    Is 10.5 grains enough powder?

I’m running 12 grains of promo (red dot) with everything else you’ve got and it gives the perfect crimp and everything.  7/8oz shot.

Several guys I shoot with are loading 13-14 grains red dot/promo with the same components and get good results.

Yes, this load works for me for some time now.  It patterned well for me and no problem with knockdowns.  Load a few and see for yourself.  Felt recoil is a lot better than the Winchester LNR AA.

  2. You can go on Marauder's Cowboy Page for some info. However if you want to do this yourself, WARNING: DO IT AT YOUR OWN RISK. You have to know what you are doing and have a very good understanding of how the SG works. If in doubt, have an experienced cowboy gunsmith do it for you as mentioned above. Good luck.

Been there - Done that. Never had problem with mine but I forgot our pistols for a monthly last summer. I borrowed a set of New Vaqueros to shoot. When I tried to run them at speed - skipped notches - slowed down and they were fine. The owner shoots slower so he never had the problem.

Seamus, you could've borrowed mine. Mine don't skip. But you have to shoot BP with it. :P:lol::lol:

I guess that depends on your definition of operates. I don't recall ever seeing an original single action colt with a transfer bar an no firing pin on the hammer. Seems like an integral part of the operating mechanism to me.

Cock hammer, pull trigger = single action. How the internal mechanism is constructed is irrelevant to me.

  6. .....................Firearms must operate as intended by the original pre-1900 designs they depict.

Wouldn't this statement completely rule out ruger vaqueros and new vaqueros? No. Ruger Vaqueros OPERATES as a single action like the original 1873 Colts.

As for the bp cattleman, I'm not really sure what the point is. Other than states and countries where SAA clones are not allowed that is.
