  1. AGREE. Surely with an appeal, somebody in the club should have know the correct rules governing this type situation. RESHOOT. Misses do not carry over. AND........ TO needs to take a refresher course, assuming the TO has ever taken any courses. ..........Widder
  2. You fellers 'quack' me up. I'm glad you're both into 'Chickens' and not ducks. TW is correct in on thing he's told me......... Shooting Bull ain't good enough to shoot the TN State. ..........Widder
  3. I know this post is 'stealing' the thread, but I gotta share this with the Wire Pards. For about 4 or 5 years now, TW and I will get together to sell a gun or swap a gun, etc..... and in the process, we usually meet somewhere we can have a good meal. Now, for all these times we've met, TW would always order 3 beers. Really. And A couple years back, I ask him.....'WHY do you always order 3 beers'? TW told me that when his 2 brothers moved out west (Texas and Montana), they agreed to have a beer for each other when they were able. The 2 extra beers were to honor his brothers..... and they in turn did the same when they were somewhere to get a drink. Anyhow, last week, TW and I met in Murfreesboro cause I was buying a nice varmint scope from him. At the restaurant, TW only orders 2 beers. Naturally, in my best somber voice, I expressed my condolences on what appeared to be that one of his brothers had passed away. TW says: Oh No! its nothing like that. You see, my wife made me join a Baptist Church and now I can't have one for myself". Another true story..... cause you just can't make this stuff up! ..........Widder
  4. I got Red Knee's address somewhere but I probably can't find it right now. I used it a couple times to send him some SNICKER candy bars for Christmas. He Loves SNICKER bars. If the TN State were to award a years supply of SNICKER bars to the SG Side Match speed winner, Red Knee would probably show up and beat everyone. CG: tell Gut C and Skrap P to be at their best. I plan to show no mercy and take no prisoners..... The State record for 6 KD's is 4.24 seconds. If they beat that, I'll give them a box of AA's Low Noise, Low Recoil. (25 round box). ..........Widder
  5. Dang LLP, you is a 'Bad Man'..... You oughta be teaching ole TW a few tricks. ..........Widder
  6. Actually, it will be worth the price just to watch those 'other' top 97 shooters in the side match, and Ole Widder will be a spectator... Don't be surprised if some spirited (fast) 87 and SxS shooters also put up some respectable times. Looks like Red Knee (The Oklahoma Tornado) will be missing the party this year. Sure gonna miss his show. And looking at the list of shooters, I counted no less than 6 or 7 top SG shooters that can make their favored SG sing... in the key of 'boom'. And one of those is a top shooting Cowgirl. Heck, I'm just surprised Superman ain't sent in his application yet. ..........Widder
  7. I agree with you, Randy..... 100%. If a person really wants to be fast, ya gotta pull out nearly all the restrictions to find out those 'impossible' limits. Soon, the practice sessions will reveal areas of sloppiness that can be worked on. AND, those fast practice sessions will also reveal that your previous 'limitations' are changing because your speed has improved. Assuming you don't have any restrictive health issues, you gotta believe in yeowndangself and believe those 'unreachable' speeds are actually not impossible to reach. Sooooooo, I would suggest you practice hard and practice fast. At a match, its o.k. to throttle back a little. But when its practice time again, as Randy stated, ya gotta practice fast to know your speed limits..... and then exceed it. You might be the next 'speedmeister'. ..........Widder
  8. 1. You're behind the time, KK. She was also right when she married Tommy Gun. 2. She was right when she shot the Marlin. 3. AND...... she Was right when she choose to shoot the Widdermatic...... ..........Widder
  9. I might add...... "PROPER" practice is most important. Its easy to get sloppy and use bad techniques in dry firing. So be cautious. Some of the posters above have world class credibility in shooting Duelist. Take their advice wisely. Another world champ duelist is TN Williams. I'll call him on the phone and get him to post some info for you. Then one day........ you can kick his butt. ..........Widder
  10. The Blue Ink Bandit has spoken. Thanks PWB. (Giddy-up Crockett, its time to ride onto another match) ..........Widder
  11. CG: I basically retired from Marlin work and Henry .22 work about 4 years back when I had my heart surgery. A fellow shooter, friend, neighbor and gunsmith... SLATER, is now officially working on Marlins and the Henry .22 Thanks for asking. HC: anybody that can master a 97 like you is probably never confused about anything..... Looks like you and Red Knee are gonna make me handle those speedsters from New Mexico, all by meowndangself at the TN State this summer. Wish me luck....... LOTS of luck. ..........Widder
  12. For a 3 plate Nevada Sweep, a GUNFIGHTER could anchor their left (or right) pistol on the center plate (P2) for 1st shot, 3rd and 5th shot. The other pistol would only have to shoot 2nd shot on P3 and then 4th shot on P1. Or similar depending on which direction they choose to go. ..........Widder
  13. There are 5 targets each for both pistol and rifle Instructions: with first 5 shots..... sweep the 5 targets. With remaining 5 shots, Nevada Sweep the 3 INSIDE targets. My question: Unless specified in the instructions as to which target the Nevada Sweep begins, can the shooter rightfully start their Nevada Sweep on the CENTER target? Basically, this would mean the sweep would be 3-4-3-2-3. (or, 3-2-3-4-3). depending upon which direction the shooter chooses. I would say 'YES', but some folks have told me in the past that a Nevada Sweep 'HAS' to start on an end target. Remember, the instructions didn't declare which of those 3 inside targets the sweep started. BUT, the instructions did refer to the sweep as 'NEVADA'. ..........Widder
  14. Christmas, here is a video I did a few years back. The belt being used is a single loop, canvas by Doc Noper. Which ever kind of belt you choose, it can be good for you if you practice a good technique that works for you. Good luck. I have 3 of these videos if you decide to view them. They are titled: Widowmaker dry fire practice #1, #2. and #3. Hope you enjoy. ..........Widder
