  1. Thanks Gaston for keeping me and my friends safe with a reliable pistol. I carried one on duty for 20 years and there are many still carrying your pistols on duty today.
  2. This is a desirable length of the Marlin and the octagon barrel with the JM stamp makes it even more desirable. However, since SASS has eliminated the need for 45 Colt rifles in Wild bunch, the demand for this configuration has diminished. I'd guess the value to be between $800 and $1,000, depending on condition and if any action work has been done and by whom. Wild Bunch isn't the only reason to buy a rifle like yours but it was part of the market driven demand.
  3. I suppose it would depend on what my job was, what I was entrusted with and what they were asking me to do.
  4. Is the application going to be; register and pay by credit card on line or print out the application, write a check and mail in the application? The reason I ask is because we are leaving on a camping trip that day and I won't have access to a printer. I may have to adjust our departure time if I have to wait to print the application at home. You see how complicated this retirement is. So much to get done, so little time.
  5. Most of these are worthy causes. However, my concern is over how much of my donation actually goes to the cause and how much goes to pay for additional marketing. Years ago, our local FOP contracted with a telemarketing company to raise money. They call people during dinner and ask them to donate to their local FOP associated with the County Police department. After asking specific, pointed questions to the FOP president, I found that the FOP only received about 7 cents of every dollar donated. I was told that 7 cents per dollar donated was better than nothing and they considered it free money since they didn't have to do anything except cash the check.
  6. Not that I'm biased but Stage L looks pretty good too.
  7. I had the same problem. It was the fumes that broke mine. Perfumes and gasoline fumes.
  8. I'll be glad to help with the ways of the Gunfighter. I have seen you shoot many times and you do have potential. I would recommend getting your left hand an eye exam. I found that mine was a little near sited. However, I have to warn you. Once you start down that path, it will be very difficult to go back to your squaw grip'n ways. The path of Gunfighter has many forks. Take one fork and there will be black smoke that no one can see through. Take yet another fork and you will give up using your sites and shoot everything from the hip.
  9. Welcome to the South. Cullman is just down the road from the North Alabama Regulators. Be sure to check them out when you get settled in. They host the Alabama State Match and the S.E. Regional.
  10. I grew up in Georgia without AC. No AC at home, in my pickup or at school. Child abuse, I tell ya. Does that count?
  11. I visited and toured Arlington National Cemetery last year. Spent most of the day there and didn't even scratch the surface. If you're a history buff, you could spend a lifetime learning about the people buried there. Truly a sacred place.
  12. The corporate culture has changed over the last 20+ years. There are no more pensions and the best way to get a pay raise is to quit and find another job. It's pretty common for people in the tech world to change jobs every 3-4 years. Down sizing and layoffs are common depending on the economy and there is no loyalty between a company and the employee anymore. It's all about what's in it for me. This is the environment these millennials are having to work in.
  13. They hunt pigs in Texas from a helicopter. If I was rich, I could be talked into that.
  14. 700X was on my list of possibilities. It just wasn't in stock at the time. I had to buy the Clay Dot in one pound cans. They didn't have the larger containers.
  15. I'm getting down to my last 2 pounds of Clays and there is no more in sight. I need to change over to something else. I just bought 5 pounds of Clay Dot. I thought it was pretty expensive but it's suppose to be a direct replacement for Clays, just made by Alliant. It was available, it works and it's cheap. At least I got two of the three.
  16. I think the .308 is certainly a capable cartridge. I do question the shot placement. Shooting at a running horse from an aircraft is not going to produce clean kills. On a side note, I find shooting horses distasteful.
  17. I sort of agree with him. I went for over 10 years and didn't reload shotgun shells. I found it easier and almost as cheap to just buy the flats when I caught them on sale. Walmart carried AA's and Winchester had a $2.00 per box rebate during dove season. Remember those? Then 2019 came along. There was about 2 years when I couldn't find any shells to buy. I used up all my store bought shells and had to dust off my old Mec Jr. Fortunately, I still had plenty of reloading components under the bench from the "old" days. I've been reloading, grudgingly, ever since. Now I even buy shotgun reloading components as I find them. I hate reloading shotgun shells. The reason they call it the Mec 600 Jr. is because that's how many times you have to pull the handle to load a box of shells.
  18. When I retired, I had to upgrade my watch to a day/date style. To me, every day was Saturday. I couldn't seem to keep up with what day of the week the rest of the world thought it was.
