  1. Well, this reminds me of a story. Upon arriving home yesterday evening, I was met at the door by my wife, sobbing her eyes out. Tearfully she explained, "It's the druggist. He insulted me terribly this morning on the phone." Immediately, being the caring husband I am, I got into my pickem-up truck and drove downtown to confront the druggist and demand an apology (or I was gonna open up a whole can of whoop-ass on him). Before I could say more than a few words, the druggist told me, "Now, just a minute, please listen to my side of it... This morning the alarm failed to

  2. My Mother and Father had an incident about 40 years ago. "Lady" barged in front of my Mother and Dad in a line-up waiting their turn at the cash. "Lady" pushes her way in front of them with the words, " I'm in a hurry!" My Father, a usually patient and courteous man, in his 70's says "Yes, but so are we" to which "Lady" tells him to "F.O. Old Man!" Now, my Mother was about 5'2", 1/8 Algonquin and 7/8 Fightin' Irish. Mother reached up and back-handed the "Lady" and knocked her on the butt.

  6. IMNSHO, metal roofing is fantastic. My cottage sees wind and driven rain directly off of the ocean. Asphault shingles flip up, break off and allow water to penetrate. I've been dry since we shifted to standing seam Galvalume metal roofing, with the added benefits of quick cleaning with the hose and snow that slides right off. No experience with your particular form of metal roof, but can't see where there would be any significant difference. Lifetime guarantee is great, too. LL

  15. Where to begin? I was born in Pittsburgh, my Dad was Korean War veteran and Westinghouse technician, Mom was a nurse. I've worked since I was 11 years old delivering the Pittsburgh Press. In my teens I worked at McDonalds and, put roof's on with my dad. We went to church every Sunday. We were not rich, but we were not poor. I was lucky to get C's in high school, I stared out the window waiting for the bell to ring. Looking back I wish I had paid more attention. In my senior year I joined the Army Reserve as an E-1. I went to basic training 6 days after I graduated high school, I turned 18 at F

  20. The Texas electricity bill the news is sensationalizing were not price gouging. Because of the way electricity is structured in Texas most house holds can pick their provider. Each provider has their own pricing scheme. I'll focus on Griddy as that is one of the ones currently in the news. Their pricing was based on the wholesale spot price. The spot price varies from hour to hour with the price being higher when the demand is higher. Normally the spot price varies predictably with it costing more during the summer and peak demand hours. With demand far outstripping supply the spot

  23. We never really buy each other guns. What normally happens is that we'll be in a gun shop, gun show, at a match, or looking on the internet one of us will see a gun they want. At that point the conversation goes like this: One: "If you want it get it." The Other: "It's a lot of money and we have x, y or z expenses coming up" One: "You have a ( insert -birthday, anniversary, or Christmas etc.) coming up we'll just figure that's your present." The Other: "I don't know..." One: "Get it! You know you want." At that point it's ka-ching and the money's ou

  25. My wife and I own an old house (circa 1890’s) that was moved to a new foundation around 1918 to get it out of a flood plain of the Colorado river. Photos of the move are in the Museum of Western Colorado archives. The move was accomplished using wagons and horses similar to your image. The current state of the house means it is uninhabitable but the basic structure and the interior of plaster and lathe is still there. Regards Gateway Kid

  26. John don't need no stinkin' bots. But I have a theory as to how he does it. He has one of those "Drinking Bird" toys. Instead of a cup of water for it to dip its beak into, he has a thimble of water sitting on the F5 key on his keyboard. Every time it dips its beak into the thimble it hits it hard enough to refresh his browser. Am I close, John? Maybe I should have kept quiet. Now everyone is going to be hoarding the Drinking Birds.
