  1. Our good buddy Noz and his lovely wife Lorrie stopped by our house this afternoon on their way back home. Great news - Noz convinced his therapists that he is now safe to resume driving a car! He had to demonstrate that he could drive all over Springfield with one of his therapists as a passenger in a dual control car, and upon completion was certified to continue driving. So last year's head bump appears to be officially resolved, and congratulations are in order!! His knee has been giving him some problems, so returning to the firing line is still a while off, until he can be sure of his stability. But he's working on it. I figured his Wire pards would like to know.

  5. On ignition, the charge expands and pushs the prime out against the recoil shield. The force of moving the bullet from the case causes the case to hit the recoil shield forcing the primer back in to the pocket before the bullets actuallymoves forward. Loads that are too light do not have the recoil foce to reset the primer even though the bullet has gone. If the pocket is worn and the primer is not tight in the pocket, any recoil from ingition will reset the primer. If your primers are backing out and locking up your revolver, chances are I would look at the load. Not enough powder, light bullets, poor crimping not holding the bullet long enough to build up pressure. ========== To start with yuor loads, try adjusting the crimp stage to get a little more crimp. It does not take much so, cases should not be bulging at all to get more crimp. If that does not cure the problem, try upping your powder charge. Again not much. ========== If your still have an issue, time to try a heavier bullet. Go up to the next weigh avalible. Most of all, do not try doing all of these things at the same time. If one does not work, back up and try the next.

  7. >Biscuits are now as common an inexpensive staple bread in southern diets as bagels or kaiser rolls are in New York, but for generations of rural, working-class southerners, they were a luxurious treat. “When my grandmother in western North Carolina said bread, she meant cornbread,” Phillips told me. “The biscuits were a special thing. We’d have them on Sundays.” < Back around '65 or 6 we was going to Atlanta to see Grandma. Stopped off in Cuthbert to spend a little bit of time with two of Daddy's aunts. Got there about 9 in the morning and they had not cleaned off the breakfast table. They offered to feed us, and one of them took the plate of biscuits off the table and went and got a loaf of light bread. Biscuits was "ever day". Store bought bread was special - for comp'ny. Daddy told 'em that we boys would appreciate it better if they left the biscuits on the table, 'cause Mama couldn't make biscuits, so we didn't get them at home.

  8. Something that has been known for decades. Evcn AP flour varies in mix of hard and soft flour by region, with, as the article suggests, the farther north and west you get the higher the percentage of hard wheat in the AP flour blend. A few tricks to remember: Grate the butter on a box grater and mix it into the dry ingredients with a fork with a toss and stir method. Handle as little as possible. Mix until it just barely holds together. Don't overmix as that develops the gluten. Adding in either more flour or more liquid after you have started mixing will usually result in overmixed, and therefor tough, biscuits. Pat and fold, don't knead and roll. Once you have dumped it out of the bowl onto a lightly floured counter pat it into a rectangle. Fold in thirds, pat out the other direction, and fold into thirds again Do that one more time, patting it out to about 3/4 of an inch thick. I like to cut it into squares with a long knife rather than with round cutters. Cutting out rounds means then combining the scraps, patting them out, cutting more, combining and patting out the scraps. They get tougher and tougher as you rework the scaps. Bake in a 425 to 450 oven 15 to 18 minutes.

  11. 02/14/2020 pm. "I got to see my angel today. I entered her room with a bouquet of yellow roses. She gave me a big smile, took the roses from me, looked at them and smiled again. She took her Valentines card from me and read it. She then gave me a big hug and a kiss. I wished her Happy Valentines Day and then she responded by telling me Happy Valentines Day. I was totally blown away. What a great V day! The physical therapist told us that she walked today, 5 strides with each leg. Every week we see more improvement. Her sister brought her a very cute shirt and on the front it says "Freddy's Angel". I could not agree more. Michele started to get tired, so I asked her if she wanted to go to the bed or recliner. She thought and pointed to the bed. I helped her to bed and she fell fast asleep. All of the staff at the rehab says she is a miracle in the making. Thank you prayer warriors. Good night and God bless."

