Over the past several months I had been chatting with @Cholla about that bands. I wanted a rattlesnake hat band but it wouldn’t have worked out for what I wanted. I sent him a photo of the leather wraps I did on my long guns. He went above and beyond to make me a custom hat band exactly how I wanted it so it matched what I was looking for. Easiest way to fit 6 in the mag tube is to buy a spring for the Remington 870 Police Magnum. Might have to cut a couple coils off. No need for different follower and only about $10. I've used those on fixed and takedown, original and reproductions,

Just about a week in and I'm starting to get the hang of this. Target was at 10 yards.

I stopped shooting CAS when it became 10-10-2-2 for the number of stages, pack up and go home. Bare minimum costuming, trick-rigged guns, mouse fart loads, no fun matches any more, no scenarios, no fun. Even some of the people, mostly younger ones, were not fun to be around any more. I still have my cowboy guns and have picked up some new ones, but I have quite a few that I haven't even fired yet.

You have some options. 1) Go cheap - you’ll likely be “ok” but if the holster isn’t lined or formed you’ll have more trouble than it’s worth. Unlined holsters will pancake and you’ll eventually drop a gun (or danged close) 2) Learn a different draw. The double strong side guys have a variety of methods for shooting super fast. Study up a few videos and spend some time practicing and you’ll be on it in short order. 3) Order one. Really $200 isn’t that much for something that is going to last and will perform at as high a level as you will. It doesn’t matter if you spend $20 or $2000 none of it means a hill of beans if you don’t practice, at least a little.

First thing to check with over rotation on a Colt style action is the hand spring. The handspring in addtion to keeping the hand engaged in the ratchet teeth acts as a brake to the cylinder rotation speed.

Just got back home last night Thrsday May 7th. This trip was 9 days and I drove 3,339 miles and traveled through 8 states. Started with the Delaware State Championship which was state number 41 overall in my Cowboy Travels. Then went to Valley Forge National Historic Park in PA where General George Washington encamped the Continental Army from December 19, 1777 to June 19, 1778. Saw the introductory video, toured the visitor center and museum, then did the audio driving tour. Final stop before heading home was Lexington VA were I toured the Virginia Military Institute Museum and did a campus tour lead by a VMI Cadet. Then after lunch toured The Jackson House Museum home of "Stonewall" Jackson and his wife, he was an instructor at VMI prior to the Civil War. Last night and today I am catching up on things: paying bills, washing clothes, polishing brass, downloading photos, and next week will be loading more ammo. Did not get the backyard mowed before I left so that will also be on my list for next week, as well as starting to post photos and details of these last two trips. Have singed up to shoot the TSRA (Texas State Rifle Association) Cowboy Action State Championship to be held at Old Fort Parker near Groesbeck TX next weekend and then the following weekend the annual match Battle of Plum Creek near Lockhart TX. So I will be teaveling within the state some this month.

Feeling some better this morning. Still heavy chest congestion but it’s clearing up gradually. Gotta try to get better control over it ‘cause the grandson stays with us this weekend.

If someone already shoots IDPA or IPSC or some other modern shooting sport with a 9mm, picking up a pair of SAA clones and a rifle in 9mm wood be an easy choice. You get to use the same dies, same brass, same primers, maybe even the same coated lead bullets, and maybe even the same powder. That seems like a no brainer. Buy a few guns, a new wardrobe from Tractor Supply, and some gun leather and you're set. I imagine in some states you could get the guns, the wardrobe, and the leather from the same place and still have time to pick up donuts for the posse.

When we went to matches regularly here in southern Nevada, our limit was about 90 or slightly above that as the high (and most clubs here stop shooting in the summer). There was no low temp that limited us, as it didn't get seriously cold here and we had plenty of winter gear. It allowed us the chance to actually wear our chaps, vests and dusters or cowboy winter coats, along with dark hats. The real thing we disliked was wind and I mean wind; like 20-30 miles an hour with gusting even higher, especially in the Spring! That took all one's energy right out of them! We wouldn't go if we knew it was going to be windy.

Years ago, when the first OMV's came out in .44-40, the first one I bought had a bunch of bad chambers. I contacted Ruger, but they stalled a bit, so I had a gunsmith fit a .44 Mangle-em cylinder to the gun. The Ruger said to send it back and they replaced the .44-40 cylinder. The magnum cylinder still worked fine, so it gave me a convertible. When SASS went to two gun scenarios, I bought a second OMV with a .44 Magnum cylinder. I happened to find a .44-40 cylinder, and had my 'smith fit that, which gave me a pair of convertibles, one with a 7-1/2" and one with a 5-1/2" barrel, which became my main guns. Now, both .44-40 cylinders had the tight throats. Of course, everyone knows that is no good, and I should have the throats reamed out to .430. Well, I left them alone! With hard-cast .430" bullets, both guns will shoot 1-3/8" 5-round groups, shooting with my elbow resting on the bench! How can that be? Apparently, the bullets swage down going through the throats, but because the dwell time is so short, the compressive stresses built up in the metal doesn't disipate in the form of heat, so the bullets re-expand into the rifling. Loads consist of 8.0 gr. Universal, which gives 950 ft/sec from the 7-1/2" barrel. From a 22" barrel rifle (Rossi M92) the MV is about 1185 ft/sec. With Universal no longer available, you could substitute Unique.

I was shooting mostly crossdraw but not long ago I won a one-of-a-kind Mernickle double strongside rig and of course wanted to use it. So I started using the technique of drawing and shooting the left gun with the left hand, cocking the hammer with my right hand, and vice-versa for the right side. Now it is totally natural. I found out that some pards I shoot with have done it that way for years and I never noticed.

Multiple nationalities, at one time or another, have told me American Naval Aviators are THE BEST IN THE WORLD!!! It's a feat well beyond my own poor skills to set a bird down on a long postage stamp of a deck in the middle of that biiiiig ocean ... but to land a bird THAT size, no tail hook, with only fifteen feet between wingtip and island? Ummm ... no thank you, sir ... I'll respectfully let someone younger and more talented than me to make that landing!

Sure Ruger has a say. A corporations bylaws can limit the maximum percentage of stock that any one entity can buy. It's pretty common and sounds like the case here. As a defense, a corporation can issue more shares to existing shareholders, thereby diluting the percentage the "hostile" owns.

Thank you again, and more good news out of this - we finally got a copy of the actual will, and my wife remembered it wrong, the houses do NOT have to be sold, so time is on my side depending on what the other two siblings want to do. I do remember the good times, especially when I had Mom over for Mississippi Pot Roast, (she loved it), or when we would surprise her with a trip to one of our favorite restaurants up in The Valley. A very gracious lady, retired teacher, and the last of her kind. Edit to add, I love the idea of the SASS storefront, "City Jail" or the like, and the white painted floor I had never once considered, but that IS a great idea.
