SASS credits much of its success to these individuals and groups who have contributed to the growth of the organization and the direction of Cowboy Action Shooting™ along the way. As SASS reflects on the past 30 years, we look forward to the future with anticipation and excitement for the evolution and continued growth of the organization and the sport of Cowboy Action Shooting™. We look forward to many more years providing unparalleled resources and benefits to our members, supporting the shooting sports and firearms industry, and upholding our original mission — preserving and promoting the sport of Cowboy Action Shooting™.

  3. Howdy Big Jake, I don't do Facebook...or any other social media of that nature. Years ago I joined a service like Facebook and within 48 hours realized that it was loaded with PC morons and annoying people from my past that I wanted to keep in my past so I quit. All of my family does Facebook and I get badgered to join but life is too short for frustration of the nature that only Facebook can bring me. Besides, Facebook creeps me out. It's almost like a "movement" from a sci-fi novel where everyone must join to be a citizen or something. I get so frustrated when I am researching a product or want to contact an on line vendor and when I click "Contact Us" they immediately want you to go through Facebook or you look for something and a window pops up with the words "Like us on Facebook". If it involves Facebook I stay away. Yes, I am paranoid but with good reason.

  4. I choose my friends carefully also. Problem is, some of those folks that I would be friends with also choose their friends carefully, which leaves me with fewer friends..... Well, enjoy your jail time and welcome back to the Long Branch. ..........Widder

  5. Let's add an Indian Category !!! (or Native American). All targets must be shot with a Bow and Arrow and any Knock targets must be knocked down with a tomahawk. You must dress period correct (historically accurate)for the category ( Dress code to be debated at a later date.) The category can be split in to modern (Compound Bows)and Traditional(standard bows). All arrows must be completely made of wood to prevent sparks for using metal or flint arrowheads. The timer stops when it is hit with the tomahawk at the end of the shooting string. Maddog McCoy Note: Pass me some popcorn but don't tell anybody as it is not listed on my diet...............

  6. What ever the power factor or caliber constraints are, the thing that will stay the same is the competitors. A stage that takes an average shooter 30 seconds now will take longer. Guess what? The shooter who pushes themselves to be faster now, will be faster then. Besides, this is a game and a shooter can play it however they wish! You want to shoot full power black powder 45 Colt loads? You certainly may! Plenty of categories to go around where a person can choose to play this game their way!

BPCR matches and championships on occasion. SASS matches in other areas when we are able to attend. CFDA matches at Border Marauders and other venues as scheduled. Practice every day on my home raanges.

  9. Categories are insignificant if you can't shoot them gunfighter.

  10. There is: Classic Cowboy is "Major"... all the other categories are "minor". (At least when you're talking to a Classic Cowboy/girl)! If you're talking to a Frontiersman, all the other categories are "minor"...

  11. Tanning solutions will corrode brass cases, first signs are a green verdigris. The inside of cartridge loops are generally rough-out, and very hard to seal. Even nickel cases will eventually corrode.

  12. nicely done what caliber? see someone told you, or you knew it already, not to use brass cases in bullets. Yea, I know it's fine for a day or two but I'm known to forget from month to month cr

  14. How about adding A to D scoring zones on all steel targets that require repainting between shooters while we're at it

  15. Facebook is a mixed blessing. It's been good for me as it allows me to contact family and some real friends that are scattered to the four winds. It's been bad because the world is full of keyboard Commando's and Meme-warriors who just say things that they'd never have the courage or lack of wits to do in person. It's been fascinating as it has allowed me to separate some wheat from chaff, especially in this last election cycle. All things considered I think I'll probably eliminate it from my life, or do a significant paring down of who and what, in the near term future. My wife has a simpler approach, she has a few family and friends, very few - and dozens of antiques, pretty pictures cats, and all kinds of girly stuff whizzing by. Politics are deleted at light speed, and most other controversial issues as well. I lack the self control to do that so I'll probably just nuke the whole thing soon . . . . SC

  16. What is your suggestion for expediting the pre-match verification process? Aside from the task of convincing the WB and general membership that doubling the number of categories is a good idea?

  19. Well, I do belong to many groups within Facebook like Vintage Rimfire Rifles, Single Shot Rifles, Gun Porn, Vintage Stevens Rimfires, Vietnam CUPP Marines (I was a Marine in Vietnam) Rolling Block Rifles, 45-70 Rifles, Hellraisers Saloon (Fun place), guns of John M Browning and so on and so on I like those groups and try to spend my time there, but every once in a while I stray into dangerous waters and I love Yanking the Chain of a buncha Libtards and argue with them about Trump vs, Obama or Hillary. Man O Man do they get nasty...call you vile names. use foul language, I'm an A$$hole, bigot, racist, and everything else they throw at me. I just laugh and say it's all true....so what? it's no skin off your nose. That pisses them off that I don't care what they call me. Just sayin' Big (what's only got 5 more hours jail time) Jake
