  1. We have 3 shooting styles for our long range. Shooting style competes against shooters in same shooting style. The styles are benched sand bags, sticks and offhand. We don't have a big turn out for long range match. Primarily our older club members that can't shoot a fast paced cowboy match any longer but still love to shoot. We don't give awards for any of our monthly matches so having several long range shooting styles doesn't cost the club anything.
  2. 10-SECOND PENALTIES 10-second penalties include “Procedural” (P) penalties and Minor Safety Violations (MSV). Procedural errors are simple, unintentional mistakes made as a result of “brain fade” or confusion, where the competitor engages the stage in a way other than how it was intended. Procedural penalties cannot exceed one per stage. This is at bottom of page 22 Unfired round penalty is specifically spelled out. Doesn't apply for comparison. If stage called for 10 rifle rounds did the shooter follow stage instructions? Whiskey
  3. I'm afraid to answer. My trolls this site. Whiskey
  4. Long Hunter sales the Slixsoks. Best 2 pistol case out there.
  5. Six I own a 240 Weatheryby. It is a very good cartridge and an accurate rifle. I’ve owned since 1972. Of course I glassed the action and floated the barrel. I shot a lot of deer, ground hogs and coyote with it. Most accurate load was with Speer 105 gr bullet. Longer Bullets worked best in my rifle due to long free bore Weatherby’s have. Can’t remember powder but at the time it was slowest Hodgedon made. I’ll dig out my old data and get back to you. Whiskey
  6. Now I'm beginning to understand. You use to beat me by 20 seconds a stage but at the TN State and SE Regional you beat me by 21 seconds a stage. What's worse is you eat 2 nanner splits by the time I eat 3/4's of mine. How much money did you spend on that modified spoon. No wait I just had a thought. Get 2 of them modified spoons and in 2 years we'll all beat you by at least 5 seconds a stage. Yes that's the ticket mods are good TNW. Whiskey
  7. Not only is Tucker a fine craftsman he is also a good fun cowboy to have on your posse. Class act with everything he does. Whiskey
  8. Anytime it's above 40 F , below 90 F and no rain a day at the range is a fun day.
  9. In a total time match percent penalty per stage does not matter. It is the percentage for the entire match. I'll use RSE as an example. Randy had two misses for the entire match his total time was 242.53. Randy had 2 misses so if he had shot clean his total time would have been 232..53. Two misses was 4.3% penalty for the entire match for Randy. Percent penalty for a miss is based on the shooter's own ability for the entire match using total time. This method holds true if all shooters shot the same raw time and number of misses determined the results. Just another way to look at the data. I do agree with Williams the fastest shooter with the fewest misses will win a total time match. Whiskey
  10. We did this so folks won't have to mess with the sights on their favorite lever or pump .22. So bring that go to pest control .22 and have a good time. I agree TW is off but I don't think those white diamonds had anything to do with it. I tend to think the delivery doctor dropped him on his head.
  11. I owe everyone an apology. The rumitize hit me hard this afternoon. I’m painless now but there are a couple of empty spots on the shelf.
  12. I have also heard a rumor that Slater is bringing several slicked up Henry .22's plus several other guns that will be for sale at the match. Whiskey
  13. I’m coming. This is a great match. Charlie came to Wartrace Aug 3rd. I had the privilege of being on his posse. It was hot and humid. He kept an eye on this old fat man to be sure I was ok. I can’t thank him enough. Great shooter but a greater cowboy. Whiskey
  14. With TB best to follow Hodgden manual. TB doesn’t perform well outside of manual’s loads. I shot it for 10 years.
  15. I've had the privilege of handling a Widder Magic Henry with the Slater trigger. I can say it is the finest .22 I've ever handled. I own a 9422 and have had a couple of the BL22's and Widder's .22 puts them all to shame. I did ask Widder to work on my 9422 and he snickered. I still like my 9422 because it is a real Winchester. I own a 9417 which is a fine gun but it actually isn't a Winchester by purest standards but I like it. Rambled a little bit, back on subject. If you ever have the chance to get a Henry Widder 22 my advice is jump on it like a frog on a fly. Whiskey Hayes
  16. Williams I saved you from the P but you need to look around at the spotters. If your spotters are 89 year old you need to slow down just a second. Your guns sounded like one shot, you don't even know if you hit them all. The only way we knew you fired all 20 rounds is when the ULT officer told us in fact you unloaded so fast don't think he was real sure. Whiskey
  17. You need to remove each side plate lock. One screw is at the hammer. You'll need to cock hammer to get a screw driver on this screw. Another lock plate screw is at the butt stock end of lock plate. This screw has a threaded tube going through the butt stock and is threaded to the screw on the opposite lock plate. I always use 2 screw drivers to remove at least 1 of these screws. These screws are very small with a very shallow slot. Easy to strip if screw driver bit does not fit. There is also a screw hidden by thumb latch release lever on top. You'll need to push latch release to see this screw. Think I covered all the screws you didn't mention. Whiskey
  18. I’m coming and PaPa Dave is coming with me. Great match, great cowboys and cowgirls putting it on. Can’t wait. Whiskey
  19. Here are pictures of an American Derringer and a Bond Mini. Look close at the picture of the American. It is laying on top of the Bond Mini. They are both well built guns. The weak link on my American Derringer has been the hammer shuttle (correct name?). It only hits the bottom half of the firing pin. If dry fired a lot the top of the hammer shuttle will chip off. They both can be tuned to be used in competition. Neither one is hard to work on. The American resembles the original Remington closer.
  20. I’ve loaded TB for several years pushing a 180 grain min load. Very stable at low and high temps. Don’t drift from published load data. I’ve recently started working with Clean Shot in 45 Colt. It’s a good powder. I tested all the regular powders down to 23 F and TB was the best. Coldest I’ve shot CS is 38 F, very stable and not position sensitive. If temps get low enough this winter and time allows I’ll test it at colder temps. Whiskey
  21. My rusty trusty 9422 is rusting so bad now due to the tears I’ve had to put in an oil bath. Widder and Slater should be ashamed of themselves for giving a good old rifle the blues.
  22. My 9422 was ashamed to even get out of the truck. Whiskey
  23. Waimea, don't worry about no slicked up Widder/Slater tricked out magic gun. All they use is smooth Jiffy peanut butter as a special lube. Now I will have my rusty trusty 9422 at the State Match that you can borrow. I have crammed it full of that Widder/Slater special lube and it is smooth. Whiskey
  24. This the tentative schedule. It won't change much if any. Whiskey 2018 Important Times.pdf
  25. We’ll I lubed up my main match guns on Wednesday using Widder’s special secret lube. Didn’t work to good it was dry and crusty today. Guns were very stiff. All I had on hand was Kroger brand but it was smooth. What went wrong?
