Well, it had to happen. Kaya finally got her drivers license. She has been saving for quite a while to buy her own truck. She is using mine for now. My NEW truck, God help me. Wants to be able to pull the boat and haul her own deer if need be. So where does she go on her first drive alone? TO A GUN SHOP FOR POWDER, PRIMERS AND HOPPES #9! Could it get better than that?!? LOL Love ya Punkin. Now she can haul her own deer! Still washing the last one out of the bed of mine.

When I moved to Arizona a couple sort of adopted my wife and me. When my wife died they were there for me. Vaughn died a year ago yesterday so I took his wife out to supper and we toasted both Shawna and Vaughn. A hole in the wall, but some of the best Italian food I've found anywhere.

I shot Duel in the Desert this past weekend. It's a great retro match with lots of fun. While there I ran into Doug, the owner of the livery. He has taken it off the market, so we should be good for shooting in the coming years. This is very good news, because Arizona, over the last decade, has lost many of our places to shoot. J.M.

Great news this morning - After eighteen days, Wade was brought out of his induced coma, is now conscious, and has been upgraded from critical/stable to serious/stable. Due to facial and jaw injuries, and undoubtedly intubation, he is unable to respond vocally, but has shown recognition of certain people and commands. He was transferred from the University of Utah Hospital’s Neurological Critical Care Unit to the Neuro Acute Care Unit, and is scheduled to start reconstructive surgery for jaw and facial injuries on Thursday.

Two reasons not to just shorten 45-70 brass. First is because the brass tends to be thicker the further away from the neck you get. Do trimming to 45-60 size will give you thicker necks than you might want. And second, for someone like me that has quite a few 45-70 rifles and CRS memory issues, it’s just asking for mixed up rounds.

OFF Topic but still pretty funny....At the range where I'm range supervisor, a few years ago....A fellow showed up with a brand new 22-250 rifle. Being a new gun I was interested to see how it shot. He loaded, pulled the trigger, and the gun made a sound like a pellet gun! He said he couldn't hit the target only 50 yds away. I told him to shoot again.....When he did, about 15 feet in front of the bench I saw the gravel move. He did it again with the same result. He told me he was using reloads and loaded them himself. I asked how much powder...he said "32 grains of 6064......." "I counted them myself".........He said he used tweezers!!!!!

I started with Clones...….had the USAF Long Hunter's with the LH serial numbers....really low too I might add. They shot great and never failed but he did do a Ruger fix on em' for the weak link the clones have. Then I got a pair of Ruger's from Jimmy Spurs as a back up set or a good excuse to buy more guns. What I did what shoot the plate rack over & over calculating times & misses and for whatever reason the Rugers won that test for me. I'm more worried about winning than if my guns are Colts or clones or Rugers so I went by that......it might be the fit or the action or just me but since it's just me that lives with the outcome that's the pair I chose. I bought a pair of Colts when I was having a case of authenticity blues but I just couldn't bring myself to beat them up in action shooting so I sold them for what I have in my rifle, SKB & Holster rig...……….lol

Please explain why it is important that the load be 'clean'. You are new here so you have never heard me talk about the fallacy of 'clean burning' loads. You are not talking about shooting a finicky semi-automatic. You are talking about revolvers and lever guns. Which really do not care how clean burning the load is. A semi-auto might gunk up with a load that leaves some residue in the bore, but in my experience it will not matter in a revolver or a lever gun. A whole lot of fouling with my Black Powder 44-40 rounds does not slow me down much, but that is a different story. 7.5 grains of Unique under a 200 grain .427, or .428, or .429 bullet is not going to put a strain on any revolver that is in good mechanical condition. Recoil is noticeable, but not stout. In a rifle the recoil is barely noticeable.
