Could the threads be removed and the rifle now be SASS legal? (Bubba with a hack saw, vice and a 6-pack come to mind) recrown the barrel and touch-up bluing and good to go??

Lord knows I'm no expert but the length of ammo also plays a factor in this. If the rounds are too short, the one ahead of the one on the carrier can come out of the mag tube and jam the works, too

If visitors show up without a member accompanying them we usually will see if they would like to "shoot a few" after the match. We have a number of us who will stay after and let them learn about and fire our guns. If they don't want to we are still happy as clams to answer their questions.
