  1. I just saw in our local newsletter that the mobile wall will be in Baldwin Park, CA 3/14 thru 3/17.  I looked on their website and this is the first of 4 stops in California.  Just thought I would let you all know, for those who want/need to see it and haven't had the chance or can't get the chance to make it to DC to see the full size version.

  2. Why is it that every time there is a post about California, in this case it is even a positive one, some fine individuals ( my true thoughts would get me banned) have the gall to accuse me directly for the laws in California?  You don’t like Californians, fine. Keep your negative opinions to yourself in your own backwards state.

You cannot buy legal ammo in CA without filling out a DROS, no matter how you pay for it.

That was blocked by a judge yesterday and most places no longer do the background check... at least until the state gets another judge to block the block....

  4. In high school we played what they called "greek dodge", or "killer ball".  On a basketball court, 2 teams.  When you were hit, you went to the far side of the court, so each team was getting thrown at from front and behind.  The coaches always started us with a few of the red rubber balls.  As the coaches got bored, they would throw in more of the red balls.  When they got real bored, they would throw in a volleyball.    The red marks from getting hit in the face from the red ball would go away after a short while.  The impressions of the volleyball on your face would last long enough so that everybody in your next class knew you didn't get out of the way fast enough.

  5. At my first desk job many years ago, the desks sat face to face.  I rigged one of the drawers of the guy that works across from me with lever and a rod so when he opened the drawer I could shut it from my side of the desk.  and then I could push it open.  spooked him at first, thought his desk was haunted.  He was one of these guys that thinks everything is haunted or possessed.  Worked great until I started laughing...

Well no, but you don't like to wear them.

I got tagged one year because I "ask difficult questions in meetings".  If you dont want questions about the crazy crap you want us to build, then don't invite an engineer.  I thought that is why you invite an engineer to a design review....

Anyway, here is a cartoon since this is a cartoon thread....

Still trying to decide if we should put up a statue to him or burn him in effigy

What we need to do is convince the general population that only about 2% of them should be seen in Yoga Pants!!!

  8. Years ago, the company paid a decorator to come in and "redo" our office.  Basically, they painted the walls, put in some badly needed new carpet and put up these 3ftx4ft art prints throughout the offices.  Me, being me, decided to update the art a bit.  I added details (in a way that could easily be removed).  Some were noticed quickly.  The one with Gort at the top of the stairs was in our front lobby and went months before anybody noticed it.  That was a while ago, but they popped back in mind when our safety manager put a notice on the bathroom mirror... that I had to improve with a slight addition....

I surely can't be the only person that never leaves the country. So I'm just wondering how many normal people have passports.

Hey Alpo, since when do you consider yourself "Normal"? :P

I have one because I had to travel to The Netherlands for work.  Work paid for it, and they paid for the expedite fee because the trip was very short notice.  Company did pay for a "business" class seat because it met the "international" travel requirements for length of flight. :D That was an experience considering I had only ever flown as part of the herd of cattle squeezed into the little seats in the back of the plane...there are advantages of being part of a multinational company.  I got the simple card at the same time because we also have a company just south of the border and since the company was paying, why not.

BTW, surely I dont consider myself normal.... and dont call me Shirley.

  10. Yes, body jewelry can be replaced. I have never heard of jewelry in a piercing being soldered closed. There is permanent jewelry that consists of chains that are welded closed once fit as a bracelet, anklet, or necklace.

piercings should not be changed out until they have healed. Some piercings can take a year or longer to be fully healed.

  11. With the long barrel, if you ever miss a shotgun target you may be able to lean forward a little and knock it over with the barrel.  Easier than reloading and firing again! :D

I have a stack of stickers of this and randomly place them near outlets and powerboxes here at work.  They are still all up and I havent heard anybody say anything about them.  I'm guessing warning labels are generally ignored no matter what they warn of.

Maybe I will put one in the safety guy's office and see if he notices it....
