About 10 years ago I had a pair of stainless Old Armies that Captain Lewis Aka: Steve Anderson engraved with Texas Brands. Well when I got them back and shot them at a match I decided that they were too pretty to shoot so I stuck them in the safe until I found a buyer about 3 years ago. I do like guns with brands on them and my shooting pard Gunrunner Pete let me know a couple of weeks ago about some grips for my old armies that I might like, boy do I!!! These grip panels were made by Altamont a few years ago and are hard to find, I’m told. I met up with Pete this afternoon and picked them up and installed them when I got home. The first picture is of the Old Armies with the existing grip panels and then the new grip panels.11 points

I shot my first long gong match today. An 8", 6", and 4" target at 300 yards. Shooting off a bipod and rear bag from a bench. https://www.creedmoorsports.com/long-gong-competition I scored 38 points and came in mid pack in my group of shooters. I don't know the scores from the other group. I look forward to shooting this match again next month.8 points

TV show. The murder victim had been killed by being shoved into a wood chipper. The cops have a suspect. While questioning he says, "At least I've got brains enough not to try to shove a whole body into a wood chipper!" The cop looks at him in confusion, and he clarifies. "Everyone knows. Saw first, then mulch."5 points

A simple AI analysis of Venezuela's Standard of Living changes since the turn of the century. This is called "History": Major Political & Economic Events Affecting Living Standards in Venezuela 1999–2003 Chávez presidency begins → Introduction of currency and price controls. These policies temporarily masked underlying problems but increasingly distorted markets and incentives. 2007–2008 Oil revenue peak → Living standards briefly crest, driven largely by high oil prices and heavy state spending, increasing dependence on oil income. 2013 Death of Chávez / Maduro assumes power → Loss of political legitimacy and deterioration in economic management and institutional capacity. 2014–2015 Global oil price collapse → Severe revenue shock strikes an economy already weakened by controls and reduced productive capacity. 2016 Widespread food and medicine shortages → Breakdown of supply chains and purchasing power becomes visible to the population. 2017 Hyperinflation begins → Rapid collapse in real wages and savings, accelerating poverty. 2018–2019 Mass emigration crisis → Millions leave the country, reflecting a sharp decline in living conditions and economic opportunity. 2020 Renewal of international sanctions & political standoff Sanctions by the EU and other bodies were extended in response to Venezuela’s ongoing political polarization and human-rights concerns, reinforcing economic pressure. Consilium 2021 Opposition talks with the government continue The U.S. offered to begin lifting sanctions if the government and opposition formed an interim government without Maduro—a proposal that didn’t resolve political stasis. Reuters 2022 Opposition leader Maria Corina Machado barred from office Maduro’s government banned a leading opposition figure from holding public office for 15 years, drawing international condemnation and undermining political pluralism. Reuters Barbados Agreement & partial sanctions relief A deal with the U.S. eased some sanctions on oil and bonds to help improve economic conditions, though many political barriers remained. Reuters 2023–2024 Controversial 2024 Presidential Election Nicolás Maduro was elected to a contested third term amid widespread reports of fraud and exclusion of opposition figures—intensifying political polarization and challenging legitimacy. Global Centre for R2P Nationwide Blackouts Venezuela suffered widespread power outages in 2024 due to infrastructure failures, reflecting ongoing economic and utilities deterioration. Wikipedia 2025 Maduro sworn in amid protests and international rebuke On January 10, 2025, Maduro began his third term in an election widely seen as lacking transparency, sparking protests and sanctions from abroad. AP News Economic strain deepens Venezuela raised taxes on the private sector as oil revenues fell due to sanctions and the exit of foreign oil firms, worsening economic hardship and inflation. Just to add - I made 28 of 50 shots. 18 hits on the 8" target. 10 hits on the 6" target. I made no attempts on the 4" target.😁4 points

It is absolutely NOT Longshot, which is a flattened ball powder and very shiny gray. And Longshot has no color dots. Another idiotic AI result. This is a flake powder......the yellow donuts remind me of 700-X. But, as I don't have 700-X on hand any more to do a precise comparison, it's fertilizer. As such, it will probably grow beautiful grass 700 times faster. 😄 GJ4 points

Wife with Sammi and Alexis. Sammi was a rescue who had been used a breeding dog in Utah, according to the rescue people, and came in to the shelter pregnant. When they spayed her, her uterus fell apart from non stop breeding. She was listless, and had given up hope, nobody wanted a dog who was too small to be a watch dog, too big for a lap dog, with a deformed right front paw. When she realized that she had her own bed, her own toys, a forever home and all the love she could handle, she became the happiest dog in history.4 points

First, Maduro was indicted in the US in 2020 for narco-terrorism and it's been reported that he was arrested, by US law enforcement, not the militar who provided transport. Second, it generally considered that Maduro did not win the 2024 (and perhaps prior) elections fairly. Maduro's VP has apparently left the country and gone to Russia. Thirdly, why are so many people allowing their hatred of Trump to prevent them from seeing that removing a dictator, who was working with drug cartels and countries unfriendly to the US and making the lives of the average Venezuelan worse, was a good thing to do? On edit: Jonathan Turley: Why capture of Maduro didn't require approval from Congress: https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/jonathan-turley-why-capture-of-maduro-didnt-require-approval-from-congress/ar-AA1TvakM4 points

