Wisht I could. Pards are off the the wilds of Calabogie, north of here for a day in the bush. My knees say: "Too sore for that! You sit by the campfire and suffer!" This gettin' old bit ain't fun. Think I'll try another type of knee brace. -
Trigger Happy Ted is getting a new knee

Interesting! Prayers up for Ted. I'm waiting to get both done. Good to hear about the results. -
Problem cleaning insides of brass
Cold Lake Kid, SASS # 51474 replied to Sedalia Dave's topic in SASS Wire
I soaked some cruddy brass in vinegar to help clean it out, before I had a sonic tumbler to augment my dry media tumbler. I guess that's why I started to experience case splitting. Any danger that CLR does anything like vinegar does to the brass? -

Merry Christmas to you and yours Grey Beard. I'll even throw in a Happy New Year! Another year older today. Taking the clan out to dinner at the Rideau Carleton Racetrack and Slots (Harness track) for Christmas dinner this year. Yay! I don't have to cook! Grump: She-Who-Must-Be-Obeyed has another group coming in tomorrow for dinner. Cookin' anyway! (Get off the Lawn!) Jabez: I'm jealous of the 6 foot wide plow; but not the size of your driveway in winter or the 4 hours it took to clear it. Stay Grumpy and, well, Merry Christmas! Oh, and a Happy New Year! -

Howdy back at ya! Nippy here today. Started the snow blower and blew the driveway clear although the wind picked up and started it drifting again. She-Who-Must-Be-Obeyed is looking at southern travel maps and Florida hotels but I want to be around for Winter Camp! (1791 more posts before the thread goes "POOF!") -
I agree Oddnews. A company relying on the MH as it's sole product won't last. It would have to be part of line-up of other products. A company such as Uberti being an obvious choice.

Yep. Same here. Don't want to spend time loading in summer. Too short up here to waste inside loading. Counted up the scheduled matches, figured out the ~round count, checked the number of loaded rounds left over from this years supply, counted empties and started the process. (Missed four year enders as well as the Upper and Lower Canada Wild Bunch Championship's after that that fall I took and busted three ribs, so I had around 500+ rounds of .45 Colt left over, plus shotgun and .45 ACP) The dry tumbler first, de-prime only, check case length, trim and de-burr, then into the Sonic cleaner. (I like my brass nice and shiny! Must be the magpie in me!) I'll load enough to ensure I can get through the matches with some practice along the way. Local LEO's did a "GULP" one day, when they stopped for coffee and saw the stocked ammo shelves in the gun/loading room. I showed them the match schedule, numbers of stages and the anticipated round count and they understood. Trying to get them to join us for some of the fun, but their shift schedules and young families kinda preclude that, but they have a standing invite. Must say one lad was really intrigued by my shiny SASS .45's so I may see him one day when match days and his Saturday off coincide. NOW GET OFF MY SNOW COVERED LAWN! (Yer gonna disturb the cinch bugs in there!) -

Got close to 10" here in the last storm, but the windsure piled up drifts! Patio door off the deck has a drift almost 3 feet up the window. Oh well: snow blower is working and #1 son said he'll shovel the deck once he gets home. -
My mother told me about this day and listening to the news with horror. My Father was a pre-war, Royal Canadian Air Force Regular, stationed at RCAF Station, Rockcliffe, in Ottawa. Great Britain, Canada and the rest of what is now the Commonwealth had been at war with Nazi Germany, since September 1939 and the prospect was looking grim. He and my Mother had only been married for three months and he was expecting his overseas (British Isles) transfer, momentarily, having just finished his embarkation leave. Monday evening, December 8, he returned from the air base and told her "With the Americans now fully in, we just won the war" Thank you America for your sacrifices. You helped my Father and most of my uncles to survive.

