The problem with this PC nonsense is that lots of completely ordinary people get accused of being prejudiced or even racist. What that does in turn is water down the definition and leaves you with nothing to call those who truly ARE prejudiced or racist.

I had an unopened pound of IMR SR4756 but now some is in 200 rounds of .44WCF. I had forgot it was in the powder locker. Will load another 200 for a Wild Bunch shoot in Ohio on the 30th. When it is gone I may cry in my beer as I do like it and know of no other powder to replace it.

Just peel back the foil and put it in the microwave. For Thanksgiving I am treating myself to the large size Hungry Man dinner.

You know this? You have worked the action of every Colt Wyatt ever owned? If you really like the current crop of Uberti's, and there's not a whole lot to dislike these days as they have really upped their game, and you want the 4 click, there are two options. You can get the old model BP frame guns, which are currently still being made with the 4 click hammer (and if you are going for a Wyatt gun then most of his would have been BP frame), or you can replace the hammer and trigger with the old style. I have done this with half a dozen new cimarrons and they drop right in with little to no fitting making them work just like they used to.

I will respectfully IGNORE Jim's suggestion. Never had the first bit of trouble out of a Pietta and I wouldn't give a plug nickel for the new Uberti's. As a matter of fact the Alchimistas(Pietta) from EMF are pretty much ready iut of the box and the Californians are pretty good too.

First time I've heard of anyone complaining that Uberti's springs are too light!

I am an "EL PATRON". I have lots of arthritis. I shoot black powder gunfighter with no extra special problems. I use single action revolvers. I also shoot NRA bullseye with 1911s. That's a DIFFERENT sport. Pain is weakness leaving the body!!!!

I cannot say I've ever been to a match where major accommodations were needed and were not made to enable anyone who wanted to shoot. I've also never known anyone who quit, due to arthritic pain by itself. It seems most of us will shoot until we drop, and endure whatever discomfort we encounter to do so. At least I hope that is the case. I really think there are very few of our older shooters who don't perform with some kind of major disabity or pain, whether it be spine problems, knee joint or hip problems, foot problems, or arthritic limbs. But we still get up there and give it our best, and we do it among friends who WANT to assist where they reasonably can. That's what is different about CAS shooting. People WANT the other shooters to participate and do well.

The English word squaw, (as has been used in "squaw grip" here in this thread), is an ethnic and sexual slur, historically used for Indigenous North American women. Contemporary use of the term, especially by non-Natives, is considered offensive, derogatory, misogynist and racist, similar to words used in the past for black Americans. The English word is not used among Native American, First Nations, Inuit, or Métis peoples.

This is an interesting thread thats dear to my heart. My club ECSASS in eastern NC adopted WASA [Western Action Shootist Association] many many years ago and we use both SASS and WASA rules at our monthly shoots. Shooters can use 2x single actions, 2x double actions on a single/double action and a selfloader, [each gun loaded with 5 rds naturally] and selfloaders have to be slide locked before reholstering. The only other big improvement is that the shooter can load his sg on the line with as many shells needed for the sg course of fire, it’s not any faster but a lot more fun. SIX rds from a 97 is alot more exciting than 1+1+1+1+1+1. The majority of our shooters use sa’s but nobody bitches when I shoot. I generally run my 1911 strong side and a New Service in a crossdraw unless I’m using my Webleys. Right before Wild Bunch became an official thing and not just side matches I proposed a Classic Military Category to SASS that would have encompassed military pistols and uniforms up to The Punitive Expedition. It was set up like classic cowboy where your uniform had to have so many items to qualify. I got bored with and stopped shooting SA’s years ago moving on to other pistols. I didn’t sell my vaqueros, just moved on to other WASA toys. We also do Wild Bunch and CAS at the same monthly matches, BAM matches too, shot one yesterday. Here I am doing a BAM match Span Am impression. It’s all fun.

The OP asked for opinions on using a 1911 in SASS matches, many disagreed with that idea. That’s not the equivalent of tarring and feathering nor does it mean those who feel that way are insensitive to those of us who have disabilities. You can’t allow 1911s in your matches and state SASS rules apply.

That's about right for a newer third generation. You might be able to find one for the MSRP but that seems to be mission impossible these days. There is a heck of a deal in the classifieds. I saw two 2nd gen Colts for $3600. I spoke with the Colt rep at the NRA convention and they said they are going to ramp up SAA production but they only offer it in two calibers the last I checked and anything else has to come from the custom shop which doubles the price.

Prices are all over the board. In the last 2 months I came across three, in 2 different places. 85-90% condition used ones for 1300.00 ea Colt Custom Shop has posted "We really do NOT want your order" prices, so some Auction sellers are taking a cue from that and asking way too much . But, like Warden Callaway said, new ones are slowly filtering through at better prices. On the Classified Wire prices are in the middle, there's a pair right now 1700.00 each plus shipping.

Unfortunately, once a Constitutional Convention is convened, it opens the door to other issues - like repeal of the 2nd Amendment. Leave well enough alone, and work for your issues on a lesser scale. LL
