  1. So about a week ago I made a post about some possibly mixed up Clays powder. I had purchased the powder about a year ago from a cowboy who was getting out of the game. I also purchased his guns, gun cart, dillon loader, mec loaders, and a bunch of powder, bullets, primers, etc. I spent several hours at his house going through and loading up all the stuff. We visited a lot and he revealed to me that he had cancer and didn't think he had very much time left. After that meeting I called him once every few months just to visit and see how he was doing. The last time I had spoke to him was last may. I get very busy over the summer from end of may to first part of september so I hadn't called him. When the powder situation happened I tried to call him and phone just went to voicemail and I left a message. I was afraid something had happened so I searched the internet for an obituary in the town where he lived. Didn't find an obit but did find an estate sale with his address that took place in July. I asked on the mixed powder thread and someone said they thought he had passed. I was really saddened by this news. He was a great guy. Well, yesterday my phone rang and the caller id popped up his name. I answered the call, expecting it to be someone telling me he had passed, but my heart jumped up in my throat when I heard his voice! Apparently he became really sick just after we talked in May and was in the hospital for over a month. He slowly recovered and is now feeling much better. He has moved and has no cell reception at his new place and has to wait until he goes to town to return calls. We talked for over an hour. So to anyone who read the other thread, Smokin' D is alive and well!!! Oh, and I got the straight scoop on the powder and it is not mixed!

  3. I uploaded a couple of vids of the Hole in the Bucket stage at Bordertown for Plainsman this year. Howlin Mad Murdock was the Match designer for plainsman this year and he decided to bring back an oldie but goodie that used to be a main match type of stage way back when. Enjoy.

  4. Hard pass. Fine with the targets and movement, but wet hands = slippery grips and dropped loaded firearms.

  5. I just assumed ya'all can tell the difference between a '92 and a '73. If you're confused, in the photos, the '92 has a tang sight, the '73 doesn't.

  6. I keep reading this post, hoping the next time I read it I’ll see that the knife has been returned, sadly it still hasn’t happened. I hope that this was all an accident and it’s still in an unopened box at the range. If the knife was taken by someone it’s disappointing to think that anyone in this sport would think that it’s ok, we all know this. But what really bugs me is that with all the folks that have gotten the word out and it still hasn’t been returned, and especially knowing who’s it was. Everyone that knows Scarlett knows that she goes out of her way to make pards feel welcome and takes time to talk to anyone who wants a minute of her time, she deserves better than to be treated like this.

  7. Mckenzie Gilles is Amber's closest friend. No scams are going on (jeez). Please, please no posts about aed's or range equipment or other discussion! A young father, Husband, Son, Cowboy Action Shooter, RC airplane competitor and one Helluva friend is gone. Pic of Cole, Amber and Woody taken Friday afternoon in camp at Border Town 2021.

  9. I’m not going to let fear of a lawsuit stop me from giving a second chance. The device is simple. Turn on button, two peel and stick pads with a picture of where to stick the pads. The AED does everything else. It analyzes, and shocks automatically if needed, if no shock it gives voice instructions to begin CPR. You see them everywhere now. I can’t imagine a range not wanting one.

  10. Just got my monthly copy of the T.S.R.A. (Texas State Rifle Association) magazine today. What got my attention was: Governor Greg Abbott signed a concurrent resolution declaring the Colt Walker revolver the "Official Handgun of the State of Texas". I did not see that one coming, but....wow!!! Anyway...that was news to me. Glad I bought a clone of one, a while back. W.K.

  12. Bought one at the Camp Buckner exchange in 1968 for $145.00. It came with a two mags and a gun rug. I picked up four more mags and shoulder holster and it went to 'Nam with me in August of that same year.

  14. After having dug to a depth of 10 feet last year, British scientists found traces of copper wire. This wire was found to be dating back 200 years and came to the conclusion that their ancestors already had a telephone network more than 150 years ago. Not to be outdone by the British, in the weeks that followed, an American archaeologist dug to a depth of 20 feet, and shortly after, a story published in the New York Times: "American archaeologists, finding traces of 250-year-old copper wire, have concluded that their ancestors already had an advanced high-tech communications network 50 years earlier than the British". One week later, Australia's Northern Territory Times, reported the following: "After digging as deep as 30 feet in his backyard in Tennant Creek, Northern Territory, aboriginal Billi Bunji, a self-taught archaeologist, reported that he found absolutely stuff-all. Billi has therefore concluded that 250 years ago, Australia had already gone wireless..."

  18. So, I didn't know about the knife going missing until before the banquet because I wasn't at the range for the announcement as I drove back and forth every day. I had heard someone was run off from the range that was not a shooter that was also run off 2 or 3 years ago. There are houses, so I guess anything is possible. I'm sad it happened. I know at TN state we have had people take an item from the lost and found because they thought they knew who it belonged to and intended to give the item to them. It's possible that's the case, or like others have said maybe a little one picked up the Shiney object. My guess would be nobody would step forward with it now even because of an "accidental" taking. Maybe they would still mail it in anonymously. I hate that this has somewhat cast a shadow on the SE Regional championship. It really was a fantastic match. You can tell it was put on with a lot of hard work and forethought.

  19. "Boy Scouts participating for their "master at arms" badge during the early part of the 20th century. Scouts were expected to be proficient in single stick, wrestling, boxing, or quarterstaff to earn this badge. Its a shame that this isn't around anymore." 1908 Badge:

  21. I wouldn't have watched this movie if this didn't happen despite the fact that it's a western. That's how much I can't stand Baldwin! I hope his career is over and we never see his face again!

  23. Boy, does this bring back memories.... The scenario brings to mind a conversation I had with the Judge back in the 'nineties, when he told me of his early goal of breaking away from IPSC type shooting in favor of a shooting sport that stressed "fun." The "good ol' days..."
