Let's cut to the chase...

Would like it to be a period replica Well he asked for period correct. And call me crazy but cowboys didn't carry bowie knives and fancy dan knives. -
Let's cut to the chase...

The first knife you show is period correct. It was offered by many of the trade companies. It was easy to make and durable, Think weight, bowie knives aren't light. The fancy pearl grips and finely made blades an average cowboy wouldn't wear or afford. My $5 qorth. -
So according to those who think they know . Agriculture and the domestication of animals. It meant a stable and consistent food source. Sans droughts, hail, pests, and thieves. And domestic animals meant again food, labor source, and clothing. Which meant they could stay in one place and build villages leading to cities. Then they invented the internet and it all went wrong.

The brainiacs say agriculture was the launch for real civilization.

I like her and her politics. She is on many panels discussing political issues in the UK. She rips into the woke like no one else. -
Another 'Out of Battery' in southern Arizona (1866)

I put it in a vice and bent it by hand. The lever is fairly soft metal. -
Another 'Out of Battery' in southern Arizona (1866)

As I got faster with my 66 I had 2 OBD. Bent the lever each time. I took the lever out and bent it back. It became my pistol caliber long range rifle. I got a 73 and left the safety in. No issues since. Unless you can remember to keep your finger from pulling before its in battery you may be surprised again. -
Enjoyed this song in the 60's. Had no clue what he was singing about. Now seeing the translation makes it even more poinyent.

Restored a BAR

Not really restored, just cleaned up a rusty wall hanger. -
Having interacted with Federal, State, County and City employees throughout my career I can offer this. There is an underlying culture or attitude that has brought the current level of service. That is, 'hey they can't fire me so'....... Just watch how they move and walk around. Its like they're trying to see how long they cam make last. USPS needs to be privatized. Bring an Elon type approach.

Homeowners Insurance...?
irish ike, SASS #43615 replied to Hardpan Curmudgeon SASS #8967's topic in SASS Wire Saloon
The California forest fires have wrecked havoc on homeowners insurance. My daughter lives on the edge of a forest. When we bought the house HO Insurance was $5,000. Because of the risk. After the Paradise fire the company doubled the rate to $10,000. Went to Farmers with a rate of $6K. Another fire even closer to my daughter brought the rate up to $7K. The issue now for all those areas is if you want to sell your home buyers can't get insurance. And without insurance, no mortgage loans. No sale. -
I recently did a sale and the funds were sent through Zelle. Money drops into the account. Boom no way to take it back. Happened the same day as agreed upon sale.

I've enjoyed 1883, Yellowstone and 1923.. Waiting to see 1943. But 8 episodes with 2 years between seasons is a joke. All TV series seem to be doing this. Why?

Government .45-70 Long Distance Black Powder load question
irish ike, SASS #43615 replied to Sailor Jim's topic in SASS Wire
Sandy Hook was a trial to substantiate that Billy Dixon, and a BP Sharps could reach the distance. It wasn't a 45-70. At the Second Battle of Adobe Walls in June 1874, Billy Dixon famously shot an Indian from a distance of 1,538 yards (7/8 of a mile) using a .50-90 Sharps rifle. Thats how you get 80 grains of powder. -

Robin Williams Stand Up Set from 1977
irish ike, SASS #43615 replied to Chantry's topic in SASS Wire Saloon
His stand-up on the Scots inventing golf is the best. The videos of him interacting with Koko the gorilla are very touching. And when they told her Robin had died she was visibly upset. -

So a brief trip turns into 9 months. How much food and water is stored on the Space Station? And inquiring minds want to know. How much waste can be stored and what do they do with it? Dump it in space? -
Lego’s new California home kit

Yes. State income tax, highest gas tax, highest property tax, highest sales tax and so on. -
I read that when he cast Gene Wilder as the blind hermit he was concerned Wilder had never done anything comedic. But the scenes with him and the monster are some of the best. When the monster runs out and Wilder says, 'stop I was going to make us Cappuccinos'. That was ad libbed. Brooks kept it as it was funny and it closed the hermits complete lack of knowing who he was hosting. Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein, the Producers, and High anxiety. All worth repeated viewing.
