  1. Be able to "move" and shoot. Phantom PS: Using the phrase "Plant and Poke" earns an immediate MDQ.

  2. Reeeeeally simple - you can't hear hits very well and reactive targets don't go down... Phantom

  3. I would cut the number of categories in half. Why? Because we give out participation awards. I would eliminate the ‘suggested’ target distances. I would toughen the footwear requirements because too many people are wearing butt ugly quasi sneakers that definitely didn’t exist in the old west and were never worn in westerns. Anyone who stated ‘they’re just there to have fun’ when discussing competitive shooters would earn a P (j/k, sort of). Why? Because it irks me when non competitive shooters say that. I would remove the statement in the shooters handbook that incorrectly says that the 170 is always in effect. Why? Because it’s not correct. I would penalize shooters who aggressively question misses with a SOG. Why? Because certain individuals use aggressive behavior to intimidate spotters regularly. Anyone openly questioning a miss, ie stating the call was wrong, would get a P. Why? Because it’s poor sportsmanship.

  4. In case you have not heard Hodgdon has renamed Titegroup. It is now High Gun. Here is a post I copied from a shotshell reloading site. "I just received this from Hodgdon..............Hello Danny, The High Gun powder is Titegroup with a shotshell name, we felt it was often overlooked for shotshell use even though it is excellent for that. Perfect pattern is however a new powder of its own.Thank youLuke OtteCustomer Service ManagerHodgdon Powder Co.6430 vista dr.Shawnee, Ks 66218"

  5. Classic Cowboy should be shot with black powder.

  6. I would add the NCOWS category of Working Cowboy. All that is required is one pistol and one rifle.

  7. It’s hard enough to hear .36 cap and ball hit the steel. I hate to spot for a .22 shooter.

  8. I would probably consider eliminating the penalty for an EMPTY on the carrier (but not in the chamber). To me, if the lever is OPEN, that empty on a carrier is no greater a safety issue than empties in the revolver. BUT..... the lever MUST be open if there is an empty in the rifle. If the lever is closed, it better be empty, period. This is because if the lever is closed, its closed with a cocked hammer....... which aint good. ..........Widder

  9. Had a girlfriend with a Siamese cat that loved to be spinned like that! It was laying on the floor once and I put my fingers under its' chin and started spinning it. After that, it would come up to me and lay down so I could spin it.

  10. Open a new official Steampunk costume division based on Wild Wild West. SOG penalty against any member who discourages any weirdo who shows up to compete in this new Steampunk division. Yes, they will be weirdos. But they will be young and this sport will not survive without new blood. All other rules remain the same except for Steampunk costuming allowance (gears hot-glued to guns, whatever... Let the new blood decide the costuming details). OK, I did not last even one minute, did I?

  11. Do away with “MSV” either it’s safe or it’s not. the violations that are now MSVs should be procedurals.

  13. Yeah, not only are you NOT going to get breakfast...you're NOT going to be getting anything else for a while either.

  14. Only ONE change!!! Eliminate the stupid rule of a stage DQ if you have a hammer back on your rifle "AND YOU LET GO OF IT!"....How much safer can a rifle be than on a table with no one touching it! All state matches should have one "Reference" stage set up identical at each state shoot. A good way to see your progress. Empty on the carrier of a rifle...No Call Fired shells left in an open SxS or the ejection port of a 87-97... No Call WAY too many categories.....But don't ask me what ones to get rid of!

  16. Pretty horrific. We have had no ticks or pests of any kind on the Boys since we have been giving them the systemic stuff, to them, a tasty treat. I haven't had to do my notorious Tick Dance for many years.

  18. Shooter should be able to get more than one Procedural on a stage. If shooter shoots revolvers out of order and rifle out of order, and specific shotgun order then 3 Procedurals. Would eliminate a lot of arguing about SOG's.

  19. Marketing, marketing, marketing We have many talented folks that work hard getting out the message to try SASS, Santee for one. But I still walk around Tombstone and get asked about my wardrobe and what SASS is all about. Once we get more exposure and hopefully more interest in the form of new members and sponsors, I would like to re-examine our fee structure to see if it could be modified. We all know this is an expensive form of sport/entertainment. Perhaps member/vendor fees, at that point, could be re-evaluated.

  22. Actually I would slim down the categories, there's just too darn many! Blackpowder, Duelist, Senior, (starting at 60) Gunfighter, Classic Cowboy. and Cowboy (two handed) Add those in Ladies and Junior as well.
