  1. I'm not going to destroy it. I'm just going to cut the barrels to 20", bevel the chamber mouths, disable the automatic safety, shorten the l.o.p. and install a pachmayr decelerator butt pad... That's all...

  4. I one time told a salesman that scoundrel Murphy had done this-or-that, and there was a long silence and then he said "My name's Murphy." I never missed a beat. "And now for my next act, I'll put my other foot in my mouth, after which I'll borrow a spatula from the kitchen and scrape the egg off my face."

  10. Optional reading for this morning SAF, NRA FILE FEDERAL LAWSUIT CHALLENGING INITIATIVE 1639 excerpt IMHO if it were not for the work of the NRA we'd all have been disarmed years ago. I'd love to see more good gun owners join the NRA. We need every hand we can get. I've not read this 1639 thing; perhaps I'll be able to add some more info about it later this morning. I did find this summary Source: "ballotpedia" I don't know anything about "ballotpedia". a rather cursory check on them looked ok*; to really research this I'll have to download and study the 30 page pdf - - * media bias site: I ran a few tests on their analysis of popular news sources. I have to rate them as unreliable: where a left or right bias is reported factual accuracy of reports cannot also be rated "high" -- it's a contradiction in terms.

  11. Used to have a landlord I rented a house from years ago, who ran a small hardware store in a small town. If he had a small appliance that he wanted to get rid of he would put it behind his store with a price tag marked sold. Somebody stole every one and he didn't have to get rid of them. GW

  12. back when we were in school the answer would have been yes. In today's touchy-feely PC world I doubt it. Best course I ever took in the Navy was Instructor Training. They filmed us at the beginning of the class making a short presentation and then again at the end. The difference was astonishing. Being ablle to speak in front of a group of people and talk intelligently without saying uh, un, well er, and many others has served me well for the remainder of my time in the Navy as well as in the my various post military jobs. JMNSHO but public speaking should be a mandatory class for all HS graduates. College graduates should have to repeat the course. I was shocked when I discovered that President George W. Bush was such a poor public speaker. In my opinion his inability to speak well in public detracted greatly from what were otherwise excellent speeches.

  19. The quotes I remember are very similar to Yul's only mine had colorful expletives interspersed throughout them. There is one, I guess it would be a quote, from a teacher I had named Mr. Rollinson. One day he was telling us about a kid in another ton that committed suicide. He was obviously shaken by it. He said: "I want to tell you all something. You are kids, regardless of what you think, you are young people. You have your whole lives ahead of you. Now, the time of now in your lives is a very small part of your entire lives. Do not let little things that are happening now be your only focus. Now is not how life will be forever." Those words have helped me many times in life. Thank you, Mr. Rollinson.

  28. I remember a skit on tv. THINK it was Johnny Carson, but ain't positive. Man On The Street interview. Interviewer, holding up a roll. "Excuse me sir. Do you know what this is?" MOTS looks at him, at the camera, back at him. "Course I do. That's toilet paper." Interviewer chuckles. "No sir, this is bathroom tissue. Do you know what you do with it?" MOTS looks at him like he's a moron, looks at the camera again, then steps up and whispers in the interviewer's ear. Interviewer: "Oh NO sir. You rub it against your face."

On the forums, I hardly ever venture away from the Saloon. I love all the humor, Corny jokes, and the stuff Father Kit Cool Gun Garth puts on here. Thanks guys and gals yall are awesome, The Bearded Wonder

  33. Dad made an average wage here in E.Tn during my childhood (1951-65). But, when some of us kids (5 of us) wanted a new bike, ball, glove, etc..... daddy use to say: "If you could travel around the world on a dime, I couldn't afford to get off this front porch". ..........Widder

  34. Memorable quote from yours truly at age 4 or 5... Sixgun: "Dad, I'm gonna cut my hair now". Dad (head buried in his newspaper): "Hmmrrmm... alright." Sixgun proceeds to take the kitchen scissors and give himself a reverse Mohawk. Mom: "What on Earth did you do to your HAIR?!?" Sixgun: "Dad said I could!" Dad was the one who ended up in big trouble.

  36. My advise.. Try them all as has been suggested.. My wife "Lacey Corsette" started shooting (with me '03) back in '04.. She has very small hands.. I was shooting original Vaquero's with heavy factory loads in 38 special.. A whole bunch of recoil but that was what was available then.. I got her a pair of the original Vaquero's shooting the same loads.. She never complained about them.. Shot them a year or so.. I finally started reloading (down loading) my own ammo.. But in the meantime Some other lady shooters said she needed smaller guns.. I got her a pair of Vaquero's single six.. Birdheads in 32 cal.. I had, by now, a very mild load for my 38's.. Very little recoil.. She shot the 32's maybe 5-6 matches.. Then at a practice day for us she wanted to shoot my Original Vaquero's with my new downloaded ammo.. She then stated she wanted her old Vaquero's back in 38 special.. She has shot them ever since.. She liked the weight and feel of her old Vaquero's better.. I guess I'm saying the ammo they shoots means a lot too.. Rance Just sayin..

  37. Well, we went and did it. We both love them. Cimarron Pistoleros in 357 with the 4 and 3/4 bbl. We picked 'em out together. And they have the 4 click hammer. Super easy to work the hammers, and a breath on the trigger will set 'em off. Looks like a missing rivet on that right holster. will that create an issue? We have been to the Old 97 Railroad Rangers and shot a match. I was brought up with the idea "If you break it you bought it", So using other peoples stuff is about as fun for me as hitting my shin on a trailer hitch. Doesn't matter what it is, A pencil or a car. Don't mind sharing, just don't like using.
