OKD, just like the bottom of the shotgun shell there is going to be a blow out! 😎 Seeing as I am an LSU fan I'm just hoping for my team to win.  OU did a heck of a job last week with Bama so it should be a good game.

  2. Shooter came to me on Saturday, during match, held two Shotgun shells out and asked if I had seen something like this before.

Could not remember, but asked if I could take one and ask around about it.

Brand new factory grey shotshells.  He shoots a sxs, not sure of make or model.  Last two rounds on the stage and targets went down.  Do nto know if he had to extract them of they just fell out.

I'm Just asking if anyone has seen this before.  If so, thoughts, possibilities,

Is it still possible that Oklahoma can slip by LSU this coming weekend?  Intrigue is everywhere, if you look!  :D  :FlagAm:

USFA China Camp with Colt 3rd gen grips.  Most of the material removed was from the top side of the back strap.  The butt end didn't need much at all.  The bottom of the frame just behind the trigger guard is slightly proud of the grips, but there was no way to get it any closer as the top of the grips were flush to the frame.  The holes for the stock pins were marked and bored out very close to the original holes.

    I thank you most kindly!

I gotta say, outside of having the original grips, anything after that, requires a custom fit.

Think I will just sell em and be further down the road!

Many thanks to everyone that chimed in,

    Closed.

  4. Thanks Boggus Deal.

I will search for some 2nd Gen grips in my dusty boxes.

I saw that brown colored ones....Hmmmm...kinda lame?  Could be I am Vain.

I seem to remember Black ones for the I bought from Long Hunters, back in the old early to mid 2000's.

Saw some black ones that they wanted 60 per grip.  Not wanting to spend that much.

    And the search continues.

  5. Lack of original grips and looking for possible replacements.

Will original Colt SAA's (1st, 2nd or 3rd/.....4th?) work on em?

I have seen some outfits that make after market grips for them, like azcustomgrips, has anyone got experience from a purchased after market grips?

Thanks for any thoughts and or directions.

  6. I think you are looking for the 510- series on the serial number, for the Ruger New Model Vaquero in 357Mag with the color case hardening frame. At least the ones that I have had and still have, are in that range.

They are kinda hard to find, but crop up once in a while, usually in a gun auction site or gunbroker/gunsamerica websites. I just sold a pair recently, so they can be found. Price ranges from 5-600 per gun. Unless there is some modifications/action job done to them.

    Good luck on your quest.

  7. Cannot imagine how the split extractor would affect anyone's ability to shoot anywhere near as fast as the gun is capable of. More modifications is not necessarily better. I built a Bunch of 200's with split extractors ( used to be ejectors) and never had an issue with them needing welding,

Take nothing away from Dirt Merchant, he was doing SKB action jobs before they were popular.

That said, I can see where a stuck hull might be a little bit easier to shuck with a unified extractor versus a split. No over governing evidence, just my thoughts, be that right or wrong.

When two split extractors are welded together there is one moving piece, versus two moving pieces doing the work. I would imagine that the welded one piece is more reliable and efficient then two. Speed aside, I am referring to consistency in doing a particular job.

Any game is about efficiency, the fewer unknowns or moving parts one has to worry about.... the more focused one can be. Another example is the Ruger Vaquero transfer bar....Some shooters say it works perfectly and are happy with leaving it in, other shooters remove it, do to the potential risk of breaking during a match. Shooters choice.

Any way you look or feel about it, shooters get to do, (within the current laws) what they think will work best for them.

    Great sport. :D
