At the end of 2018; the current Board of the Eldorado Cowboys are stepping down to allow for new leadership. As such; I will be relinquishing my position as President and Match Director. So, I'm sitting here tonight; having just finished writing the December match. And nostaglia has just kind of set in and I hope you will indulge me for a moment... I began shooting cowboy in late 1999. In 2001; I became the Match Director for Desert Desperados in Las Vegas; assisting my good friend Buffalo Sam with the duties of running that club until 2010. I also wrote a few matches for the Silver City club, the Pahrump Cowboys and the Nevada Rangers. In 2006; I began assisting the Eldorado Cowboys with monthly match writing. And in 2008; officially became Match Director and Vice President. I served two, two year terms as Vice President and in 2012 became club President and at the completion of 2018 will have served three terms. In these years; I have been fortunate enough to serve and work of behalf of Eldorado with: Dolly Doublebarrel Shooting Bull Boxherder Charming JD Nevada Nevada Skye And with much appreciated assistance from Rattler John now just Rattler - Territorial Governor. I figured one time, that between 12 stages a month for Eldorado; 6 stages a month for Desert Desperados and the other miscellaneous matches; that over my time as a Match Director I have written somewhere around 2800 stages. Thru these 2800 stages; it has been my sincere desire to create a reputation for Southern Nevada of having big, close and most importantly, fun matches. It has not always been easy; I have argued and debated about CAS philosophy, attitudes and direction. In the heat of a moment; I have said things I have regretted and I have hurt people's feelings that deserved better from me. But everything I have ever done; was always to make our game better. And with the support of various Board members, club members and visiting shooters; over the last 18 years, I think we have made the game better. Thank you for your kindness and indulgence. It has been an honor to serve you.

Last week (Before T-Day) I was in a grocery store and politely (Which was beneath me at the time) asked a Lady, "Could you please move?" She turned to me and said, "How Rude!" I replied, "No! Rude is you blocking the isle talking on the cell phone, while you have four people deep each way trying to get past you." That actually left her speechless.

Hey guys just picked up a Uberti 1866 Yellowboy factory Demo for $795. Thought that was a good deal. Still has factory warranty for me too.

I made this one once upon a time. Photos of the kids goes in each of those small holders. Always got a kick out of that one and it took a long time to make. I still have the pattern for making one. Was a lot of fun making it and seeing the kids smiles in the photos.

As a way-too-frequent business traveler, here are a few of my favorite peeves... 1. Families with that one suitcase over the weight limit, and instead of paying the extra fee for their own lack of planning, open all their suitcases at the check-in counter to distribute the load. 2. Airlines that tolerate behavior in #1 without pushing them aside to let the next customer come forward. 3. People who use the x-ray outfeed belt to get dressed at, rather than take their clothes to a bench for reassembly. (TSA pre-check was a godsend!) 4. Chairs that recline. There’s no space for that luxury any more. 5. People with overstuffed carryons that get cranky because they won’t fit in the overhead bins. 6. The plethora of “service dogs” that give real working animals a bad name. 7. Owners of said “service dogs”. 8. Seats with their widths designed to fit the average person. That means 50% of passengers are spilling over into the adjacent seats. 9. Poor personal hygiene. ‘Nuff said. 10. Irritating kids. As a father of four and now a grandparent, I do my best to have empathy for the parents. But please consider not flying if your kids are not old enough to be managed. Have grandma and grandpa come visit them instead of going to their house for the holidays. I think thats enough for now.

Its official I am

I travel a lot for work and nothing convinces me of our demise as the human race more than airport traveling. We clearly cannot be a superior species of people..... Things I enjoy over and over..... Groups of people blocking the flow in terminal walking as a pack....because they are the only ones in the airport... People who care only about themselves wandering aimlessly through the terminal with face buried in cell phone....they are like a nascar driver trying to pass them...cutting off your every pass attempt around them. Loading a plane...wow no matter how the airline does it people mess it up. No one can count or find the correct seat....it’s understandable for some that rarely fly and can be confusing, But spent 10 minutes on musical chairs on last boarding as grown ass adults can’t read. As someone from the military, a 100 of me could load these damn planes in under a minute....people just have no care in the world as they stroll down the aisle casually, finally find their seat and spending 5 minutes getting crap from carry on before sitting down while blocking everyone behind them. You would think I would at some point get to meet a celebrity....oh wait I did in Denver years ago.....the one I got to meet? Richard Simmons...with a sweatband and tank top straight out of one of his videos. Venting complete. Flame on.

Happy Jack said it all. I have a Spolar . It producers factory quality reloads. The Powder unit on the machine is really accurate. I reloaded 2,000 rds Sunday afternoon. I have own mine for 7 or 8 years. AS stated earlier you get what you pay for. Goatneck

At our annual match, High Noon at Tusco, we have a fellow who makes and donates our wood plaques for us. We put plastic 5x7 photo holders on them and put prints in them. The prints reflect the theme of the match. These awards pretty much only cost some photo paper and printer cartridges. No wasted materials. If we don't use all the plaques, we use them for the following year. Just take out the print and replace it the following year. We allow pretty much whatever category you want.

