  1. Been up this trail to the top of Whitney many times. When I was 18, I hiked the John Muir Trail with 2 friends from start to finish. Took 2 months and we had a blast.

Ima and I still remember the outstanding Venison you cooked for us at RR-BAR, many years ago.

Still the best we ever had! ;)

We had a great time at that shoot and really enjoyed feeding our group. Changed some peoples mind about the taste of wild game meat too!

  3. I too use Boattail bullets in all my hunting and target loads. I load them for .300 Wby Mag. 30-06 25-06 and .220 Ackley Improved Swift. Bettet accuracy and velocity. This is my .220 , notice the chrono velocity. I also did the stockwork on it.

  4. Our local Safeway market had it's Easter sale when it sells big hams and prime rib for really cheap prices. I bought a large prime rib and cut it into really nice rib eye steals. The prime rib was on sale for 5.98/pound. It weighed 9.8# and I got 10 nice steaks out of it. Rib Eyes for 5.98 a pound, what a buy! I also cut off the ribs and put them in my smoker and then grill them.

We do it every year when they have a sale at Easter and Christmas.

  5. Our shooting club's outdoor range is planning on recovery/recycling of the lead/copper bullet residue in our berms. We don't have a shotgun range so no lead shot recovery possible. We are looking for any experience or advice with contractors who do this work.

Open land, not part of the residence or curtilage, is typically searchable without a warrant in most states.

Here a Game Warden has the right to search a residence without a warrant if they suspect a fish & game law has been broken.

The deer do belong to the state. That's obvious. If it was my deer, I could shoot it anytime of the year, I could shoot it anytime of the day, I could shoot it no matter how old it was, I could shoot it no matter what sex it was, and I could shoot it with anything from a 22 short to a 577 tyrannosaur. Because it's my deer. I can butcher my cow like that. I can butcher my pig like that. I can butcher my sheep like that. But I can't butcher my deer like that. Because it's not my deer. It's the state's, and they make the rules.

But whether the deer belongs to me or the state, it is still my property.

I got a ticket from code enforcement one time. They said I had an abandoned vehicle. I told them that it was my truck and it was parked in my front yard so how could it be abandoned? They said it did not have a current license plate, which by Florida law made it abandoned. I wanted to know how he knew it did not have a current license plate, and he said he looked.

I back my trucks in. It's easier to get into my yard while backing, and easier to get out of my yard by driving straight out. So I back in. The only way he can see my license plate, or lack thereof, would be to get his happy ass out of his cop car and walk up into my yard and go around behind my truck and look.

I did not invite him into my yard, which makes that trespass - a misdemeanor.

He was wearing a gun, which makes that armed trespass, which is a felony in the state of Florida.

I wonder what would have happened if I had pulled a gun on him and tried to make a citizen's arrest?

Actually I'm pretty sure what would happen. I would end up down at the gray bar Hotel.

What has that got to do with Game Wardens and search warrants?

If I were fifty-five years younger, I'd be down in Texas banging on Musk's door and asking if he could use a rocket engine engineer, or even a janitor!

    Ad Astra!

Amen to that! Or in Hawthorne < Ca at the Northrop buildings at Hawthorn Airport that it bought from Northrop when the 747 Program was sold by Northrop and moved out.

Big Sade...and we did all that with sliderules and maybe a Friden desktop mechanical calculator, or later with large mainframe computers. We recovered Space Shuttle SRB's using parachutes, not backing down on their own exhaust plumes like Falcon 9.

I still have my slide rule. I remember all the IBM cards we punched to ad data and program the old mainframes. The SRB's were towed into port by tug. Flushed down with fresh water and disassembled for reuse. Sometimes the cases used to make the SRB bodies could not be reused, depending how much erosion was present around the O ring seals.

Which has nothing to do with the statement I responded to. Or the fact that what SpaceX is doing is far beyond the space program of 1960s.

I am a product of the 60's thru the 80"s. I started working on the Apollo/Saturn Program when I graduated from college in 1963. Worked on the Space Shuttle after the Apollo was done. Stayed in the Industry until I retired in 2000 at 58 years old. Back then if our people had access to the computer technology we have today, they would have knocked it out of the ballpark a lot faster (and cheaper) then we did then. We had brilliant minds that advanced state of the art technology with tools that would seem like those the Wright Brothers used to todays engineers! I consulted for Space X when they were just starting before 2000 and they have done one thing that I thought impossible when I first worked with them....that is recovery and reuse of their booster . We did that on the Space Shuttle, but it was very rudimentry when compared to what they do today.

Just contact Misty or Ruby at SASS and they will get you going. They are great folks to deal with in my book.

My wife Sly Puppy got her 10 year pin. She is now at 15years.

They should send them out automatically as earned. especially for Life members. I have been a Life member for over 15 years and have never heard of them.

If I remember correctly, D 1 players were not allowed to play varsity ball as freshmen, at that time.  I'm pretty sure Maravich set the record in three years.

The Milwaukee Bucks refurbished our gym at Concordia College Milwaukee when I attended college there (1972-1974).  As payment, they practiced there, and out of town teams also had use of the facilities.  I got to watch Pete Maravich practice once.  I have never personally witnessed another human being with that shooting ability in my life.

You are right about Freshman not playing varsity sports. I had a football scholarship to a major west coast university (i959 thru 1963) and I had to play freshman football.

I remember when Babe Ruth's HR record was broke and they put an asterisk beside Roger Maris's 61 HR's. But not there anymore, even Hank Aarons record too. Her record is her record to stand until someone else breaks it......no asterisks please!

  14. I vote every year and have for the last 20 years or so. I NEVER vote for an incumbent director or one nominated by the a Director or the Nominating Committee. This year, I think I only voted for 9 Directors and my self as a write-in. The only way to get change is to elect new people!

  15. I have 3 of them, but all have been sporterized. One in original military clothing will be pricey!

This one is the first one. I got it when I was 12 and of course I had to make it look like all the modern rifles. It has the second stock I made when I was 18.

The second one is a .220 Ackley Improved Swift. All that is left from the Springfield is the action. I made the stock too.

  16. The Olds had the awesome J-2 option for their 371 ci engine. I bought one from a junkyard in 1960 and put it in my 56 Ford 1/2 ton PU. It was really fast, used to drag race it. I always like the 57 Fords. I have one, a Ranchero with a Pantera 351 Cleveland engine. Lots of fun to drive.
