  1. A couple of new to me tuned 1871 Open Tops with 7 1/2" barrels to go with my 1866 Yellow Boy, all in .45 Colt. Back to shooting Classic, I guess, although I do like my SASS NMV's in .45 to go with the .45 Colt E.M.F. 1873 SASS She-Who-Must-Be-Obeyed gave me last year for my birthday. Decisions - Decisions
  2. I think I may have ya beat Jabez. And my horrible example was from a private company!! I was a Purchasing Agent for a major national capital Canadian city, who was responsible for, among other things, the purchase of photo supplies and services. Accounts Payable came to me and showed me an invoice, from a photo supply shop, mailed in a separate envelope, for .01 That's one penny. We were thinking about sending a cheque for that amount, but then realized our response would hit the 6:00 news.
  3. I feel for ya Pard, but have bit of pity for me. I have to prepare income tax forms for 5 people. Finished one yesterday, using Turbotax, only to find the on-line filing didn't work -"Busy. Come Back Later" signal. So I fired up the printer and ran it off that way to mail it via snail mail. Hey, you folks in Shawinigan want paper? Well here it is! Enjoy! Cost me $6.50 to mail all the paper forms and receipts. NOW, GET OFF THE SOGGY LAWN!
  4. Page three? Nobody Grumpy? OK, I'll make ya all Grumps Grumpy or even Grumpier, on both sides of the Medicine Line with three little words: INCOME TAX TIME
  5. That looks like a GRUMPY Cat. He fits right in and I second his nomination. Get off the lawn.
  6. Jabez! Wondered where you got to. Back to Uganda are ya?! Well hope ya have a good trip. Now that pictures have got a little easier to post on the wire, we'll be expecting some here. Freezing rain here today. Again. Driveway is a skating rink, so I spread some sand, grit and Alaska Ice Melt. With the current snow cover, we don't want it getting too warm, too fast around here. (The creek beside my place was running high the other day, so I guess the Rideau, Gatineau and Ottawa rivers are starting to rise.) Lookin' for sorta warm days and cold night for a while. Oh well, at least now I'm retired, I won't be getting calls at 2:00 AM from panicking foreman, telling me the river is overflowing, they ran out of sand bags and they have an ice jamb and no more 40% to blow it. LOL Now get off my lawn.
  7. Another layer of snow here. Wet stuff. Wet and heavy stuff. Where the Heck is that there Glow-Ball warming I keep hearing about? HEY! YOU! Ya You! Get off my lawn!
  8. JABEZ! Ya ornery horn toad! Quit sendin' your dag nab snow this way!! Woke up this morning to find another few inches on the ground. Looks like Christmas around here. Again. IT'S SPRING GOL DURN IT! Enough already! OK, I feel better now. Fresh coffee's on the stove. Help yerself while I make the waffles.
  9. Two Spurs - I could get to hate you! Celebrating St. Patrick's Day here. Have our Territorial Governor and a couple of other posse members here to imbibe in a touch of the creature and corned beef and cabbage. Even had some beer from my ancestors home county, Kilkenny along with Guinnes and Harp. Tullamore, Jamesons and Bushmills Black for desert. Goverrnor's staying over. Wives drive the others home. Get off the lawn.
  10. Blizzard and cold here. Winds are brisk. I sure wish we could see some of that Glow-Ball warming I keep hearing about. Ya sent yore winter here, didn't ya, ya basket! Just came in from blowing the driveway and shoveling the veranda. Two to two and a half feet in the flat and close to five where it's drifted. Blower was just tunneling through the drifts. Stuck cars all over the place. #1 son just got back from Florida and had to go to work. He's still muttering to himself. Think I'll go into hibernation mode for a bit. Never mind the lawn, get off the snow bank and quit knocking down where I just cleared!
  11. Blizzard and cold here. Winds are brisk. I sure wish we could see some of that Glow-Ball warming I keep hearing about.
  12. Got ya beat on the temperature front: Went down to -31 Only a skiffle of snow and it blew away with the high winds! Blew my flag to rags. Had to hoist a new one this morning. Got three I'll have to discreetly burn. #1 Son, Big Red, just back from two weeks in Florida; Shorts and sandals before he got on the plane - Parka, toque and Mukluks when he got off.
  13. Banana bread? Oh Boy! SWMBO makes it when she's feeling well. Nice eating. Neighbours little ones often come a'knockin' when they smell the loaves cookin' Coffee and a couple of slices of buttered banana bread!
  14. Pumpkin Cookies? Sounds good. If I start now I can be there in 4 or 5 days. Leave a light in the window.
  15. Reluctantly Dapper, reluctantly. Some of the things endured by range operators, trying to deal with ever changing, contradictory, whimsical and expensive "regulations", not found in anything written down, can be discouraging. Have a look at Canadiangunnutz for some of the antics being reported. The saving grace is that we still have a number of high profile people who are shooters and CAS participants to boot! In fact, I was introduced to SASS by a fellow who was in the PMO's office at the time. My posse has a regular member who was an MP and who is in the PM race. (No, not Kevin O) A good man, who I support and call a friend.
  16. Running around -15 here in Canada's capital. Have to miss a guns show in Renfrew, SWMBO is ill and I don't want to leave her alone. Now: GET OFF MY LAWN!
  17. Only three times as grumpy? More than that I think. I'm grumpy 'cause Jabez hasn't regaled us with his sojourn in the dark continent. (Is that still politically correct?)
  18. Did you know there are only 1705 post to go before this thread goes "POOF"? Oh yeah, And GET OFF MY LAWN!
  19. Cookies? Did someone say COOKIES?? Choclit Chip Cookies? Me want!!
  20. Jabez: Naw, by the time I had recovered, I had met the girl of my dreams, was working for the city with really good promotion prospects, was enrolled in courses that led to a CPPO and an MBA and the parents had come back east, where they had originally come from. Now, too well vested/nestled in the area, watching over a son who needs help,(Bad birth; lack of O2-Don't get me started) a BIL and a SIL in nursing homes, for whom I act as POA, as well as my Church work. Looking at a bigger more comfortable motor home, She-Who-Must-Be-Obeyed* could be comfortable in; if I find one, maybe this summer, because I'd love to come in last at some of your matches. *SWMBO has had a couple of strokes, is severely diabetic and very unstable on her feet, having fallen and hurt herself a number of times.
  21. Bad heart. Had to come east for the life saving surgery. Met a girl. You know the rest.
  22. Feb. 22, cloudy and +1C. here in Canada's capital. Sap is starting to run in some bushes, taps are going into the maples, kettles are getting cleaned up and fuel stocked for the boil! Starting to drool.
  23. Wish I could say the same about the snow. Driveway looked like a tunnel until I was able to shovel a few feet off the top of the pile, to get ready for the next dump. Snow blower was having trouble shooting the snow to the top of the pile Melting a bit today, but nothing like your way Jabez! Gotta miss those Chinooks! And: GET OFF THE LAWN!
  24. Oh sure! Rub it in! You got the mild weather out in God's country. I got snow. Lots and lots of snow. Blower is now having problems getting it up high enough to get it over the banks. Driveway is starting to resemble a tunnel. And it's still coming down; so; GET OFF MY LAWN!! Oh Yeah: Welcome back!
