  1. I have my two "1894-1994" receiver stamped rifles: 30-30 carbine with checkered stock and  45 Colt trapper (my first CAS rifle). The 30-30 I removed the cross bolt and plugged the holes - it looks nice. The 45 Colt has the "John Wayne" loop lever. It's just cool.

Here is a decent review.  Curious to see his follow up video in about a month.

Neat "modern" levergun. Will be interesting to see if S&W offers a dedicated CAS version. Still, kudos to them for getting this to market.

Gunner. Are you saying they will last forever if you don't use bp softer lube in the lube groove? If you're shooting real bp what other lube would you use? I could see the lubed wad being possibly more of a problem. It's not a difficult thing to box your ammo nose down to be on the safe side if the lube might migrate a little.

Soory to chime in late as I don't frequent the Wire much - I meant in my post that if you have SPG or similar libe in the grooves of the projectile you are fine for many many years. Load 'em up at age 18 and shoot'em at age 108. Same affect. it's the lubed wad that might cause inconsistent ignition over time.

  5. Does anyone know where to find Colonel Dan's writings. I remember a link sometime ago and read that it was removed from the internet. Certainly hope that there is an archive somewhere digitally.

    Thanks for any help.