I saw a comment on another forum, "Maduro said he would meet President Trump any time, any place...so we sent an Uber." On a more serious note, President Barack Obama did not seek or receive a specific, new congressional authorization for the operation that killed Osama bin Laden. Instead, his administration relied on the existing... Authorization for Use of Military Force (AUMF) passed by Congress in 2001. Legal Basis for the Operation The legal justification for Operation Neptune Spear was based on several factors: 2001 AUMF: This authorization, passed after the 9-11 attacks, allowed the president to use force against those involved in or supporting the attacks, a category that included Osama bin Laden. International Law: The administration viewed the action as a lawful act of self-defense within an ongoing conflict with al-Qaeda, citing Article 51 of the UN Charter and arguing that bin Laden remained a threat and a legitimate military target. Executive Authority: The President's constitutional role as Commander-in-Chief was also cited as providing inherent authority for the use of force in defense of the nation, distinguishing the operation from a prohibited assassination. The operation proceeded without Pakistan's advance knowledge, with the U.S. asserting the right to act in self-defense if a nation is "unwilling or unable" to address a terrorist threat within its borders.4 points

I'll admit that when she was introduced I thought, "Lord, help us!" and was ready to hit the Mute button. But, butter my butt and call me a biscuit! This was quite lovely! A few personal flourishes, but all in all, well done.3 points

This!! Want to track something meaningful, take your timer to the range in practice. Time your first shot on each pistol. First shot from your rifle. First shot from shotgun. Shot gun reload. Transition from pistol to pistol. Transition from pistol to rifle. Rifle to pistols. These are constant every stage, every match. You start pecking at those things, you’ll get better.3 points

You know, it's funny. otto absolutely would not let me use a fine old American English word like HOOSEGOW. No matter how many times I wrote it, he would change it to "whose cow" (I've discovered that if I type the word in all caps he will generally leave it alone - not always, but generally). But he had no problem at all with a Spanish word like calaboso. Reckon he spent some time in jail South of the border?3 points

A couple things about the Model 12. First, the newest is at least 60 years old and the oldest, over a 110. So like George Madis, the well known Winchester historian, wrote in his book in the Model 12, things could have been changed. Of the dozens of Model 12s I’ve worked on, I’ve taken out carriers with guides for who didn’t want them and put them in for those who did. When the gun is right, you don’t need to tilt it. I do know the gun that won EOT and Land Run overall in 2025 does not have a guide. They don’t tilt it it or run it slow. Nor has it had the chamber mouth ground on. The below is out of the Madis book “The Winchester Model Twelve”.3 points

It’ll be referred back to the 9th circuit court for en banc hearing before the ink gets dry!! In over a hundred years, the 9th has only upheld ONE decision of a positive nature to the Second Amendment rendered by a three judge panel and then only because the state failed to file their motion in a timely manner! This will likely get the same treatment!3 points

It’s kind of wild to think it’s been over a year since I made my first post here when I was brand new to cowboy action shooting. I figured I’d post an update and share where things are headed for 2026. This season I’ll be switching to Frontier Cartridge while still shooting Duelist. I feel like I made pretty good progress during 2025, especially considering I missed about half the season due to illness. When I was able to get out and shoot, things started coming together more than I expected, and that gave me a lot of motivation to keep pushing forward. For 2026 the plan is simple. Shoot more matches. I’m hoping to attend as many as I can, including Indiana State and Tennessee State, and maybe a few others if the schedule allows. Most of my gear will stay the same. I still love my Marion River Woodcraft cart, but when my wife shoots with me it tends to get overloaded pretty quickly. Because of that, I’m planning to add a Rugged Gear cart for next season so we have something that fits our needs a little better when we’re both on the line. The Marion River cart isn’t going anywhere, it’s just time to spread things out. I’m also planning to add another rifle and a shotgun, both to set my wife up better and to have reliable backups. My pistols were trouble free all through 2025. The only issue I had with the rifle was a broken firing pin, and the shotgun has had a few gremlins that are in the process of getting worked out. As far as lessons learned in 2025, the biggest one is that match time matters. Practice helps, but matches teach faster. Reliability matters more than chasing speed, especially early on. Asking questions goes a long way, and this community has been a huge help. Most of all, I learned to relax and enjoy the process. What I’m hoping to get out of 2026 is cleaner, more consistent stages, more time on the range, and more chances to travel and meet people along the way. I also want to help my wife enjoy the sport as much as I do. Looking forward to another year of learning, shooting, and having a good time on the firing line.3 points

Hello all, Happy New Year to everyone! Yes there will be more electrical at Paradise Pass before the event. Yes you can go to both regionals if you are in the split states. But you can only be the regional champion in one. Yes this was all thought out and discussed in depth prior to launch. Yes this is a similar system as the old map showed above. Yes these new lines were based on changing shifts in SASS memberships by states. Yes SASS is still growing, but in different areas of the country. Have a great holiday weekend and a great start to 2026.3 points
