So, I shot a nice buck on opening day! Showed me five points on a side as he walked through the trees. One shot. Couldn't have been happier with him. Kaya was thrilled that I got a nice buck. Normally it's her that shoots.

I picked this up a while back through a pal based on a couple of poor photographs and a statement that it was “nice” but it took some time to get it shipped up. It’s an 1888 manufactured 1886 deluxe in 45-70. The stock was replaced at some point as it lacks checkering (the forearm is checkered) but it has a bright bore, quite a bit of blue, and good traces of color case. Based on the sketchy information I received when I bought it, I got it for a short song. It showed up yesterday and man am I pleased. A nice addition of the collection. A couple of pictures just for bragging rights.

Man, has it been raining!!! I’ve got a guy coming in the morning with a tractor to fix a couple of drainage issues and need a roof repair too. That’s a picture of the creek in my back yard, usually a trickle and there is a 36” culvert in there somewhere.

We (Kaya) just checked. My rack fits inside the rack of her buck with at least 6" to spare. But hey! I was king for three days!

Now those trucks are just plain COOL! Leave it to a bunch of ballsy Army guys to set up trucks like this AND run straight pipes so the enemy definitely hears them coming! Right the f*** ON! Thanks Dave. I had never heard of these trucks.

There are some rule changes I'd make, for example allowing moving while shooting with all guns (there are specifics regarding doing this safely that would have to be spelled out). On that rule alone, I am MD for a NON-SASS affiliated club and I have at least 1 stage every match that specifically does not follow SASS rules regarding moving while shooting. I spell out the safety rules and they are enforced rigorously. The smiles after that stage are 2 are amazing. Folks love it. I'd really like to see some movement in that direction, and I'd be happy to help with the writing the rules. But really, to grow, it's about marketing. That would require a lot of A/B testing with a small spend to find the messages that work and then a bunch of $$$$$ to put it into place. Pending finances, support for new local clubs with marketing budget and copy, along with targets and stands, and the "muscle" of an international org to help the host club decide they want to get going and then grow the local membership. The list can go on and on. But it requires $$$$$$.

Shame on them for excluding it in the first place, but good on them for reinstatement. Glad to see a start in taking a stand against the PC censors.

Every year there is Memorial Day ceremony at the Ft. Lewis Cemetery, which is the old post cemetery at what is now JBLM. It's a small graveyard, mostly full but with some spots still. Many graves of family, wives and kids, who died on post over the generations, along with soldiers, of course. There are four graves of German POWs who died there before the war's end. I have gone every year for many years now. They always have a very well-organized ceremony which lasts 1/2 hour. The high point is the full 21-gun salute; 21 separate cannon blasts. Quite something.

Yul, We have had one of those for two years. We really like it. Three in the house and each likes coffee a little different. With this one we have our choice. One thing I especially like is the easy cleaning of the needles. The Keurig we had before this got clogged up to where I couldn’t clear it out. A side note. I’m sure many know this, but for anyone with a K cup type machine. DO NOT LEAVE THE USED CUP IN THE MACHINE. As the machine cools it will suck up the grounds into the top needle and the water channel above the needle. Once the grounds are dried in the upper channel it is a b...ch to get them out. I found our last Keurig was impossible to disassemble enough to reach all the piping. Finally trashed it.

Always remember, you can't eat antlers! I hunt meat, not trophies. I don't get enough time in the woods to scout properly, and I actually get to go hunting less than half the time. So I always take the first legal thing I see.

Man, I hate videos like that. The craftsmanship, the attention to detail, the artistry, the genius use of forced perspective and the sheer cleverness of it. I've lost so many hours watching that one, then the next one, then the next one, then the next one.....

I'm puzzled. At a military funeral, they have several people fire rifles in unison. They do this three times. and because they normally have seven people do it, many MANY people insist that is a 21-gun salute. It is not. It is a three-shot volley. If they have three shooters, or seven shooters, or fifteen shooters does not matter. All the shooters fire at once (a volley) and they do it three times - thus, a three-shot volley. A 21-gun salute, on the other hand, is 21 cannon firing individually, one after the other - boom boom boom boom boom... Is this what they were doing - 21 individual cannon shots?

Comes a little late, don't you think? The university has already tarnished the day for so many people. And we will not forget what you did.

If you plan to shoot Duelist/Double Duelist/Gunfighter then I'd suggest keeping the trigger springs on the heavy side; 40oz would be as light as I'd go personally.

You may not have known this, but my mother died six months before I was born and left me to raise my younger brother and sister all by myself. Life does have it's difficulties.

I bought a new Plymouth Duster in 1973 for $2500. I overpaid by $2400. Classic junk from 1970's era Detroit.

I had the same experience although with a valid CA DL which is not a REAL ID, but also does not state "Federal Limits Apply". The REAL ID is not required until 2020, but the big box store in question would not accept my current DL and would not sell me shotgun shells for my next match. I've since bought bulk from a local gun shop that knows and plays by the laws, ridiculous as they are, and I passed the background check and made my purchase without issue. I've lived here all of my life, but am looking for a way out...