  13. So in an effort to have consistency you want to add another layer to the "Correct Target Type" to differentiate between rifle knockdowns and stationary rifle targets.....doesn't it stand to reason that doing so would create more confusion? It's pretty straight forward as it is......a target this is supposed to be hit with the rifle is a rifle target regardless if it is a stationary or reactive target. Just because some folks tried to make it more complicated than it was doesn't mean we need to revamp the rules. Stan

  15. Stealing signs by a player on the field is, and always has been legal! THAT is part of the game!! Electronically or technologically stealing signs by non players, (persons not on the team and or not on the field or in the dugout) is TOTALLY against the rules and contrary to the spirit and the traditions of the game!!

  17. I make great biscuit. So easy! I also use a can of Pillsbury biscuit fixin's to make a great Chicken and Dumplings. Be sure and get the Buttermilk Grands! Chicken and Dumplings Ingredients 1 to 2 cartons (32 oz) chicken broth (4 to 8 cups) 3 to 4 cups shredded cooked chicken (about 1 1/2 lb) 1 can (10 3/4 oz) condensed cream of chicken soup 1/4 teaspoon poultry seasoning 1 can (16.3 oz) Pillsbury™ Grands!™ Southern Homestyle refrigerated Buttermilk biscuits (8 biscuits) 1 cup of flour 1 cup of baby carrots, chopped 3 celery ribs, chopped Steps 1. In 4- to 5-quart Dutch oven, heat broth, chicken, soup and poultry seasoning to boiling over medium-high heat; reduce heat to low. Cover; simmer 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Increase heat to medium-high; return to a low boil. 2. On floured surface, roll or pat each biscuit to 1/8-inch thickness; cut into 1/2-inch-wide strips. 3. Drop strips, one at a time, into boiling chicken mixture. Add carrots and celery. 4. Reduce heat to low. Cover; simmer 15 to 20 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent dumplings from sticking. Notes: - This simple recipe is so good. - Some of the ingredients are within a range, depending on how much chicken you want or how thick you want the broth. - I like a lot of flour around my dumplings to keep them from sticking together, but the additional flour also thickens the broth. - Careful. This is lip smacking good!!!

  18. Egg story, Mary and I spent most of a week in an Embassy Suites hotel between Dallas and Fort Worth some 30+ years ago. (How time flies) Included was a hot breakfast. In the lobby they had cafeteria style serving bar set up with a chef running it. He had tubs full of the expected scrambled eggs, fried taters, fried pork parts and so on. He'd as people in line what they wanted and filled their plate accordingly. Everyone ahead of me made choices from the prepaid foods. He came to me and ask, I said, "Can you make a Denver Omelet?". He said yes like he would be delighted and started basic preparation on the girdle. Meanwhile, those ahead of me looked at their plates like they made the wrong choice. The next two people behind me ordered Denver Omelet.

  20. Wwwwwweeeeeeelllllllllllll That's more of a question for the fashion industry. I have seen women's clothes go both ways, depending on the look they are trying to convey. Most of the slacks I bought for work zip on the right side. I do have a couple pair that zip on the left, because they are styled as a take off on men's wear. I also have a couple that zip on the side or back for a sleeker look. (Pain in the tail if you ask me.) So, to answer your question, yes for the most part, they are the opposite of men's but not ALL the time. This is the fashion industry after all and there are no hard and fast rules. Edit, I did some research and found out the reason for the women's buttoning on the opposite side was because they had dressing attendants. In the days of old, men dressed themselves and were mostly right handed, hence the closures arranged to be used by the dominant hand. Women of wealth had an attendant helping them dress, hence the closures had to be on the attendants dominant side.