Howdy Creeker. I sure hope you don't retire from the Wire. As a Wire Pard, and thru some of our PM's, you have always been a good friend to me. Whenever I have noticed a post from you, I read it. And usually, I learn something from your comments. You have obviously done well in your positions of leadership and stage writing, of which SASS needs more like you. Thanks for all you have done. Personally speaking, I suspect you will serve again in the future as a club officer, stage writer, etc..... Its in your blood. For now, enjoy a little rest..... but don't retire from the Wire. To some extent, yes, you're correct. But if you look at the initiators of the anti-gun movement, the driving force of it for the past 30 years, the groups from Handgun Control, Inc. through Bloomberg and Moms Against you see almost nothing but lily-whiteness. Thankfully where I moved to when I retired 16 months ago (population 401) people are still very courteous and friendly. Now, mind you, there aint crap to do around here but at least I do it in laid back style....

It's also regional here in the U.S., I've driven from CT to southern VA and find that the further south and west you get, the more polite the people, especially on the highway. Driving back into CT is like re-entering the asylum and I find myself to be more of an "active" driver rather than a "reactive" driver.

Triple Seven does clump. I break up the clumps before loading any kind and have no problem with light loads. I do this before every daily reloading session. Triple Seven without the clumps meters very well.

Truth is, there wouldn't be a Harley Davidson without AMF!! Harley Davidson was BROKE and BROKEN!! Had the company not been bought out, they would have folded up and disappeared! AMF held on and kept the brand alive until it could be sold back to the families and restructured by going public, selling shares on the stock exchange to finance the move!! AMF produced the first Harleys with disc brakes, a closed oiling system, an alternator charging system, (solid state, by the way) fairly reliable ignition system, and several other improvements that drug the Harley Davidson into the modern motorcycle mainstream. Those who ridicule the AMF bikes are simply ignorant or have chosen to join those "Harley owners" who, for many recent years, have adopted the same know it all, snotty, conceited, "better than the rest of you" attitude that Harley riders from the previous generation were subjected to by other motorcyclists!! I, and several old bikers I know have AMF bikes that have stood the test of time, outlasting and often outrunning the newer, "better" units produced after Harley Davidson restructured. SURE!! The later bikes have been improved. They took what AMF developed and went forward with it!! The EVO and Twin Cam editions were logical advances, (although they had their own teething problems, which the buyers of those models whined and complained to us old bikers about) and newer and more advanced versions continue to be released, all because AMF stepped up and kept the marque alive!! My 1979 AMF Harley Davidson has over 1/3 of a million HARD miles on it!! It broke a piston in Chattanooga, Tennessee and I rode it home on one cylinder, over Monteagle Mtn. at interstate speeds, all the way to Nashville and to my shop. It's been rebuilt and modified and made over to my vision of what a road cruiser should be! I break it on occasion because I don't baby it and even abuse it once in a while, but I still ride mine and I know of MANY, MANY post AMF bikes that long ago became yard art or articles in the scrap yard! Original finish for US&S pistols was Du-Lite blue over sandblasting. Yours appears correct. Early 1943 Remington Rands and Ithacas were Du-Lite as well. Singers were also Du-Lite, but they were polished. Colt began Parkerizing pistols in 1941 and it became the standard finish for all manufacturers except for what I noted.

Got my dies and brass in, and loaded up 10 last night. Happy to report gun functioned flawlessly. I am very happy with my purchase. I likely won’t shoot it a lot, but it’s nice knowing I can! Biggest problem is is now I have to get a Thunderer.....and a Rainmaker!

There is Spolar Gold and then there is everything else. In a class of it's own. You need to decide if it is worth it to you. Most Cowboy SG loads are pretty forgiving and most get away with pretty lousy looking reloads.

Reminds me of when AMF purchased Harley Davidson years ago. AMF just wanted to build Harleys in a fast production rate, without any regard to quality and the AMF Harleys were crap. That is what happens when "Bean Counters", try to run a and company and just want to make the bottom line.

I'd thought about shooting my Pietta 51 Navy Confederate 44s a number of times in past year. But something would come up or I'd get something else out instead. I just couldn't get a couple of hours of time to devote to shooting them enough to make it worth the effort it took to clean them afterwards. This morning started off in mid 50s with sunshine. But the weather forecast was predicting a major winter storm moving in. Perfect! I could get in a couple of hours of shooting and then clean them when the weather turned bad. It was about like a treasure hunt looking for all the components needed to load and shoot the gun but it was worth the effort. They popped off every shot despite the Remington caps being in the Ted Cash capper for a year. The CCI caps were at least 20 years old. I gave them a total teardown cleaning and a good coating of Thompson's Bore Butter. I need to get them out more often.

Great video Warden! I love my Navies in both calibers. I have the same one as you but with a steel frame. The short barrel and .44 caliber makes for fun shootin! There are some folks that get their BVDs in a bunch, because they say these guns aren't "historically accurate". I say phooey!! They are fun as hell! And besides, we're basically shooting an Army with a Navy grip frame and a shortened barrel. All mods that any prairie gunsmith could have performed. So they very well could be historically accurate. Or at the very least, they could have existed.

About a year ago I asked about another "looks like a scam to me". Spray painting a house, instead of using a brush or a roller. And many responses said that was a great way to paint a house. So I figgered, while it sounds like a scam to me, I'm not no roofer. So I asked.
