I pretty much agree with you. Nothing wrong with shooter's choice stages...but having like every stage written that way is boring. And I 100% agree on not repeating starting positions!!!! How lazy is a Stage Writer that can't come up with different starting positions. And folks, starting "at the ready / gun(s) in hand(s)" is not the only starting position allowed...OY! If you as a Stage Writer can't keep your customers entertained with variety...perhaps it's time to pass the torch. Phantom

I see edges all the time...but never "every edge hit". Just like Procedurals, sometimes the TO is in the best position to see these things. Phantom

Look...if we can't get TO's to watch the shooter rather than being just a glorified spotter (target watcher), what makes anyone think that we can get TO's to make sure that they are picking up Rifle shots. We are dumbed down to the lowest common denominator. Phantom

I write stages using the "Any order, rifle not last" statement. Open to writing it a different way so long as it's not wordy...so...how would folks write the instructions? Phantom

I would say that no one should tell a competitor that is using legal ammo that they can't use that ammo. That said, there are reasons why that might not be the best thing. Why? 1. Hard on folk's hearing 2. Beats the crap outta cheap steel...that some clubs use because they can't afford good steel. So comparing complains of upper limit legal rounds to lower limit legal rounds is a faulty analogy. The lower limit legal ammo users generally only hurt themselves via misses called because of the lack of target report. Phantom

Main complaint...maybe. But if weighed it might be rather insignificant. Expecting the TO to consistently make sure they are in position to pick up light loads is right up there in the complaint scale. Phantom

This is...practically speaking...impossible. If you are going to write in a finish on rifle stage, facades will play into the equation. I believe that will all the variables (TO attention, Stage configuration, rifle bbl lengths and loads), finishing with the rifle is not good if you want to have a fair and consistent match. Here's the funny thing. Most of those that will raise hell if their category is nixed are the older folks. The older folks make up the majority of the shooters attending matches. Hmmmmm...will they come if they are thrown into a category where they have to compete against the younger folks? When during the TG meeting at last years Land Run a certain shooter (that regularly posts here on the Wire), raised hell when it was made known that the category collapsing was done incorrectly. His category...might have been SS Duelist...maybe ES Duelist...should have been collapsed down into Senior rather then kept while having the Senior category collapsed into the Duelist category. "You're not going to get rid of MY category!!!"...said he...or...something like that. Phantom
