  1. reason I always wanted to be first out of the door--the truck parks at the beginning of the drop zone--back of the stick ends up way out from it. we put the biggest troops at the back and they would lower their shoulders and push everyone in front of them to speed up the process. and no one ever floated away once out the plane . . . cause gravity is just just a good idea, it's THE LAW
  2. they didn't have the drugs we have today, minor illnesses could be fatal back then
  3. off the track here but . . . that's why I wondered why the Army put velcro on the field jacket sleeves down where you adjust the end, this being in the late 60s to early 70s
  4. It's been an interesting week here in Space City. Beryl was something else. We've seen evidence of a few twisters showing up, too. Still have 400,000+ without power and with humidity above 70%, temps above 90° and no wind or clouds it makes for long days of cutting down toppled trees, cleaning yards plus just "enjoying" our Texas summer. A lot of friends and neighbors helping one another, having folks over for the night or longer while the power is restored. The linemen have been working 24/7 to get things back but there's a ways to go. Keep us in your prayers
