  1. I've seen this happen before. Always skips the same chamber. I would not shoot that pistol until it's repaired. If it fires just off center it could cause excessive pressure if the cylinder isn't perfectly in line with the forcing cone.
  2. This sounds stupid, but it works. Double check to make sure gun is empty. Close action. Take a cleaning rod and pack the chamber with pieces of toilet paper or facial tissue. Pack it really tight and make sure it fills the entire chamber. Then, open the action and the brass will push right out with the paper. Works better than the extractor tool and no special size needed. Much cheaper too!
  3. Other than the SASS state buckles there are no other buckles in these parts for overall or any other winners, I'm no longer match director at our state match. 7 or 8 years back we got prices on awards/plaques and the proposal was $7000. Divide that cost between 150 shooters and it's $46+ per shooter, due to the plethora of categories. Shoot books were $3.75 each. I don't own a printer and I don't want to use my phone.
  4. I have the same problem with one of my four 73's. The bolt was worn and had too much head space. I've lost confidence in my 73's, they are old and worn. Bought a new one that was race ready, it's a pos after a year.
  5. I've had and seen multiple cases separate at the cannelure. Cannelured brass only gets shot out of pistols. Use crappy brass in your rifle and you might have a crappy match.
  6. I've used Titewad for years it's a good powder. Much cheaper than many other powders.
  7. Tupelo Flash. He was the entertainment at EOT 1998.
  8. We are all different. I struggle with technology, regardless of how much training I don't get it, and it hates me. X+Y means little to me although I always got word problems solved before everyone else. I'm a hands on guy, welder, carpenter type. Others, get the technology and have trouble with simple construction tasks. I still write checks, I have incredible printing and like to show it off, actually I've had bad luck and had my debit card hacked numerous times. We tried electronic registration, shooters were to send payment (check), didn't have any issues. Except a few people signed up and didn't show, after awards were made. Payment and registration is moot without marketing and getting folks out to the range.
  9. You need to get the new one and compare it to the existing spring. I thought it was strange myself until I could see the parts side by side. Then, it made sense. Good luck.
  10. It's that loading gate detent, spring not the cylinder. I've repaired a couple. Always the same cylinder that skips.
  11. What would the marker say for Joe Bass?
  12. I'm talking about redundancies like pistols holstered, etc. If instructions state place rifle at position 2 do I need to repeat, shoot rifle targets from position 2 when the rifle targets are right in front of that position. I'm long over the brevity, I just go to a match to shoot and bs with a couple friends. The fun ran out for myself, wife, and other's when everything turned into drag race shooting. Same with stage writing, I just want to see the bare bone description with simplicity. You need to come shoot Hell On Wheels and we'll discuss this and other topics.
  13. Stage conventions should cover most questions. Pistols holstered should be a convention, no need to include the verbiage in the scenario. Shoot position convention should state one foot behind the plane of table or prop. We could reduce the stage write up and simplify match rules. Yes, conventions would have to be read to posse marshals before walk thru's. Typically, less is more.
  14. Just because it's written doesn't mean folks read it.
  15. I like movement, down range and lateral. Just because there's movement doesn't mean one must run. If you can walk a few yards between shoot positions maybe it's time to hang up your hat. Stand and deliver is a sign of lazy stage writing. Targets shouldn't be lined up perfectly with the same sized targets, outlaws and renegades aren't all the same size. Don't like SG all from one position. Although I like the facility at Ben Avery I really wish they'd build some walls between the bays. Permanent facades lead to redundant stages, people just write around what's already set up month after month. Catering to the retired is a losing proposition, we need to cater to 30-40 year olds. I've been shooting CAS for 28+ years, been MD, written hundreds of scenarios, set up hundreds of matches, etc. This June I'll be a Silver Senior and I'll still be running.
  16. Just don't fall down and make my posse wait for an hour and a half to cart your big as off. Especially, in the rain. Was that 2016?
  17. I see the ammo. Don't see the guns. Although, I'm not looking for anything less than 12 gauge. I don't see a problem. There are quite a few 28 gauge reloading machines for sale.
  18. 28 gauge is pretty rare. Even if approved I doubt most would even encounter a shooter using a 28, I've no problem with allowing it.
  19. Does this make their casting machines obsolete, will parts still be available?
  20. There were other pump shotguns produced before 1918. Other than safety concerns, why aren't they allowed in WB shooting? Seems like if it doesn't say Winchester it's not worthy. Remington model 10, Browning A5, etc. And, folks wonder why WB never really caught on.
  21. I try to keep 40 pounds of my sg/pistol powder. Only one pounders I buy are for hunting rounds. Don't shoot as much as I did. Maybe I'll become excited about shooting when or if I retire in a couple years.
  22. That's about the only thing that hasn't broke on my 73's.. Have to have 3-4 rifles just like 97's when I shot them.
  23. Just like the Widow Maker that San Juan use to have at his range. The ambulance and EMT's camped there for the weekend.
  24. Not everyone owns a printer. Folks that signed up for life memberships years ago assumed they'd get their Chronical in print form.
  25. Does anyone read the new shiny chronical? There was something about the old newspaper format that made folks want to pick it up. It was different not just a shiny magazine. Until there is a substantial increase of membership, advertisers won't pay for ads, which is what should be paying for the chronical.
