  1. It's only $50 bucks for the year and very sad that anyone posting on the wire can justify why their club can't come up with $50 bucks for the YEAR to support the organization who created the sport we participate in. Who gave us years of enjoyment and friendships can't justify why to send $50 bucks for the year!! For that 15 person club. That's like $3.50 per person???? The same people who spend thousands on guns, leather & ammo. It's all what have you don't for us lately, how about what they have done for us all for over the last 25 years! Last year I changed my monthly match fees and gave a discount of $5 off match fees for sass members and hinted to those to join sass because I'll pay the first $40 bucks( $5 times 8 matches). Had some people who refused to shoot because the felt I was charging them more because they weren't sass member. Refused to join sass again because said they "weren't getting anything", yet still wore the sass badge got along time ago, used the sass alias and attended many sass state shoots over the years and had a large group of friends they never had before sass. Weren't getter my anything??? BS. Sass gave them a lifetime of stuff. What I came to understand, some people just like to complain about everything and are never happy. I say. Good riddance! (Now off my soapbox)

  3. Most of us remember Ken Curtis as Festus on the long-running "Gunsmoke" TV series. But prior to that he played many similar roles in memorable John Wayne movies ("Rio Grande," "The Searchers," etc.) and prior to that he joined the Tommy Dorsey big band group as a vocalist, taking Frank Sinatra's place when he left. He was married to John Ford's daughter. Here he is singing "Tumbling Tumbleweeds." (Click the Link) https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=fWR6FLnPack

  4. Actually, LT, "Snafu" would be quite appropriate. That was done in New York (maybe other places also) a few years ago. Didn't go over well at all.

  6. $100 bucks was 2015, 2106 was only $50 In an effort to simplify the process and eliminate any misunderstanding, there is a change in the pricing structure this year- as a result of your requests and feedback, the affiliation fee is a flat $50; regardless of your SASS membership status within your club members Again no excuses not to support the organization that created what we love to do!

  9. I made the proposal for a dollar per shooter go to SASS from every monthly match, then non-SASS and life members would pay for the privilege of having SASS affiliation. Never got a response from HQ. The appearance of beating up on small clubs was a turn off and many smaller clubs just bailed on SASS along with their members. Alienating clubs by overcharging them and not recognizing their hard work will be the beginning of many non-SASS affiliated shooting events, it's already happening, and there is much talk. The $5.00 per shooter surcharge was not a good idea either. I recall when SASS had less than 10K members, a quality quarterly magazine and lower annual fees. We have over 3 times as many active shooters and they want more and more $$$, and shooters had to beg to get a real magazine after the digital version failed to attract advertisers. One of our local clubs had over 1000 shooters this year, several others had 300-400. A dollar each is a much better money maker than charging clubs a set $100 fee. Pretty sure there are 3-4 fewer Wyoming clubs than before the fees were implemented.

  11. Florida's first district is well represented! I sense a new awakening in America...and it begins in earnest on Friday. It will be up to us to keep this going my friends. Saddle up with Team SASS! CD ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ http://www.pnj.com/story/opinion/2017/01/17/rep-gaetz-second-amendment-negotiable/96686296/ Rep. Gaetz: Second Amendment not negotiable Congressman Matt Gaetz 3:54 p.m. CT Jan. 17, 2017 Liberal activist John Cork asks in a recent column, “Who is Matt Gaetz Protecting?” The answer: Gun owners and our Constitution. Some on the left believe the Second Amendment is negotiable, flexible – even forgettable. I don’t – and Andy Marlette’s cartoons provide the evidence. Our founders understood that America’s strength comes from empowering citizens, not government. In the words of Thomas Jefferson, “Laws that forbid the carrying of arms…disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes.... Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man" (quoting 18th century criminologist Cesare Beccaria). Jefferson’s words ring true today – especially given increasing violence in society. When Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton and Michael Bloomberg called for a repeal of Florida’s “Stand Your Ground” law, I proudly stood up to them. We didn’t weaken Stand Your Ground, we made it even stronger to protect those under attack. As a state legislator, I championed open gun carry in Florida. Forty-Five states allow open carry in some form. States that allow open carry have 23% less violent crime, fewer murders and fewer aggravated assaults. The numbers don’t lie – which is likely why Mr. Cork didn’t cite any. Congress can do more to restore the rights of law-abiding gun owners. Today, when a Florida conceal carry permit holder travels to Alabama, Georgia or any other state, they cannot carry absent duplicative permitting. I’ve joined Rep. Richard Hudson (R-NC) introducing national conceal carry reciprocity legislation. In our state, conceal carry permit holders are remarkably law-abiding citizens. In fact, they are eight times less likely to commit crimes than members of law enforcement. We hope to pass this bill soon. Mr. Cork writes, “There are numerous effective strategies that reduce the odds of the mentally ill obtaining firearms. The NRA and Rep. Gaetz oppose them all.” That is a lie. And I can prove it. No person should be able to walk out of a mental institution and return to an arsenal. In 2013, I was Criminal Justice Chairman in the Florida House of Representatives. We worked with Democrats, Republicans, the NRA and others to pass HB 1355. According to nonpartisan analysis, this law prohibits the sale or delivery of firearms to someone “adjudicated mentally defective” or who has been “committed to a mental institution.” That’s just commonsense. Perhaps Mr. Cork should take better aim of the facts before publishing fake news. For eight years President Obama has blamed law-abiding gun owners for the tragic events caused by a disturbed few. In Northwest Florida, we proudly “cling to our guns and bibles.” We always will. And if anyone ever wonders who I am protecting by supporting the Second Amendment, it just may be you or your family. Because, in America, you always have the right to protect yourself. Congressman Matt Gaetz represents the First District of Florida. He serves on the Armed Services, Budget and Judiciary Committees and lives in Fort Walton Beach.

  12. Lost Trail, if everyone threw in like you will after you become a life member, the whole sport would thrive. More of us should be pitching in, and helping out. All of us should be! I wouldn't even have met my closest friends if it weren't for sass, and it's brought my wife and I closer, its helped our wounded vets, and scholarships for our youth. We shouldn't be Freegrazers.

  19. I sell the Hi-Tek Super Coat bullets for Cimarron Bullets in Wylie, Tx, he bought a special color called "Gunmetal" for Cowboy bullets and it looks just like a lead bullet but is coated. Sell thousands of that color to local shooters, they really like them, cant tell they are coated, you should try them.

  22. The Sure Hit sights are very popular and there is a probability that you shoot with some folks who have both sizes for you to check out. Either way, I think you will be happy. I don't use a rear sight so therefore, all I want on my rifle is the larger Sure Hit sight. I have them on both my competition Marlins. ..........Widder

  23. The timer won't register the shots when dry firing. I just use it as a par timer. for instance, I set it 6 seconds, hit start and try to get 4 shotgun shells, pulled, dry fired and shucked before it reaches zero and beeps. Totes

  24. I can't take it anymore. Its all been a lie. Red Cent has forced me to face and reveal certain truths. I am really a lizard/grey alien hybrid. I am currently on the planet Xarniz-6 for vacation and viewing this from an i Phone I stole from an unlocked car in a Wal Mart parking lot on my last visit to Earth. The roaming charges are going to kill me. I think you humans are rather silly but your children are tasty.

  25. I really wish people would stop trying to make pets out of peeves. They are inheritantly wild and really don't make that good a pet. Oh sure, they're cute and cuddly when young, but what about when they mature? A cage is a very inhumane way to treat them, so you're left to release them back into the wild. You know how many peeves are living in the New York sewers? N
