I have a uberti 1873 rifle that keeps bending the bolt tab. I am wanting to have the tab replaced. Who did you have do it? Did you have to send the rifle? Did it take fitting when returned? And is there an overall problem with the timing of the rifle to bend the tab in the first place? How long did it take to get the bolt back? Thank You Bullett

I use a marlin model 39, if you are wanting to shoot fast that is not the best gun for the job. They are also fragile and difficult to find parts for. If you want to go fast the henry in the better choice. There is a new winchester on the market now and I dont know anything about that one. Bullett

I have had this marlin 39a for a number of years and it has developed a feeding problem. The gun will double and sometimes triple feed rounds that will jam up the bolt coming forward. I them remove the mag tube and remove the ammo place a small instrument under the round on top and the other one or two will role out. I took the gun apart and noticed the shell stop is below the level of the magazine opening not engaging the rim of the shells. I removed the shell stop and cleaned under and all around it. Reinstalled the shell stop and when I tried to push it down it would stay down and not spring back up. The bolt rides over the top of it allowing it to spring up and down but it will not come back up after being pushed down. Is there a fix for this? Thanks Bullett

I dont know if this helps, a number of years ago when we werent matching the cones to the caps as well I used a method that was kind of a pain to do but worked well. I used the stock cones and bought some fish tank air line that was flexible { like rubber} and made small rubber bands to go around each cap. The rubber bands were very thin to not hinder the hammer hitting the cap. Takes longer to load and you have some homework to do before the match. This was quite a few years ago when CCI made better caps they were just to loose. Bullett

If you have replaced the lever spring put a washer behind the spring and try it. It only takes a few minutes. If not then you have a problem with the interface of the locking lug. Bullett

I am loading 38 spl with hollow base to expand and engage the rifling. Bullett

I am not sure but there is no visible step in the cylinder. As for blackpowder, I just got the bullets and wanted to try them out. I only had time to load 15 rds. Bullett

I have a pietta 36 cal 1858 revolver, With cap n ball shoots very well. It will shoot about 1 1/2 inch group at 50 feet maybe better in someone else's hand. I bought a howell conversion cylinder in 38 spl. At 25 feet it shot about an 8 inch group and many hits were key holes. I obtained a sample of Bear Creek Supply 38 cal 358 dia. 150gr RNHB molly coated bullets , these were developed for the conversions. At 50 feet my group went to about 2 inches and no key holes. I fired about 10 rds so far with these results after that for fun I tried a cambell soup can and hit it with each round for 5 rds. I will shoot this more to determine if this continues. My normal CAS round is 38 spl with 105 or 125 gr bullets and 3 gr of bullseye. In order to spread the hollow base I used 4 gr of bullseye.

Had a 209 primer come out of a shotgun shell in my model 12 during a wild bunch match and got behind the bolt. Stopped me dead in the wather, called broken gun and finished the stage. My only two misses for the day. Used my 97 to finish the match, at home took the shotgun apart found the mashed up primer and removed it. Went back to working. Second loading on the AA hull, I had loaded a cheddite primer in a hull that had had a Rio primer. I knew the cheddites were larger than the us primers but didnt know the Rio was still larger. I have a .36cal Pietta 1851 cap n ball made in the 90s. I have a .45 cal kirst conversion loading gate and cylinder. Can the loading gate and cylinder be fit to the .36cal 1851 and a .44cal barrel be added and shoot .45 lc or .45 cowboy or others? Thank you Bullett

I use a very light load of clays powder in Rem or Win shot shells. When the weather is really cold I have had rounds that made a loud boom and a ball of fire out the mussel of the shotgun. A fellow shooter had the same in a 97 except the flames came out the ejection port and a small fire would be in the port and chamber of the shotgun. The 97 did not recoil the same and the wad would barely leave the mussel and you could watch the shot on its way to the target. When we shot the next match we upped the powder and the problem went away. Bullett

Shot a 3 gun match Sat using 9mm pistol. I shot about 80rds and no failure to fire or problems of any kind. Primers were Gendex
