Dad had a Remington Model 8 in .35 Remington and I graduated from a Model 94 Winchester .30-30 carbine to a 1903A3 .30-06 sporter, all with iron sights and only one even had an adjustable peep sight, and now I'm told that they aren't sufficient for any game bigger than a pussy cat or a bunny rabbit.

I have no idea. All I remember is that it was a very tiny little two passenger critter with fore and aft seats and a cockpit cover that hinged sideways.

I went to the VA hospital today and there were three dogs in two cars. The temperature was about 90 outside and probably much more inside.
I went to the desk and asked them to call the campus police. They showed up and didn't know what to do. I told them to bust the windows. They called for permission and were told to break the windows. They didn't know how, (don't carry night sticks anymore I guess) so I introduced them to one of the rocks all over the ground and busted one of the windows. The obviously senior cop said I didn't have permission to do that, so I handed him the rock and told him I'd swear he broke it. The other guy found his own rock and they got he dogs out, and into a shady spot, and someone brought water for them.
When I came back from my appointment the cars and dogs were gone.
I asked the guys at the desk what happened. They said someone brought the dogs in and said they were running loose. The owner came storming in raising hell about broken windows so the campus police went looking for the vandals who had done such an awful thing.
A little baby girl died in a locked carnear here a week or so ago. She had been left in the back seat for several hours by a teen age baby sitter who simply forgot her.
A charge of negligent homicide was pending last I heard.
Man or beast, that is a horrible way to die.
