After nine months of extensive treatment including hormone treatment, forty five radiation sessions and multiple cycles of chemo I rang the bell. With the exception of the hormone treatments which will continue for two more years I am finished with treatment and cancer free Now back to living with what ever my new normal will be

Having the thumb safety “bumped and disengaged” on a 1911 will absolutely not cause a discharge.

I disagree with this. The rules are what they are, in black and white and not subject to anyone's opinion of what they mean. The rule in it's entirety says No Buscadero or drop holster rigs allowed (i.e., part of the grip must be above the belt on which the holster hangs). Nothing is mentioned about exposed trigger guard and open front. The rules are there to ensure that each contestant is held to the same standard, regardless of where they shoot or the opinion of the Match Director. Now surely all rules are not this way, having some leeway. But this one seems very clear, at least to me.

Since we usually camp at the multiple day events, we enjoy the social aspect as much as the shooting. Many times it's only at these annuals that we get to see some folks.

She tells how a co-worker put something in the wrong place, again. "I wanted to yell and call her a stupid ________ __________ ____ , but I remembered what you said, and I counted to ten, and then asked her, 'Did your mother bathe in lead-based paint when she was pregnant with you?' Life would be so much simpler if the rule book simply stated the rule. No caveats - no explanation - no interjecting semantic details to get hung up on. State the desired rule and move on. Classic Cowboy must use holsters that carry the pistol in a manner that some portion of the grip is ABOVE the belt the holster is carried by. Done. It does not matter if it's a "drop loop" or buscadero rig IF the grip is above the belt. Then it is a simple yes or no in regard to any examination of a holster rig. Grip above belt? Yes - legal for Classic Grip below belt? Not Paring the extraneous words from the rules down to their simplest and desired meaning would eliminate a large number of WTC and Is this legal?

The operative word is "guard"! Little dogs can give you a intruder alert like you wouldn't believe! My two can tell the difference between the sound of my and my wife's cars and a strange on driving into our cul-de-sac! You've seen those signs some folks put up that say, "My dog can make it to the fence in 8 seconds! Can you?" The implication being that the dog will attack faster than an intruder can run. IMHO that's nonsense! I haven't seen anyone that can run faster than 830 ft/sec (or outrun a charge of buckshot)!

I haven't shot since EOT last year and I've been pondering this event for months. Well tonight I filled out the entry form and envelope, wrote the check, and it will go in the mail tomorrow on the way to work. Put me down for the Classic Cowboy Posse and the train ride! My moms side of the family has the opposite problem. Back in the 70s, my Mom's sister was tracing her family tree and discovered the very real possibility that her Great Great Great Grandma was considered a full blooded member of the Creek tribe. Seems that her mom and dad took advantage of the chaos of post Civil War America to return to their ancestral homelands in the Appalachian mountains. There they lived and raised a very large family.. My Great Grandpa was forced to flee the Carolina's to escape imprisonment for moonshining and eventually settled in central Missouri. While my Aunt was researching our genealogy she discovered that one of her Aunts knew the location of several diaries that documented this and a whole lot more family history in great detail. However she was one of those that believed that if the truth was known it would have been a great embarrassment to her and a couple others in the family that were ashamed of our heritage. When my Aunt found out about them and was trying to locate them they wound up being destroyed rather than risk the possibility that someone find out that my ancestors were real people that dealt with real life the best way they knew how. She and a few others preferred to present their heritage as having descended from much more noble and refined blood. All we have left is a very old family bible. Unfortunately it was in bad and several of the names and dates in the family tree and not legible enough to make definitive connections. I was fortunate to read some transcripts from several interviews that a grad student from University of Missouri conducted with my Great Grandma before she passed. She was collecting oral histories about life in Missouri during the depression. Great Grandma must have took a shine to that girl because she said more to her in one session than I heard he speak in 10 years.

Those are good to go. I have a couple of rigs built with 2" of drop; both legal, but barely. Like the handbook states as long as the top of the grip is above the top of the belt. I'll add to just tell the maker to make sure they are legal for Classic Cowboy. If they don't know what that means get someone else.

This assumes the junkie has the capacity for rational thought. He doesn't. He's desperate and capable of doing innumerable insane things. I have personal experience with this. They don't think like us and the big mistake people make is assuming they do. In my world, my gun is for my protection. It's not a deterrent.

