  1. “A bullet to the front of the head demonstrates good marksmanship. A bullet to the back of the head demonstrates good judgement.”
  2. Fewer ladies and the men and women aren't competing against each other.
  3. I cock both, then alternate cock. Usually start with my right, so it can be headed to holster while I'm shooting my last shot from my left pistol. It is much better to cock right while shooting left, than to wait until right before you shoot that gun to cock it. Gives the gun time to settle back in your hand. Also, after shooting one gun, ideally it will be heading for the next target while you're shooting the other. As far as split pistols, (as unpopular as it is) I don't mind one here and there as it changes things up a little. I DON'T, however, want 7 split pistols in a 10-stage match! Possum
  4. Here's some great information: https://www.davidscottharper.com/shoot/BP_for_CAS.htm
  5. I’ve recently tried some other’s black powder lubed bullets. They have a regular lube groove, but BP friendly lube. I have to run a wet patch through my rifle after every stage. When I use Big-lube bullets, I don’t have this issue. Do I NEED big-lube bullets? Maybe not, but they work perfectly for my purposes! And I don’t WANT to shoot APP! It is a fine substitute, but isn’t the same as real BP. Possum
  6. If written that way, you'd want to make absolutely certain the rifle targets COULDN'T be hit with an errant pistol round.
  7. If it makes any difference it can’t be much. However, to satisfy your own curiosity you could put it on paper and see. While GJ is right (and probably speaking just a little tongue-in-cheek), I like to know my rounds will hit where I’m aiming no matter the size or distance (within reason).
  8. Joe Bass Shot in the A$$ Couldn’t sit Or take a $hit Exploded from excess gas I apologize for being so crass!
  9. While it IS easier to fill out an application and pay online, I can't see printed apps being a "deal-breaker" for most folks who literally grew up writing checks, licking envelopes and attaching a stamp. A large percentage of our shooters are just computer savvy enough to look stuff up online and print out a form. Designing a website and setting up online apps and payments require skills that not all clubs possess. What are those clubs supposed to do?
  10. Welcome all of you! It's the coolest club North, South, East or West of the Pecos.
  11. You shouldn't just ignore the rules you disagree with or the interpretation thereof. Just like some did at EOT, you are giving shooters an unfair advantage over the shooters whose TO is correctly starting them.
  12. Frankly, I think the “staged safely” language is superfluous anyway because there are already penalties specified for doing otherwise. And in this case only causes conflicting interpretations. I’d really like to hear PWB’s take on this.
  13. Should have been 100% that staged them flat. From the SASS Shooters Handbook: All long guns initially staged on a horizontal surface shall be staged lying flat where at least the rear of the trigger guard is on the staging area
  14. I think I would try some paint thinner on it. It certainly won't hurt the steel.
  15. While I don't see a competitive advantage to the 28, I don't really see a good reason to allow it either. Plenty of options in 12 and 20 gauge. And 410 for buckaroo/ettes.
  16. You do amazing work. As said, incredibly artful! A wonderful tribute presented to a fantastic man.
  17. Since it's a special category, I can't see why it couldn't have it's own round count (Like Cody Dixon rifle instructions).
