time I sauteed them with butter and pepper my son complemented me on the tasty apples!
  7. Praying that all went well yesterday, and that she is on the road to recovery. Praying for peace and strength to all of your family.
  8. Sorry, but NO. Just NO!! Just NO *%#$^#*^%$^*(*&^ ing way!!!!
  9. I must agree, sometimes gallows humor goes a little too far.
  10. While true, this ia about the most ridiculously disgusting thing I've read this year
  11. My response would be to cook meat every night and a neighborhood BBQ every weekend! You want to eat vegan, be my guest, but that does NOT give you the right to force me to change my life style.
  12. Reminds me of a funny, but painful story: Back in '71 I was stationed at Ft. Hood, TX. Nearby base town of Killeen had a Shakeys Pizza. One of their best sellers was a Jalapeno Pizza. basically a cheese pizza loaded with Jalapenos. And I swear this owner got the hottest ones he could get. Anyway, one of the guys moonlighted there and told us a harrowing tale of why one wears gloves when making the Jalapeno Specials. Seems one night they got slammed with orders for the special, and he forgot to grab his gloves and just dipped both hands into the pepper jar. After making several extra large, he had to pee. totally not thinking he ran to the head and without a single pause, did his business. Then, he washed his hands and went back to work. A few minutes later he started feeling a bit uncomfortable in the groin area, and within minutes the "uncomfortable" became a severe burning, quickly escalating to agony. He left work and had a friend drive him to the base hospital, where it was discovered he had a wonderful crop of blisters on his member!! He was unable to report for duty for a couple days until things calmed down. His CO told him that he figured the "discomfort" was severe enough that he wasn't going to pursue an Article 15 for 'damage to government property", but perhaps he should rethink his moonlighting efforts!
  13. Definitely a yumm. Funny anecdote, first time I fixed them sauted in butter onion and garlic, my son told me that the "apples" tasted great!
  14. When I went to Palmdale High School in 1965-69, they had a Company of the California Cadet Corps. We not only had a rifle club, we even had a 2 lane indoor rifle range. We traveled to meets around southern CA, great times!!