Rugers are tank-tuff. Rugers are USA made. Ruger's CS is tops. OLG

Rugers are ootb a more rugged gun because the lock works is much newer. It looks like a SAA but other than looks its a fully modern revolver. Clones are clones, some have mild upgrades such as coil hand spring, wire bolt/trigger, or even coil main springs but the lock work still requires timing and isnt as forgiving. At the end of the day, both work perfectly fine, both are tuneable to be smooth, and both can be short stroked and made to run reliably. I honestly think most of the ruger prefence comes from the fact that ruger turns out less lemons than the italians did. The clones didnt have the best track record and uberti keeps messing with new hammer safeties which are unpopular. Ruger CS is tops where as pietta/uberti is literally an ocean away and more or less has you on your own with Cimarron/EMF/Taylors to fix issues. I started with rugers, great guns, literally nothing bad i can say about them. I shoot clones now, they just feel/balance better there really isnt a bad choice and neither is going to make you a top shooter on its own or hold you back.

They will probably fit but the ejector housing could possibly cause some tightness which might benefit from wet molding.

You do what you want, but I see lowering the hammer on a 1911 like that's a negligent discharge waiting for a place to happen. It can't be any saver than just engaging the thumb safety. When cocked and locked, a Series 80 gun like the Para has the trigger, sear, hammer and firing pin disabled. To disable all 3 safeties, all you have to do is grab the gun in a shooting grip, depress the thumb safety and pull the trigger. Taking a shooting grip on the gun disables the grip safety that disables the trigger. Thumbing the safety down removes the block on sear and hammer movement and pressing the trigger fully disables the firing pin block safety. How is manually lowering the hammer- which can only be done by disabling all safeties and riding the hammer down on a live round in the chamber- safer, faster or more efficient than just leaving it back and engaging the thumb safety?

The requirement for the Chronicle Ad was for SASS Sanctioned Matches, i.e. State & Above. Club Annual are not required to be held, and the matches do not have any specific requirements for advertisement. in general, clubs put a lot more effort into their annual match in terms of better props, better stage setups, additional activities, and they usually have more shooters than their monthly matches. They typically draw shooters from farther away and, at least in my experience, provide an opportunity to experience Cowboy Action Shooting with a different flavor than what you get at your home club or clubs. It is also a chance to shoot with people you might otherwise never meet in person, only online. This year, at match in Florida, my wife and I had the opportunity to shoot with Ol' #4, T-Bone Dooley, Ellie Gant, and others from other parts of the country. Some we had met before, others for the first time. When we go to these away matches, we rarely ask to shoot with anyone but ourselves just so we get the chance to meet others. It is the best way to make new friends with folks who all share a common interest. State Championships and above are usually just a further extension of that, all the way up to Winter Range and EOT. My advise is "Don't look for a reason to go to an annual, look for an annual you want to attend, and just go. You won't be sorry!"

Know your surroundings and do your best to be respectful accordingly. There are times when having a right and exercising a right is a good thing, and there are times when excising a right is not right or the right time. For the record, and sounding like a broken record - I support a person's 2nd Amendment right and however they legally wish to exercise that right, open or concealed. Being respectful of those around you plays a big part in how we continue the fight for our right(s). As far as a person who claims to support the 2nd Amendment, but calls the cops on a person who is legally exercising their right via open carry is an idiot. GG ~

Since the early 90's I-GOLD, (Illinois Gun Owners Lobby Day) was a day created to put a face on Illinois gun owners to their Legislative representatives. For years the media portrayed gun owners as knuckle-dragging Neanderthals, with poor dental hygiene. On IGOLD day you will have doctors and welders, plumbers and x-ray technicians, attorneys and waitresses marching together in supportof their second amendment rights. The first IGOLD drew about 200 marchers. Yesterday in Springfield, Illinois, 8,000 (media estimate) to 9,000 (law enforcement estimate) law abiding citizens marched peacefully though the streets to the Illinois House and Senate. It was a sight to see. We were fortunate to grab a moment with Representative Ryan Spain, just off the House floor, and Senator Chuck Weaver (with Shortcake) in his office. Both Second Amendment supporters and have accepted an invitation to try Cowboy Action Shooting over the summer. Thanks to Guns Save Life, Illinois State Rifle Association, NRA, Illinois Carry, and all other Second Amendment groups for their valuable support.

Bacon like that is perfect for wrapping shrimp, scallops, and other seafood. You can get the bacon crisp without overcooking the seafood. (Yes, I know you can par-cook thicker bacon, but that can be a pain in the behind to do, and gives the bacon an odd texture) Also good for wrapping up grilled cheese sandwiches.