  24. You’re not saying it verbatim. It Does not ask if all the targets were hit. It asks if all the correct type of targets were hit. That allows for the correct type of target to be hit in the wrong order and not be counted as a miss. Until you accept that you will continue to struggle with theses calls. If you call my example a P and a Miss you’re wrong. The ROC says you’re wrong. The only reason the other thread went sideways was the intermingling of reactive targets and stationary targets and folks confusing them as different types. I doubt any any of those guys would call my 10 target example a P and a Miss because it’s not. Stan

  27. I had a great aunt who made scratch biscuits pretty much every day. It was amazing to watch. IIRC, she used shortening and self rising flower and probably something else like salt or baking soda. She tried to teach it to anyone who wanted to learn, but it was all done by feel so I don't think anyone else ever mastered it. When I first met my wife, she used to make us biscuits every saturday and sunday. Those were the only biscuits I ever had better than Aunt Dorothy's. Once we got married, the biscuit making stopped. I know it stopped because she went on keto diet. But I still miss them biscuits. It's really a shame for such talent to be laid by the wayside. She was a good breadmaker too. Can't beat home made sourdough bread or home made bagels. The bagels are a lot of work but well worth it for those of us who don't have to do it.

  28. I make a shrimp chowder that wins this competition. I have won three times. Many guests come back for second and third servings. A serving is only 1/4 to 3/8 cup. I have been asked “where can I buy this?” many businesses in town donate something for the raffle, pay a couple bucks and maybe win something. I took a different tack, I made cookies, for 5 or 2 dollars, donate to the library and get a bag of cookies (7 or 2), no luck of the draw involved. OMG is that a lot of work. 350 cookies made, 50 to go. Then I start on the chowder.

  31. My plan is to run two pots. One pot with the best mix, second pot with the spuds that weren’t cut the best, maybe less shrimp maybe less cream... by then everyone has voted ))) and is just coming back for seconds thirds an fourths. first pot will be for the judges and voters, second pot will be for the folks who come back again and again. Seriously it is not that different.

  38. TWO targets. Alternate 10 rounds starting on L or R L-R-...then misses with the other 8 shots. "Did the shooter hit all the correct type targets with legally acquired ammo?" YES?? (he hit BOTH targets) > Assess no misses "Did the shooter engage the targets in the correct order?" YES?? > (he alternated) No further call Let's just dispense with that (apparently flawed and useless) Miss Flow Chart altogether. I'm done with this.

  39. I guess we could poke yer eyes out. That oughta keep you from reading them. I find it fascinating how people can interpret basic words and phrases differently. I bet PWB and other ROC members use a word other than fascinating. I don't think anyone is trying to be pedantic or stir the pot, I think it's legitimate thoughtful disagreement.

  40. The flow chart doesn't ask if target 10 was hit......it asks if all the correct target TYPES were hit.....meaning were all the rifle targets hit with rifle rounds.....were all the pistol targets hit with pistol rounds and were all the shotgun targets hit with shotgun rounds Yes or No? In this case NO so we assess misses.......there was a miss on 5th shot fired from the rifle. The other 9 rifle rounds HIT rifle targets. So we assess 1 MISS Were the targets hit in the correct order except for any misses? Yes or No? In this case NO they were not. The 7th round fired did not hit the target that was designated to receive the 7th shot. So we assess a Procedural Shooter has a Miss and a P.....correct? This particular stage gave the shooter the ability to "make-up" the miss on that occurred on the knockdown which the shooter did take advantage of thus he only got the P. Stan

  41. as Cowboys shooters here in Colorado are lucky enough to get to spend time with Phantom a couple of times of months. He is a lot of fun to shoot with and we have had some crazy conversations. If you don’t know Phantom very well then you probably don’t know he states His opinion because he cares to help people learn to do things the right way. He is always one of the very first people to step up and to offer help and assistance when needed. I look forward to spending time with them every chance I get.

  42. I like anyone with the spine to step up and state their opinion (even knowing it may be unpopular). I like Phantom. But like is cheap. What I respect is anyone who has the testicular fortitude to stick to their opinion in the face of loud opposition. Folks that (when they're not wrong) don't apologize and walk it back. Folks that understand that if it comes down to a choice between telling the truth or hurting your feelings - the truth should win out every time. I respect Phantom.
