I know this is not a buy or sell ad, but rather a BIG THANK YOU to the wire and it's denizens. Over the year, I have bought many items from reliable and honest pards, as well as sold many items to folks that, I hope, feel they got a good deal from me. For these Blessings, I thank you all! This is a great, tight knit group, and I feel confident dealing with and talking to you all. Bless you and yours, and I hope to be with everyone in the coming year. I thank the moderators for keeping the wire clean and honest. Your Pard Al Overa SASS#2623812 points

In an attempt to increase Wild Bunch participation, we planned to change our shooting schedule for 2026. It was our belief that shooting Cowboy first and Wild Bunch second would cause more of the Cowboy shooters, who have not shot Wild Bunch in the past, to try Wild Bunch. It appears that our intentions were misinterpreted by some, so we decided to send a brief questionnaire to our shooters, to poll what they (you) preferred. The results indicate that the majority want to keep the schedule as it was in 2025. Therefore, Wild Bunch will again be shot before the Cowboy match, with the same schedule as this year. We are pleased with the number of positive responses about considering shooting Wild Bunch in 2026. In 2025 our Wild Bunch attendance was 25% higher than it has ever been and we sincerely hope to see even larger growth in 2026. The new schedule is attached for your convenience. Registration for 2026 SASS National Championships open February 1st at Noon CST. Thank you, Flat Top Okie schedule of events for print.pdf7 points

I have, over the last year, made a concerted effort to drop some weight. Driven some for health reasons (type II Diabetes), some for vanity (Painted Ladies Aunt is a Hollywood producer, her Cousin an executive at HBO - I have shamelessly begged them for some sort of small opportunity if I lost the weight) and some for the fact that I turn 60 next year (if I were ever to make a serious run at some prestigious championships - my first year as a Senior Gunfighter would likely be my best opportunity). Now I lost some significant weight a few years ago; but Covid, knee injury and breaking my wrists all gave me excuse to lose focus and ballon back up. So I started again... From a high of 360 pounds - I stepped on the scale today at my Drs. office in shoes, fully dressed at 229 pounds. No surgeries, no weight loss drugs; simple reduced intake and more exercise. I still have a ways to go - but it was nearly 40 years ago, during my college days of football and wrestling that I last saw sub 230. I know pride is a sin - but dang it, this feels good.5 points

I was missing an important document one time and while picking up my dog's doo, I noticed some paper in it and wondered if he had eaten the document. I had to go in and get my glasses because I can't read **** without my glasses on.4 points

If the perp is wanting your $10, give it to em, especially if they are holding a gun or knife at your throat. If they are abusing a child (sexual, beating with fist, slapping them around), then poke their eyeballs out and leave. The perp will never be able to identify you anyhow. ..........Widder3 points

Mostly like other people: Who started it Was it legitimate self defense Was there a significant disparity of force (multiple attackers, large age difference) Was unnecessary force used Did he stop when there was no longer a threat Why did the idiot attack a MMA, boxed, etc If our self defense expert is attacked by someone trying to punch him, it's generally going to be ok to block the punch and maybe hit him once. It's not going to be ok if the expert breaks the attacker's arm, three ribs and fractures the skull. Of course if the attacker is in their 70's and in a wheelchair, the expert is likely to be in trouble of the attacker gets injured. (your state laws and politics may vary).3 points

And it takes a few days to get them into action and the fleet will likely be gone by then, having stirred the pot already. I'm not suggesting an attack, just a showing to get someone's attention long enough to put other steps into action....like throwing the UN off our shores with a 60 day time limit to get out. Consider cutting off support of any kind to anyone who can be shown to be an enemy of the USA. Modifying the rules of diplomatic immunity which allow everyone coming into the country the "right" to spy, break our laws and spit in our faces when they choose. In other words, we need to stop being everyone's nice uncle.3 points

Sold This is a very nice, quality built side lock SxS. It was made by Tobin Arms in Norwich, Conn. between 1905 and 1909 when the company moved to Ontario, Canada. Tobin Arms built quality field and trap guns that were on par with LC Smith and Parker, for certain grades. This example is in very good plus condition. The checkering on its English wrist and splinter forearm is sharp. Stock has minor handling marks. A ventilated recoil pad gives it a LOP of 13.5/14.25". The 30" barrels are stamped "Trojan Nitro Steel" and are choked IM. Bores are bright and shiny with scattered light pitting or flaws from manufacturing. Chambers are 2.5". Finish shows some wear, but no rust or pitting. Very tight action. Points like a dream. Ships to your FFL or C&R. $500 + Shipping.2 points

Hasn't been much improvement over the 1920 version. Other than more ergonomic handles and crank, the one in the drawer in the kitchen is pretty much the same.2 points

Digging through some old papers and found this. It was from the first Florida State Champioonship we ever attended. Made all the rest since except for the two years in Tallahassee, the schedule just didn't work for us. The 2026 match will make the 18th Florida State Championship we have attended! That's more than the number of Maryland State Championships we shot. (Mostly because I was too busy running the dang thing! )2 points

I haven't personally seen it either. But news stories about fights/shootouts in the WH parking lot aren't that unusual. But around here WH can't hold a candle to Wal-Mart on that front. Especially if you add in bomb threats.2 points