My woes? ! We ain't got enough time right now. Maybe later over a rum or three. (You know, the one Red Storm and I like: that 8 year old Bacardi the folks below the Medicine Line can't get!) OK, OK, Knees are aching pretty good even with the braces, pills and cortisone; snowed last night and it's still coming down - about 4" on my rear deck right now. Good thing # 1 son is home from work today HE can shovel while I try to run the snow blower after it stops. Found out I'm now married to a 71 year old woman, who now claims she's going to start counting backwards. Oh well, I suppose she's going to start on me on the 25th when I turn 73. Oh well, coffee's made and the waffle iron just "beeped" Later 'Gator HEY YOU KIDS - GET OFF THE LAWN! YER GONNA DAMAGE THE WEEDS! -

How do you handle food at monthly matches?
Cold Lake Kid, SASS # 51474 replied to Duncan Disorderly's topic in SASS Wire
Here, in and around the Ottawa Canada area, (Ottawa Valley Marauders, Wild Turkey Posse, Ruff's Regulators etc. we opted out of providing food during the spring, summer and fall matches and reduced the price per match accordingly. We provide cold bottled water, but the matches are advertised as "No Chuck-wagon" affairs and shooters bring their own lunches. Our sole winter match, (February - "Winter Camp") is the only one we'll provide hot beans and coffee in addition to what the shooters bring for their lunch. -

HAH! I recall them little "Kittys" Here in Ontario, it seems some "Stuff"-for-Brains, sitting in the Lands and Flowers offices inToronto, (the Centre of the Universe) decided it would be a good idea to re-introduce the Eastern Cougar. (They tried to deny it. but were caught out a few years ago) Last year, on 417, a truck struck and killed one. Ontario Provincial Police showed up and their report ID's the beast as a cougar. The Merry Men from Lands and Flowers showed up to claim the remains and ID'd it as "a large fur bearing animal". -

Big Red AKA Number 1 Son and I put up some lights around the veradah and the eavestrough, at the front of the house. Left the side of the place free of lights. We're on a corner with a creek and a designated wetland area across the street from us and I don't like to disturb the neighbouring coyotes, wolves, deer, occasional moose, and lately, a Martin. Neighbours are all former city dwellers and are wondering "What happened to my cat?" Posters up looking for lost cats all over the neighbourhood. Tried telling one citidiot and got a blank look like I was making things up. Now: GET OFF MY LAWN! -

He do got nice hair though. Too bad there ain't nothin' but solid rock underneath it. Some of our cousins, south of the medicine line, complain about elected officials who got no previous experience as an elected officials. Well heck, we'uns gots a boss that never had a permanent or fulltime job! He was a part-time drama teacher! And from what I see on TV, he couldn't have been very good at that! OK,Ya got me Grumpy! Now get off the lawn. (Lawn? What lawn? All I sees is white stuff!) -

Well, as long as he offers a few tid-bits to his sire...... And I said Tid-Bits, NOT Tim-Bits. (Do ya think we'll have to explain that one to our pards south of the Medicine Line?) Grumpy here right now. Foggy as all get out and rain turning to flurries later. Supposed to drop 15 cm of snow Sunday. Monday's drive into work should be a load of laughs; between the ones who haven't put on their snow tires and everyone who forgot how to drive in snow and ice. Since I'm retired, I don't have to go anywhere. So I won't. -

Already made up a Sweet and Sour Stew, from my SIL's receipe. Picking her up from the Nursing Residence to enjoy it. She likes game meals and became a real Canadian Outdoor GIrl before her stroke. (Not bad for a girl from Amritsar!) -

Oh LORD !, there is even celebrating among a lot of us here in Upper Canada, never mind in Rupertsland!! (Sure hope there will be some spill across the Medicine Line.) Back from getting my Free Range, Antibiotic and hormone free winter meat supplement. Couple of nice bucks for Doctor-Doctor Bob and I. Only trouble is he got both! Oh well. There's always next year. Good thing I picked up a chain block and replaced our grinder with a powered version. Those lads were heavy! Well, She-Who-Must-Be-Obeyed is calling, the fresh perked coffee and slices of fresh baked Banana Loaf are waiting. Chimo. -
