Was watching a video the other day. "Things Southerners say in Walmart." Most of it was idiotic but one had this woman complaining that Walmart was making their bags thinner. "What am I going to use for a trash bag in my bathroom now?"

    Doesn't everybody do that?

I have two tall kitchen cans, that use the 11 gallon tall kitchen trash bags. But all of the wastebaskets in my house have got a grocery store bag in them. Not just the bathroom - all of them. Walmart, Publix, Winn-Dixie, Harbor Freight - anybody, everybody.

Is that just a southern thing? Don't the rest of y'all do that?

Yep I do up here in NE Ohio. I also put food scraps in them and put them in the freezer and put them in the garbage on pickup day.

  2. I always wondered why Doc Adam’s on Gunsmoke had his office on the second floor. Pretty hard to get really injured folks up there although he did make house calls,  but if a gunshot victim didn’t live there it would have been difficult to get them up there. He could have had a first floor office!

I stop sending donations to the charities that send me "free" junk.  Very expensive programs that reduce the quantity of dollars they can use for their cause.  One I supported for decades must have gotten a new Director.  I wrote him once asking that he keep the stuff, ignored.  Now they don't get my money.

I send to one every few months and as soon as I send the money within a week I have more stuff from them, address labels, scratch pads, greeting cards. I stopped sending to them and suddenly the stuff stopped coming. I’ll donate to the Salvation Army and that’s it. I give some money to a couple local charities that I trust.

  4. 15 seconds is a long time to reload but if you’re fumbling it could be I guess. It should take no more than 5 seconds but stuff happens! 😳

  5. What else makes me question the doubling of your donation is when they say “ for a limited time”. If I had any idea to give to a charity that would make me skeptical. Maybe it’s just me but there’s a lot of people out there that make me question their motives.

It is common for business to business companies and billionaires not to disclose their name.  Business to consumer companies often display their name.

As mentioned, a company plans to donate X amount and tells the nonprofit they'll match anything up to X amount by Y date.  Is there really a donation matcher? Yes.  Is there sometimes fraud?  Yes.

@Rip Snorter Are you sure it was a 30% legal limit rather than the nonprofit trying to match the ratio they filled out on the transparency paperwork?  Nonprofits often follow a self imposed ratio since it has to be filed and is public record.   When I worked in non-profit fundraising there was no such federal maximum legal operating ratio.  Some states had additional laws.

How do you know that it’s common for companies not to disclose their names? Why? It seems it would be in their favor , I don’t believe there’s anyone matching funds, I think it’s a big ploy by the non profit!

  7. If a company is willing to match donations for a little while my question is why not announce who they are? That would be great advertising! Bottom line is I DON’T BELIEVE ITS BEING DOUBLED, it’s just a way to get you donate!

  8. There are many organizations asking for donations, that’s fine most are legit but my question is, how does your donation’s impact DOUBLE? Many will say this, “ If you donate now your donation will have twice the impact, it will double its value but only for a short time please hurry!

Really? So how does it double ? Is there someone stepping in to match all the donations? If so why not say who they are? Hmmmmm………..🙄

  9. My parents went out of town one time for a funeral for relatives I hardly knew. I was 16, It was during the school year. I stayed at my sisters house for about 4-5 days. I don’t remember who’s idea it was but I enjoyed staying with my sister and brother-in law!

Well, I had high hopes for the new show....but I thought it was terrible. Completely disjointed, zero character development, terrible acting and hard to follow plotline.

I'll give it one more chance next week but if it's the same way as the opener tonight, I'm done.

It was so boring I fell asleep zzzzzzzz

Bunch o' good ol' boys going fast and turning left. Enjoy.

I enjoyed watching this race, I saw the last few minutes of it. Heck of a lot more exciting than left turns.

Not this one!  Mostly a Formula 1 type track (think Grand Prix on a dedicated circuit).

As @sassnetguy50 mentioned, lots of turns and even moderate hills.  Of course they do go much much faster (briefly!) in the straightaways, but over the course of the track speeds average under 77 MPH due to the "challenging layout," with turns in both directions and even hairpin turns.  Perhaps not as exciting due to fewer and far less spectacular crashes, but they do occur.  Takes skill!
